$20 promotion is not confirmed by others yet.

Apparently you can take a short lesson/class on Windows 8 and upon finishing it you receive a $20 gift card.
Went to the MS store at 6am this morning to be one of the first 100 people in line to get the $99.99 Xbox Music Pass card and to check out the debut of the Surface tablet.

First time at the MS store because it's at a large mall that's mainly tourists so I try to avoid it all costs. I went early cause Im used to chaotic Apple events but the lines at MS didnt build up til 9am area. After opening they held an approx. 35 minute class on Windows 8, just 3 people and myself sat down to listen to speaker in a store full of people lol, but afterwards I received a $20 giftcard

I think the classes my be going on all week, every hour on the hour.
Old Information about Bing vs. Google challenge.
Went to the Microsoft Store today at Valley Fair Mall, San Jose CA. I did the Bing vs. Google challenge and was given a gift card voucher upon completion. It's worth 25 dollars and no minimum purchase required. The vouchers are good in store only and until the 25th of October.
These are some of the better options I think other than pts or live gold cards. Seems like the South Coast Plaza store wont be "getting" any until friday. That is if they sell them in store.
Can you preorder X360 games in store and get $10 bonus and 1600 MSP still?
No this offer was never offered instore. What they did was order on their website in store to get that offer.

Good thing about this Bing challenge is that they are not taking your information afterwards. So you can come back once a day if you wanted to. You can't combine them though.

I can confirm this and that it can be done mult times. I got 1600 ms points with it for free or you can get a 3 month xbl card for free

Time to make trips to the mall more often, are these like the gift cards they have during the phone challenge? If they're more like coupons can they be stacked?

What's the Bing vs Google challenge like? Did they dumb down a lot of the results?

Edit: Nevermind, just took it on http://www.bingiton.com ; I don't know how Bing won 2:1 among people since I just took it and 5/5 searches I preferred Google results over Bing. idk

No they are not like the real giftcards they gave out for that promotion. They can not be stacked as well.

Took it myself, did independent searches off of that page to verify. Out of 3 tests, Bing claimed 4 pages that Google actually found. Have to cheat at a blind test, smh.

So technically I can get unlimited tickets depending on how long I just wait or go. It's a great deal but not worth it since the closest store is 30+ minutes away.
Google tells me it'll take me 1 day and 10 hours (if avoiding tolls) to get there, so it's not worth the gas money.
People believe Bing will give a better time there 2 to 1 in blind comparison tests.

I need to go down and do that. How do Microsoft Store preorders work? Can I preorder Halo 4 with this voucher and use it to pay down the preorder? Then you'd get a real 25 dollar gift card.
If only I had a Microsoft store nearby. :(
This. Never even seen one nor knew they even existed. When I saw references in the past to "Microsoft store" on CAG I always just assumed it was Microsoft's online store .

Hm. There is a Microsoft store in the Fashion Show Mall here in Vegas. I guess a free $25 voucher is enough to warrant driving through the strip I'll head down there on Tuesday after school.
closest store is 30 minutes away in the Mall of America. I don't know if its worth it to take the risk.
I might go tomorrow and check it out; if you get there before me, tell me if its going on so I can save my time and not go; I'll do the same for you if I get there before hearing anything from ya

Just took the challenge myself and also got 5/5 google pages

I dont know what kind of scam this is

I searched poop, peepee, shit, penis and the f word

Bing wanted to show me a lot of porn videos so maybe thats why its winning

Woo local cager! I'm going to head there tomorrow so ill report my findings

Expires one day before the Surface launch.. Whatt do you guys think of the surface by the way? I hate the fact tthat they've been keeping it on the down low. I don't know much about it other than what I've seen in their reveal presentation 3-4 months ago..

I did the smartphone challenge and lost (Overland Park store) and got a $25 gift card for it. I then asked if they had any sales on games and they said no, but they'd give me another $25 gift card to help me choose. Got Asura's Wrath for $5 that day.

Went back to the mall a few weeks later (live 60 miles away) and got another gift card for doing the same challenge.

The Tysons Corner store is doing the same thing, if you're able to pull the 6+ employees away from playing Dragon Ball Z Kinect long enough to do it. I even got a free shirt too.

Hoping to get back there this week for a discount on 007 Legends.

No store in Nashville right now but green hills mall is getting a holiday store end of this month.

Anyone know what the hell that is? Guessing a kiosk type thing like you see from dell?

You should have Bing'd it.

Holy crap, my mall has a Microsoft store. I didn't even know, it must be pretty new. I guess I stop in after work. Do I need to do anything specific? Do they carry a lot of stuff?

I did this a couple times and got enough ms points for the bl2 season pass if anyone doesn't know what to buy with the gift card

Could someone break down the whole in-store "Bing Challenge"....what's involved, how long does it take ? Do you just walk in and ask to take the challenge....and does EVERYONE get a $25 voucher/gift card ?
There's a store here in the Scottsdale, AZ area.....and just don't want to get embarrassed, expecting to get something, if there's more to this "challenge" that hasn't been explained. Thanks.

I don't know about the Bing challenge, but the smart phone challenge was that they had a series of cards with tasks on them and you raced your smart phone vs their windows phone and if you won, you got a $1000 gift card. Losing got you a $25 gift card.

Someone did win once while I was there. Not me though.

You just go in and ask someone if they are doing the Bing It On challenge. They will take you to the computers where they do it. Basically, you search any keyword and choose which search result looks the best. After you check the left side or right side box, it will tell you to search for another keyword again. You search a total of five keywords, and at the end, it tells you how many times you chose Bing and Google. After that, the guy will give you the $25 voucher. It doesn't matter what your result was. Everyone who does it will get the voucher.

thanks for typing that up, gonna add it to the OP now.
Can you hse these vouchers online ? If so I could snag a free final fantasy 13-2 as its 19.99 in the online store
I think they match online prices in store so shouldn't be an issue in that regard.

Huh, cool. Guess this finally gives me an excuse to drive to the nearest Microsoft store. Been wanting to check it out anyway. It'll be interesting to see how it compares to the one on Microsoft's campus in WA. Guess I know what I'm doing tomorrow.

Did they check for jailbreaks/roots?

So this is the rigorous testing that proves that people prefer Bing to Google two to one.
