Has anyone used the AVID video editing app? How does it compare to iMovie?

That is my next purchase after I finish my current project in the next week. From what I have read, AVID wins over iMovie. Supposedly, AVID supports files from an SD Card and multiple Audio Tracks. I have some wicked plans for it along with VJay and Action Movie FX.

There is one point of concern though as AVID has sold their consumer product line including AVID for iPad to Corel, which should take effect within the month (although who knows how long before they update the app to acknowledge this). This is part of why I'm holding off on it until I know I will have time to work with it. By that time perhaps Corel will have some sale to promote the change 8-). Of course, it may be good to go ahead and get the file for it before the change over just in case it goes downhill with Corel.

EA Games has another $0.99 sale including Mass Effect (not into it), and most of the others. Looks like they gave up on the $1.99 select titles sales that has been going on for a year.

I have that, I'm looking for something to just draw or let my daughter draw. Not a game but an app.

Sketchbook Pro. It's currently 1.99 (it bounces between that and 4.99, though it was .99 once), but it's as powerful as you want it to be. You can use levels, opacity, brushes, tools, or you can just draw. The interface is good for making it easy to use it either simply or complex. Best drawing app I've used by far.

Draw something. Basically pictionary with friends. There are both free and paid versions.

Draw Something was great a few months ago, but I've noticed a huge dropoff in people playing -- most of my opponents have moved on. I think their decision to monetize wordsets is wrong-headed -- you either use the boring words they never seem to update, or you pay for the good ones. Given the in-game economy, you have to pay real-world money for the good words (The best 'deal' is equivalent to 32 coins for one bomb. The most you can earn for a match is less than 10 coins. Worse than Vegas.). This sucks.

I vastly prefer Charadium II. You can play it like Draw Something or you can play it live, which is where I think the action is. It keeps you on your toes and doesn't get dull and the wordlist is huge.

Both apps have their share of idiots. The ones in Draw Something tend to annoy me more because you spend time creating a good drawing and they're all "duh...derp". Because Charadium is faster paced, the bozos matter less.
Now playing: Some Game I Last Played Months Ago (DS), Ancient Game I Tried Once (PS3), Why Do I Never Update My Signature? (360), Backlog Assassins (iPad)

I noticed that Batman Arkham City Lockdown is on sale for .99 again.

Now my phone says I don't have enough space to download with 2.2 gb free. Does anyone know the full size of the game when installed?

I've noticed that you sometimes need almost double the space to download something, I have no idea why. It's really a pain with apps that are over 1 gig... I've actually been a lot pickier about games because of how much space they take.

I'm really looking forward to the next Gameloft 99 cent sale so I can pick up both of them.

Triple Entendre Scifi (http://appshopper.co...-entendre-scifi) is free right now. Apparently it was free for a day last month, but I missed it then. I made it through 80s movie edition, but got stuck on original a while back and never went back to it. Haven't tried Scifi yet.

It's because the entire app is download, then it is installed. You need at least double to download and install a new app.

Can you or someone explain to me when you install updates are you reinstalling the whole game or just a patch? I've never understood that. :bouncy:

Probably the whole thing overwriting all app data except what is created for the user.

The Superman game always seemed interesting to me, so on monday I finally gave in and bought it and.... it's pretty dumb. I'd give a whole overview of it but I'm sleepy so I'll just say that it's far too simple and repetitive

This, and also I don't really know for certain, but I always assumed that app downloads are compressed to save on bandwidth, and then are uncompressed on install. That would certainly account for at least some of the discrepency, anyway.

Not sure who originally suggested this one, but 'Score! Classic Goals' is free for the first time:

Alright, I've got two apps having me questioning them. First up is MineKart 64 for iPhone/iPod - http://appshopper.co...mes/minekart-64

and then there is iMonopoly, which has dropped to free, except it is not published by EA but yet it looks exactly like the one they currently offer. - http://appshopper.co...nment/imonopoly

MineKart 64 seems like a rip-off cross over between Minecraft and Mario Kart 64 and well that Monopoly isn't by EA so what the heck.

Yeah, that developer looks shady as Fuck. I would stay away fromboth of those. Look at the rest of their games... they're all ripoffs that have different names when you load the game versus what the title is (according to screenshots). Shady shit...wouldn't be surprised if it ends up trying to steal your itunes password either.

Do the Square Enix games ever go on sale? I wouldn't mind grabbing one of the Final Fantasy games for cheap.

Seems to be 2-3 times a year for half off. My guess is the next one will be Thanksgiving.
