[Dead]Majin and the Forsaken Kingdom (360) $10.21 @ Amazon

I think I bought it on PS3 a while back for $10 on sale but I just couldn't get into it. Gameplay was too simplistic. If you're not looking for too much in the way of a challenge I'm sure $5 will be well spent here. You just have to be in the mood for it.

Decent game, well worth it for $5. Its basically a giant, tedious escort mission, but it has its charms.
This is never on sale for the PS3, must be the extremely superior version ;) lol
The PS3 version has always been more expensive for some reason.

The PS3 version is definitely not superior. As an example, if your PS3 is set to 1080p, make sure drop it to 720p when playing. Otherwise, the game will attempt to run at 1080p by doing some horrible, horrible upscaling. (It's a known issue.)

Yea, it's a simple game, but it totally clicked for me as a fun game.

I don't understand how this game isn't more popular - it is exactly like Zelda. I guess they should have made the protagonist an Adonis like Link.

Escort mission would imply you have to protect the Majin though. Really, it's more like him protecting you, so I didn't think it felt like an escort mission at all in the negative sense.

Anyway, I just wanna say that this was one of my favorite games this gen, so it's easily worth a try at $5. It's kinda Zelda-esque with a few Metroid-type elements as far as backtracking/powerups go. On a technical level, the graphics aren't impressive, but the art direction more than makes up for it.

Yea I'm just messing around. I tried the demo and it was ok, and I would get this, but I prefer to play it on my PS3. It just never drops down low enough.

Same boat I was in; I far prefer my PS3 for games. I finally got a PS3 copy for $10 on Amazon awhile back. I enjoyed the game far more than I expected, and my 3 yr/old boy loved watching me play it. He still asks me how the Majin is doing. ;)
So...I take it this game is averagish from what folks here are saying. Is it worth our time to play?
If you have any kind of backlog, not really.

Story is forgettable and the combat is simplistic. It's still fun, but it's a 1 time play through game. It's just an all around average game, there isn't anything BAD about it, but it's also not a game that people will calling back on and saying "we need another game like Majin". If you got nothing to play right now and are just looking to pass the time until the next release you want I'd say go for it, but if you have a backlog skip it.

It's nothing like Zelda at all, I don't even know how you could come to that conclusion unless you're thinking of a different game.

This is one of those games you will throw into your backlog, never play and then in a year hope you can get $4 or $5 trade value for it.

I agree. definitely not like Zelda.

the game is worth 5 bucks, but anyone who said this is one of their favorite games this gen, i have to question why. it was extremely simplistic and the gameplay gets stale way too quickly. its certainly not the worst game or anything, but the art direction and the "connection" between you and the big guy are not so amazing that they make up for the lack in other areas.

this game is the epitome of mediocre. not bad, not great.

Yes it is. I'm not even going to get into this with you because you just like being argumentative, but if you Google "majin forsaken kingdom Zelda", you'll see that most of the major review outlets have made the same comparison so I'm hardly the first. The only real difference is the combat - the lion's share of it goes to the Majin in this game whereas in Zelda it's handled all by you, the protagonist.
The reviewers said the same about Darksiders. Maybe it's just an overused reference in reviews.
Do you get new and better equipment? Zelda game. Do you get new abilities/equipment that allows you to backtrack and access previously unavailable areas? Metroid game.

Beat first boss and decided it was mediocre. It's like Ico, but without the charm of the interesting puzzles and suspense of when Yorda is being captured. I only have enough time for GOOD games.

I can deal with the other voices, but the Majin, ugh. If Jar Jar got on your nerves, wait until you hear Majin.

._.; I'll hold off for now. Huge backlog and Sandy ruined my house so my 360 won't be on for months. This'll probably stay within that same $5 price range through the holidays anyway.

I wouldn't count on it. Historically, prices on games like this take a huge drop in price, continue to drop marginally in price, and then return to normal price after just a few days.

This game did that several months ago, and a lot of us missed out.

In for one at $4.54. Thanks OP!

I liked Majin. It's not a AAA title by a long shot, but it's charming and somewhat Zelda-like. Definitely worth $5.

I picked this up earlier this year for :360: when it was $8.xx on Amazon and 1000G it. It was a nice break from all the horror survival and shooters, and I really enjoyed the game. It's well worth $5.

Deal is dead now. Price went back up to $10.21. This has happened 3 or 4 times now though, and it seems like Amazon still has a lot of copies. It will probably drop back down to $5 again in the future, though I'm still holding out for under $4.
Seriously?
Probably developer, thus his statement is correct.

For free ship, order must be 25. if only they let me order 5 , instead of the 3 limit. I could have flipped 3 to BB and broke even + 2 for trade fodder.
