Ronald Page seemingly had it made when Bank of America unintentionally changed his account status, allowing the 55-year-old man to make unlimited ATM cash overdraft withdrawals.

But ABC News reports that Page, who in reality had only $300 in his checking account, used the accidental loophole to withdraw more than $1.5 million—losing it all on gambling.

And even worse for Page, the U.S. Attorney's Office in Detroit says he is now facing 15 months in prison after pleading guilty to charges of theft of bank funds, $1,543,104 in total between December 1, 2008 and May 31, 2009.

The day the Bank of America glitch went into effect, Page reportedly withdrew $312,000 from ATMs at the Greektown Casino in Detroit and an additional $51,727 from the MGM Grand Casino. Bank of America placed a hold on his account 17 days later, but he had already withdrawn $1.5 million by that point.
Idiot.

So wait. He gets jail time for spending 1.5 million of money that he wasn't his...yet many Wall Street/Big Bank cronies who spent billions that wasn't theirs and made risky bets on our economy haven't been prosecuted at all? This guy was a complete idiot to say the least however.

Ain't it great to think about it like that? But they were just making business decisions right? That makes it "better."

Ordered to repay the funds? The guy had a few hundred in his checking account, they want him to pay back 1.5 million?

He wont get a day in jail he will Play the RACE card and say

THE WHITE MAN DID THIS TO HIM

wait and see...

one time okay everyone can forgive him but he did this over 6 months and HE Knew it was not his money.... Yea we bet he lost all that cash....

and the first thing will be

bring charges against the mail person who ran over my pokemon gba game years ago :)
You'd think he'd come to the realization after losing the first few thousand that he was terrible at gambling.
If not the first few thousand than the first million at least

It was a decent plan. Double his money at the casino, then go to the bank with half and say "Damn, your crazy ATM gave me all this. I'm an honest person, so take it back."

I think it's a bot. Gives me a bit of faith in humanity that way.

I read about this the other day on a news site and all I could think of was 'man I woulda done something completely different with that money'. What a waste.

You know, the real winners in this are the casinos he dropped money in. While BofA is busy siphoning nickels out of this guy for a lifetime because of their own fuck up, all that dirty money has basically been whitewashed into their accounts.

Despite the glitch allowing him to continuously overdraft his account, how does a bank not take notice of a single account withdrawing over three hundred thousand in cash in a single day?

I have to call my credit card company if I plan on making a big purchase out of state because they will often block the purchase for "unusual activity" if I don't call customer service, yet some broke guy can withdraw over a quarter million dollars in a single day and it goes unnoticed for over two weeks???
Meh if all he had was $300 and homeless it couldn't have hurt to try and win and repay. Lol.
This actually makes sense hahah.
I bet that he has at least $500,000 hidden somewhere. Using the casino story as a coverup.
Doubt it. He withdrew all the money from ATMs inside the casinos and then there's the fact that casinos have cameras EVERYWHERE. I'm sure they have just hours and hours of videotape of him losing all that money. It would be very easy to determine if he spent it all or not.

My only real question now is, was he ever ahead at one point lol?
