I'm heading off to college and I need to pick up a new laptop. Problem is, I don't know enough about building a computer to get a decent enough laptop. I'm looking to use the laptop for basic internet useage (YouTube, Facebook, email, etc) and lower level gaming (like TF2 or Minecraft). I'm not looking to play a Crytek game on full settings or anything. My price range is 700-900 dollars. Anyone have any suggestions?

That one can do everything you listed but gaming. I'm pretty sure a dedicated video card is not in that system and the atom processor will not be sufficient to run games.

Do you have a budget or what is your spending limit?

Check out HP's website for a laptop, and use the 30% coupon code from this website.
Probably the best deal I've seen anywhere.

I got a custom DV6t with 15.6 1080p upgraded screen, quad-core Intel Core i7, 8GB ram and a Geforce GT 650M for only $950.

Pretty nice deal. You can easily cut the price down with a dual-core cpu and cheaper video card. (keep the 1080p screen though!

I've bought several HPs in the past, and they have not lasted long at all. I constantly had different kinds of problems with them, and when my motherboard died on my laptop, I decided to switch brands. So, for me, the priority is finding a computer that lasts a long time.

I went with a Sony Vaio 3 years ago, and it still works great without any problems. I had to replace a charger and a battery (which are to be expected, sometimes), but besides that, it's been great. I paid about $800 a few years back, so I'm sure you could find one in your price range that's good.

This one seems pretty good, but it doesn't list the GPU. http://www.amazon.com/Sony-VPCEH37FX-15-5-Inch-Laptop-White/dp/tech-data/B006MB7DX8/ref=de_a_smtd
