Wow. Okami by Capcom sure looks good...

Stuff like this is exactly why i don't understand why companies will strive for hyper-realism and gamers will clamor for it, too, when things could look so much better than real.

Holy God that is beautiful. And I totally agree with you D. I would rather have absolutely perfect cartoon graphics as opposed to super realistic people whos faces look like they are constantly trying to take a shit, etc.

Upon further inspection, this game's story seems very similar to another game with non-conventional graphics.

I can only hope Atlus brings this over if Capcom won't

bring life back to the world.... must eradicate the monsters that have stolen the earth's 'color' or 'life force'.

Those graphics are pretty spectacular, but I didn't read into it. What is that for? I'm guessing PC but it could be Xbox.

According to Gamespot it's a PS2 exclusive.

" Okami is set in a fantasyland that--thanks to some of the supernatural monsters that inhabit it--is almost completely devoid of color. Players, assuming the earthly wolf-form of Amaterasu (a mythical sun god), must return color to the land by defeating the monsters.

Since Amaterasu is a deity, his power is, in part, derived from humans who believe in him. A respectable level of belief can be achieved either by listening to and then acting upon the wishes of the people or by restoring color and life to the land. The more faith people have in Amaterasu, the more powerful he becomes.

Further information on Okami is scarce at present, but Capcom was eager to point out that the game's Japanese art style is not just a gimmick. The distinct graphical style is, apparently, designed to help set the pace of the game--encouraging players to relax to enjoy the beautiful scenery rather than just rushing through the game's missions.

Ah, we must be seeing cut-scenes then. Unless this takes advantage of the HDD.

Oh, they're using some kind of Ico effect where they blur the screen to make it look like water colors. I award Capcom for using that tecnique as it's the only way a PS2 game could look that beautiful.
it's not a crime to like PS2 graphics.
Well, I'm just saying, when it comes to graphics, PS2 is definitely on the low end. But that's understandable considering it came out a year before GC and Xbox.

dude the graphics are good leave it at that, harping on a 2 year old system war that the xbox and gc lost make you look like a fanboi.

(I'm not calling you one I'm saying it's pointless to make a big issue of it.)

I'm not, I was just surprised by the graphics when you said it was a PS2-exlusive so I said my thoughts of how they made 'em look like that. And I gave PS2 it's props by saying it's understandable if it's graphics aren't as good as Xbox's and GC's because it's a year older than both of them.

i remember playing this game where monsters drained the colour from the land and you had to restore it and help the land and its inhabitants.

it was called cubivore.

but that's the only sad part aboout the game. otherwise, i want it.

The engine kinda reminds me of the Viewiful Joe engine like it plays on a path and tryies to immitate a hand drawn style. Seems like we could almost expect to play the same (without the slowmo and stuff)

This will never make it to the US, though Agetec would be the best bet, especially given that they have worked with Capcom before -- Space Channel 5: SE.

Looks awesome.

We won't be getting this game in America.

I wish we would, but I don't think they'd see enough return, on such a pointed title.

I'll definitely import this one though.

I don't think that the graphics would pose a problem on any of the current consoles, though.

Cel shading, requires less rendering, and this isn't a technological feat. Just something unseen in a game, kinda.
