Half.com Instant Sale (Trade In Program)

I was looking into trading Resistance 3 and amazon was giving $2.50 so I decided to list the game on half.com. When I went to their site I notice their new program of "Instant Sale" which is exactly the same as amazon.com's trade in program except you can get paid with a half.com gift card (which comes with a 15% trade in bonus) or you can trade your item for paypal cash. A label for free shipping is provided.

Resistance 3 is getting $18 paypal cash which is way more than amazon, best buy or gamestop.

TIV may be worth it on other items... including books, movies and music.

http://sell.half.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?HalfInstantSaleHub

Edit: The easiest way to find the item you want to trade is to search the item as if you want to buy it. When you get to the item page where you can choose which copy you want to buy and click on "Sell My Copy", this will give you the option to either "trade the item" or sell it through the website.

Edit 6/16/12: Right now Sonic Generations (360) is getting $28 paypal cash or $31.xx half.com credit

This half.com commercial brought to you by op.

My half sisters roommate made hundreds of dollars on that site!

Instant trade = Sell It Now feature they had for awhile.

Someone who wants the title puts in a price they'd auto buy it at...used to be when listing you could take the offer or just continue with listing.

No offer = you'd have to list it as normal

What are you talking about? That's not what it is. This is something similar to amazon where all the stuff that is shipped goes to a main hub and is checked by a third party.

I am shocked nobody has figured it out. I just checked games like Gears of War 3 and it is getting $15.50, Uncharted 3 is getting $23.10, FIFA 12 (PS3) is getting $22.40. Those TIV are very reasonable.

Must be an amazon fanboy.
They offered me $31 for Rayman Origins. That's more than MSRP. There's definite potential.
Glad you found a good deal, all the games I was thinking about trading were really not that good of value. Even the Orange Box was only like $13 Like New.

I have checked the Instant Sale feature before when selling on half.com, but the offers were always less than I could sell it for. However, I did just get good deal on two games. Sold them Warhammer Space Marine 360 for $16.xx Paypal, and Hulk Hogans Main Event disc only for $10.xx Paypal. Not too shabby since I paid less for each and couldn't sell or trade them anywhere else for more, as far as I could find.

Great find OP.

Some good TIV for me.

I've sold on Amazon for years, but I'm willing to give this a shot. As a test run, I just sent in three Madden 2012s(one from each console) from that recent bestbuy.com $10 DotD. They all go for $20-$25ish.

To help others out, I'm going to do a trade in value list as I'm scanning my games. And to make it easier for me, this is the half.com credit value, so subtract 15% for actual cash (paypal) value. The default I'm choosing is the games being in like new condition. So to sum it up:

Like new condition
Subtract 15% for actual cash (paypal) value

I would never do business with half.com. I sent in barely used textbooks to the third party vendor and they would make claims like torn cover, missing pages, unuseable. It would come back with none of there claims and half customer service is useless.

After researching, I notice the vendors are also sellers on half.com. Returns are probably because the value of the item dropped and they are losing their cut.

I updated the original post with this: The easiest way to find the item you want to trade is to search the item as if you want to buy it. When you get to the item page where you can choose which copy you want to buy and click on "Sell My Copy", this will give you the option to either "trade the item" or sell it through the website.

Thanks for that info :) It's a pain in the ass only being able to search via UPC on the instant sale main page.

Where does it say limit 10 items per sale?

Stay away from these guys....

Sent in 6 brand new/sealed games (purchased from bestbuy) In 2 separate orders, 3 games per order, 1 wii, 1 xbox, 1 ps3, all same game (disney universe). the wii version was paid out from both orders, and only of of the xbox versions was paid. The other 2 ps3 games, and 1 xbox version were rejected for being "unauthorized copies". Just got back today in the mail 1 ps3 and 1 xbox version that was rejected, which are now opened and back of the case is covered in labels. the xbox cash is cracked and missing pieces.

At the very least, if they are going to deny a trade in, why even open a game up that is brand new w/ factory seal. So dishonest imo. Will not be using this scam of a company again (not half.com, the trade ins are sent to some third party company named Elovations)

If the value is still that high I'll be a guinea pig and risk getting 'screwed' like it seems a few others have with these 3rd party vendors. I have no business done on half.com but I am established on eBay.

It's quoting me $32.14 via Paypal for :360:Rayman Origins. Challenge accepted. About to print the shipping label and invoice.

This is your one chance, half. Don't mess it up.

Same here. I've bought plenty from Half.com before, never had a problem, so I'll give their trade-in a shot with Rayman. Chose PayPal as well, since I'm not sure I will want to actually buy something from Half (so willing to lose the extra 15% on it). $32.14 is still a damn good deal.

thats not the same. When you buy from half you are buying from individual seller.

I already got my email confirmation for my Resistance 3 shipment and it has been credited. Worked for me.

Hmm, odd. They recieved 2/3 of the games I shipped (sent Resistance 3 a day later so they should receive that one today or tomorrow). Anyway, I submitted for Paypal for $10.50 for a disc only copy of Hulk Hogan's Main Event. When I checked the status, it said the trade in value increased to $14.00. And that's what they deposited in my Paypal. Never seen that happen before where they increase the value after they gave you a quote, and then give you the increased value! No complaints so far!

I got the email that they'd received my games, no payment yet though. Says "processing" on half.com. Any idea how long it takes for them to pay up?

I lost several hundred dollars selling on half.com
They handle payment (not paypal, or anything else)
When/if someone with a stolen card buys something on half, they get to keep the product, and you do not get your disbursement in two weeks.
Run, do not walk, very, very far away from Half. Here is a thread on a subforum if you want to read more

this is a separate operation. (likely) a 3rd party, along the lines of amazon trade ins.

i am very wary of selling on half any more. i was burned when a buyer lied to try and extort money from me (i told him to F-off so he filed a complaint with half, neg feedback, etc etc...)...made me realize it's their word against yours, and half takes buyers side to give good customer service.

i just scoped a rayman origins trade (30 ish for ps3), but was too slow and didnt grab a copy from the gamefly sale...(i had a GC that i wanted to convert to cash)

Perhaps, but I still would not have anything to do with anything on half ... wanted to get the word out there .. .if you are waiting for funds, you may never get them (and be out product).

what are the chances they care about online codes? I still got my two copies of Madden sealed but was thinking of opening one and play them. I can get $46 gc or 40 paypal not bad since I paid only 32.

Man, I sent my copy of R3 off on the 6th and they still haven't processed my instant sale saying it hasn't been received...

My guess is the Wii versions and possibly the 1 XBox 360 version were accepted and the others were rejected were that the other XBox 360 version and 2 PS3 versions were special Best Buy versions with a different UPC than the standard version. It is messed up that they opened and damaged the games though.

My Resistance 3 copy I traded in got approved today, so that's a relief. Probably going to hold out for a %off code before I use the credit though.

This was pretty amazing. I managed to get rid of some old games for great Paypal cash.

:360:
Rayman Origins - $32.14
Dead Island - Submitted for $15.57 but got bumped to $16.35
Batman Arkham City - $18
Warhammer 40k - $16.37

Rayman Origins will definitely get cheaper in a few months. I'll buy Dead Island GOTY and Arkham City GOTY when they go cheap since I've already beaten the main games. and Warhammer 40k is free on PS3.

It was cool since it got received and processed in about a week after I mailed it out. Great turnaround time and I'm just waiting for Resistance 3 to get accepted for $18. Thanks for the heads up on these games, guys.

I sent in Madden without the online pass and got full credit for it.

I just got my credit for Resistance 3. I must say, I am very impressed. I do wish their prepaid shipping labels had a tracking number to keep tabs on the delivery, but that's not a huge deal unless you run into an issue. It took just under a week to receive my Paypal credits.

Hulk Hogan's Main Event disc only - $14.00 (up from $10.50 I was quoted)
Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine - $16.37
Resistance 3 - $18.00

Not bad at all! I used the money (plus the money from Just Cause 2 that I sold on half.com, not instant traded) to pre-order Steel Battalion and pick up Skyrim. And I have my PSN copies of Warhammer and Just Cause 2, and I still have a copy of Resistance 3. Sounds like a good deal to me!
