So I have had my eyes on these for a while and I am ready to make the jump...I can get either one for about $60 total. (My brother works at Gamestop and after his discount they are about 60 bucks.)

The big question....which one do I get?!? I already have some digital downloads of a few games from when I originally had a PSP as well. I am leaning towards the Go, BUT I kinda like getting UMDs and I am sure they will be on the cheap going forward.

What do my fellow CAGs think? I would love some feedback form you guys and gals. Please help make my decision easier. I'd appreciate any input or advice.

***Oh and I already have a 4GB memory stick for the PSP/PSP Go.

go psp i'm shocked go survived that was a miss
plus with UMD you should be able to download to your computer and transfer if you ever move up to a vita

I've had my Go for about 6 months now and I am happy with it overall. The one advantage of the go is that you can use a Dual Shock controller (you need a PS3 to sync it, and the controls are mapped directly) but otherwise, it can cramp your hands fairly quickly (I can't play for more than an hour) and the analog slider is uncomfortable as fuck.

If you don't care to use a Dual Shock for playing PSP games, I would go for a 3000.

If you're going to go all digital I'd say disregard the Go and get a Vita. The screen is bigger, the analog sticks are superior, the dpad is better and the screen. Oh damn that screen knocks the shit out of ANY psp screen easily. Fidelity wise, color wise, black reproduction wise. It just stomps the PSPs asshole. If you're gonna go digital get the vita and NEVER look back.

I'd say a PSP 3000.

If Sony would have released in North America the PSP E1000 or PSP Street, then I'd really jump on the PSP Go. The PSP Street was a budget model version of the PSP 3000.

The PSP Street removed several features like stereo speakers and Wi-Fi. I'm sure there are more features removed.

The PSP Street in my opinion would have easily complimented the PSP Go. You would have the PSP Street for UMD games/movies and the PSP Go for your digital versions. I mean they were different enough to own at the same time.

Well I am NOT in the market for a VITA...don't really care for anything on that system going forward and right now. I have a 3DS, an IPOD Touch, and an Android Phone. I can get any apps I want on those so the VITA is of no interest. Its more that I wanna play some of the PSP library (Jeanne Darc, Castlevania X, etc.) And now with the systems being so cheap as well as the games, I figure now is the time. Plus I am sitting on some Gamestop credit so its not much out of my pocket. So yeah, its totally between the PSP Go and the 3000 systems. I appreciate your potential insight on the Vita though.

I'd go with a 3000 especially since you get pick up a ton of cheap UMD games off Gohastings during their 30-40% off sales.

I'd definitely go with the 3000 (or a used 2000 or 1000) unless you find a GO for a lot cheaper.

You may find that you want to play an older PSP game that was never put on the PSN and then you're SOL with the PSPGO. Also, the memory cards aren't exactly free and if you have to download all of your games, the 16GB of PSPGO's internal memory might run out rather quickly. My PSP 1000 has a 25mb memory stick but that's all I need for save files.

My general impression from various forums is that most of the people who bought the GO ended up regretting it.
PSP 3000 is the way to go! Plus, don't forget to get some clearance PSP accessories from BBY...especially the $0.99 screen protector.
And the 4gb memory stick pro duo for 1.99, plus the PSP ear buds for 1.99 (BB clearance).

I too would recommend the 3000, much better system than the Go. Bigger screen, better ergonomics, etc.

I really really like the Go actually. Bought it to replace my cracked 1000, and don't find it uncomfortable at all. I've played Final Fantasy Duodecim for hours straight on it no problem. I'd say I have slightly larger than average hands too, so I was afraid it would be uncomfortable, but it's not.

In terms of pure functionality, you can't go wrong with the 3000. It's more comfortable for the hands, has a larger screen, a UMD drive, and a larger battery. (Though actually, if not for the analog stick, my favorite would be the 1000. It has this comforting heft to it)

The Go is fun though, and it being ultra-portable is very nice. The only problem being that all games are going to have to be downloads.

For me, it would be the Go easily. I own a 1000 launch day PSP, a 3000 and a Go. The 1000 and 3000 are for my sons and the Go is just for me. Fits perfectly in any pocket, light as a feather, looks great and plays well.

Thanks for the help my fellow CAGs...i actually winded up passing altogether on the system. I think Im gonna wait until they drop some more. Yep, I'm a cheap ass. :)

I would definitely say the PSP 3000, but with a significant caveat. You need to make sure you are able to get some memory sticks for it. There is a good chance that you won't be able to find any new, so you will have to check used game stores for memory sticks.

Sony discontinued the production of their memory sticks a little while back, and finding them in-store is becoming increasingly difficult. Most stores that clear out their current stock probably won't order more. In another few months used game stores might be the only place to find memory sticks.

You do know that you can get cheap memory stick micro cards on Amazon and other places on the web? 8gb micro cards by Sandisk are 7-10 each at least on Amazon, and micro to pro duo adapters are very cheap as well. I recently got 3 8gb cards plus 3 duo adapters for under $30 shipped. And of course BB clearanced out the 4gb ones for $2 just recently.
