The Xbox reviews have me worried is this a refurb bundle that's not marked Refurbed or is newegg actually selling these...

^Yeah, all those reviews are from the last few months too, when it was on sale for $35. I ordered then, but actually never even opened them up. Guess I should check them out, though I'm sure I'm too late for a return. Hopefully mine work...

[insert cliche line about having enough plastic instruments to build a fortress]

But no, really, even for that price I just can't do it. For the sake of space. Great deal for newcomers or those looking to replace battered or older instruments though. Thanks, OP.

As it is, I really don't have room for the RB1 and RB2 bundles I own. A third would be free space suicide even at that price, not even considering how I would never, ever open it. Great deal though, especially with free shipping.

Smells like a warehouse space clearout. No Newegg, I will not sell you space in my gameroom!

I'm assuming these work with rockband games also? I haven't bought any of these music based games since guitar hero 3 so it would be nice to have a drum set if i ever have friends over.

Edit:

looks like it does. Awesome. Going to order one now. Thanks!

I had great memories of these kind of games back in high school, I haven't played music games for a long long time but I can't afford to buy another one of these and have it sit in my closet after a few weeks.

Back in high school, I think my friends and I played it for about a month or two. Then i stuffed all this shit back into my closet never to see the light of day.

I actually purchased this kit when Newegg was selling it for 35$ a couple months back.

I think the reason people think it's refurb is because it is packaged with the "world tour" or generation 1 drum kit. Yet the stock picture on newegg shows the generation 2 set. A little research shows Activision screwed all but the europeans out of the generation 2 drum kit.

Anyway this is easily remedied by putting in a ticket on Activision's site, they will email you a prepaid label, slap it on the box and send it off and about a week later you will get a brand new generation 2 drum kit.

At 25$ this is a steal, may pick another one up just for the second guitar.

I'm thinking of biting...regardless of the drums, which one could place a ticket w/ Activision for a new set of drums as mentioned above...this deal is worth it for the guitar alone.

Can you elaborate on how to go about submitting a ticket on Activision's site? Would like more info on that.

how does this compare to rockband? never bought these types of bundles before because they were so expensive. also probably only fun at parties. but for $25 maybe worth it just to have

FWIW I bought a new set for around the same price about two years ago (from AAFES), and had terrible luck with the drum kit AND guitar. However, I may try again...

Just go to http://support.activision.com/ you'll have to create an account. Then search band hero, find the drum peripheral list it as malfunctioning or something like that. Put in the note that Newegg shows this kit should have come with the generation 2 set. ( I actually don't think it matters because it appears to be automated.) Wait for the email then print the label, put it on the box the drums come in and ship it off.

Note: I took the mic out of the drum kit before shipping and the new kit did not come with a mic so you may want to do that as well. Good luck.

I've updated the first post with information to the Best Buy sale going on. It's gonna run you $20 more, but in all honesty it's a good deal still. The Guitar alone would run you $50 if you're looking to buy one, but you're getting extras. If you really want the game get it at Best Buy while you can, you wont find that price again.

Agreed, this is a great deal. Does anyone have a coupon to make this bundle cheaper?

I need replacement guitars for RB and I missed this[/QUOTE]
Yep, me too. I just started hunting eBay for a cheap Rock Band or Guitar Hero guitar, since I left mine at home when I left the country. I figured they would be cheaper than they are currently going for. But nope.

Newegg would have charged me $12 for APO shipping, but this would have still been good. I guess for a bit more Best Buy will ship it for free, but I need to think about it and maybe wait until Friday.
Can't get every deal though, oh well.

Edit: And nevermind. Decided as soon as I posted to order one and Best Buy will not ship it to an APO for some reason. There aren't any li-ion batteries in it to my knowledge, but whatever. I'll keep hoping to get a guitar for -$20 on eBay.

Band Hero is an all right game, 3-4 songs I really liked, but it comes with the GH5 guitar, which is easily my favorite plastic guitar of all the GH/RB guitars. If someone were to get this and then a copy of RB3, they'd have a lot of good ahead of them.

Got my PS3 set yesterday. All looked new and unused. Box has been sitting in a warehouse for awhile though. Tested everything though and no issues. Don't think I'm going to try and get the "Updated" drums unless there was some major revision though.

Edit: Decided to go ahead and do a support ticket for the drums anyway. I searched for Band Hero on the support site and it didn't come up with anything about the wrong drums being in the bundle. So I just filled out a generic ticket. I also decided to call the support line and the guy was kind of a dick and basically said no they won't switch it out.

The newegg picture shows the newer set but the box on the bundle shows the older World Tour set... Not sure where RiPPn researched but I also couldn't find anything online about this.

I got my band hero set for the 360 right now and it looks terrible. The box looked like it was opened already and then someone just put some tape around it. I can see a section of where the old tape was that ripped off some of the label of the box. The batteries that came with the guitar were 2 double A batteries not packed up or anything. Normally they come shrink wrapped or in some sort of packet. The moisturizer packet with all the toxic little balls was popped and went all over the guitar box and some went into the headpiece of the guitar. I'm just hoping it didn't fall on my floor. I checked the drum section of the box and the rubber parts of the drum stand have a layer of either dirt or dust. I'm positive this was a return and they just resold this. I'm going to try out the pieces in a bit.

Edit: I tried the drums and guitar. Both work fine, not sure how sensitive the drums are suppose to be. The yellow and orange ones seem like the require a bit of force to be hit. I might just have them on too tight.

Here's what I did so far:
1) Go here: https://support.activision.com and create an account.
2) Go here: https://support.activision.com/Atvi_my_support_games and add "Band Hero" to "My Games".
3) Then go here: https://support.activision.com/Atvi_warranty_returns and fill out a warranty claim.

The instructions then state: Hardware: Return Required (Drums, Guitars, DJ Decks, Tony Hawk Boards, Top Shot Elite Guns, Fishing Poles, Kinect Gun, Skylanders Portals, Legendary Champions, and Location Items)
Use your case number when inquiring about your warranty claim
Please print the label you will receive via email to ship your item to us
Please allow approximately 7-10 business days from the date we receive your item for delivery in North America. In Europe, please allow approximately 14 business days.

After that you should receive an email confirmation. However I have yet to receive the shipping label/mailing instructions via email (I submitted my claim on the 10th).

How long did it take for others to receive that?
