Final Fantasy VII (PC DD) w/ Achievements, Character Booster, Cloud Saves for $9.99

Never heard of this. Surprised NA Squeenix hates the money this would obviously make them.
"Cloud Saves".
That made me chuckle, too. I was thinking, "Cloud saves what?"

We know whom he doesn't save ... :applause:
Cool news, but this isn't really a deal.
It is if you want an official venue for it and an upgraded version without having to pay exorbitant prices.

Now when they say Achievements, what do they mean? Is this Steamworks or something?

Or is it *shivers* GFWL.... or is it something different.

Something different, because it is currently exclusive to the Square-Enix Online Shop.

However, it was registered in Steam files along with Final Fantasy VIII, so expect them to make their way to Steam soon.

Given the system requirements listed on the bottom of the page I wonder if this is enhanced in some way (please at least a resolution bump, 640x480 would be torture today).

If they put FF VII-XII (not counting XI or X-2) on Steam, dear lord I would eat them up.
Last time I looked I'm pretty sure I saw FF 7, 8, 9 and 11 (mmo w/expansions) in the Steam Registry.
Only Final Fantasy VII and VIII (also listed a second time as 7 and 8) are in the Steam registries.
Yup you are correct, just searched them. http://cdr.thebronasium.com/app/search/Search.name:final fantasy
Only 7, 8, 11, and 14 appears
Unheard of website or actually bothering to look in the Steam registry files. Hmm, who to believe...

The website I used is actually well known throughout the Steam community (even used here on the Steam thread as well) and also shows it listed. They're both correct, just different methods of seeing the registry.

At least he keeps GP Guy's pockets lined with gil. His kids must be fatter than Don Corneo by now...

No graphics update or anything? They could have at least included a codex or something cool like that. Not worth it for achievements and a cheat system, essentially. (I already have it for PC.)

how is that even possible? are you still using windows 95..?

Congratulations, you proved that Final Fantasy VII is, in fact, in the steam registry files... which is exactly what the guy you quoted was saying... by linking a site that has an easier to access, up to date list of steam registry files...

Also, is anybody sure this is actually from Square Enix? I know they are planning on doing something like this because of the leak a few weeks back, but all of the text in there is from the leak. And it doesn't appear to be an official SE domain. Plus I think the original leak mentioned Steam.

What's the point of cloud saves? Does someone have use for FF7 to have a cloud save feature? I'm doubtful, but do you think they will figure out a way to support wide screen? It be nice if they redraw the prerendered backgrounds to support better resolution and wide screen. If they were really creative they could've reused assets from the FF movie to redo the cutscenes.

This post makes me feel old! :(

Minimum System Requirements:

Microsoft Windows XP/Vista/7 (32/64-bit) • 2GHz Processor or faster • 1GB RAM •
DirectX 9-compatible graphic card

So this is just one more attempted money grab before releasing a proper HD remake? I think I'll stick with the PSN version.

I'm down for this day one. Sold my PC copy years ago, whats going on with Character Boost? Why would this be a selling feature it's like the new Mario "let me run the level for you", that takes out the fun.
Hopefully it's a port of the PSX version. The PC version's music was terrible... all in MIDI form.
If you used sound fonts it was awesome. Oh my old awe 32 how you show my age

Lol, I know it's corny but every time I've seen the info regarding this FFVII re-release with the "Cloud saves", it's made me chuckle as well. :D I think Squaresoft planned this ever since the development of FFVII seeing as it was the first FF game published for PC's, just so we could all get a big laugh when they re-released this since I believe the "cloud" moniker relative to computing was around even back then, though very rarely used and most likely not even available to your average PC user. But still, it was all one big set up for this.

Im interested in seeing how this looks on the PC as it looks awful on a PS3 blown up on a HDTV. Im sure the PC will have several different resolution and graphics options to make it look better as well as the option to play in a smaller window field. This is good news as the old PC release was for Windows 98, I believe and nearly unplayable on 7. I hope theres the option to use a gamepad as well

Yo Square-Enix, I'm really happy for you, I'ma Let you finish, but Final Fantasy VI is one of the best video games of all time! OF ALL TIME!
