of course it is! How long has it been since we have seen Giant Robots fight Giant Monsters? Not since the early Godzilla movies right? Damn this better be in IMAX.

The one thing that really really irks me is the way they are controlling the giant robots. They couldn't just fucking pilot it? They have to act like they are playing some stupid ass kinect/Wii game?

I thought the same thing when I saw Mobile Fighter G Gundam after watching all of Mobile Suit Gundam Wing, but overtime the guy shadowboxing inside of a robots head concept grew on me.

No one is mentioning a certain Aperture Science Robot voice? I'm surprised...

And I got more excited for this then I did any of the Transformers movies.
Transformers fans are going to eat this up. This looks AWEFUL.
Guillermo Del Toro did both Hellboy films, Pan's Labyrinth, The Devil's Backbone and Blade II. Not to mention this movie got instant love with the small clips they showed at SDCC. So I can give this man all the benefit of knowing it'll be good as long as he's not just merely a producer (Don't Be Afraid of the Dark sucked).

I love giant monster movies so it's an instant win with me.

You guys are stupid and awful.

That's why I'm a bit surprised this looks so bad. Although his past movies were very smart, this is just another mindless special effects bonanza movie. But really, on paper it's giant robots fighting giant monsters, it has BAD written all over it. Ideas like this should be kept on Syfy.

Considering your recent movie reviews:
Planes, Trains and Automobiles- Old and lame
Little Miss Sunshine- Indie garbage
Sound of My Voice- Indie garbage
Moonrise Kingdom- Indie garbage
I take nothing you say seriously.

I was surprised how bad Don't Be Afraid of the Dark was. It was really really awful.

For me personally, I have just been waiting for a big ass robot fighting monster movie for the longest time. Especially one given a proper budget and not just man in suit. To each their own, but I always enjoy Guillermo weird balancing act of doing critically praised movie like Pan's with pure popcorn fare like the Hellboy movies.

Yeah, saw The Orphanage because he was attached as producer and loved the atmosphere and patience that movie brought. Don't Be Afraid of the Dark was just full of stupid horror cliches and unlikeable characters. That and Katie Holmes is a terrible actress in everything I've seen her in. Mama doesn't look that promising to me either though from all the trailers...

Yes, because those were meant to be taken seriously.

I agree 100%

Is that cuz it wasn't full of all the torture porn that you enjoy?

Your movie reviews weren't serious? I thought they were.

This has the chance to be really bad, but I'll give Del Toro the benefit of the doubt. You have to make a bad film first before I can question.

This movie will be terrible. I will see it opening weekend :D

Seriously, we all know the "plot" is gonna be shit, but damn if it doesn't look entertaining. And yeah, threw me for a loop when I heard GLaDOS haha.
Mentally I made this an episode of Sons of Anarchy. I really hope giant sea aliens is the plot for season 6
hahahaha

Less than a week a way!! Early reviews says its good!

Got the soundtrack the other day..... oh my fucking god!  Ramin Djawadi did an amazing job.  It's too bad he didn't do Iron Man 2 or 3 as the music was lacking in those two. :whistle2:\

If the effects are as good as they are, then Godzilla is going to be fucking amazing next year.

Up to 85% now @ RT.

IMAX 3D FTW on this one.
oH Hell YES!

I am kinda worried though.... That Grown Ups 2 might end up making more money as families may take their kids to see that and or Monsters University/DM2 vs having scary monsters fighting robots :whistle2:\

i just came back from the screening. this movie is damn good! i give them a 10!
Without spoiling the movie...

-Is it worth seeing in IMAX 3D?

-If so, how were the 3d effects?

-How many Kiju (sp?) vs Jaeger (sp?) fights?

-Does the ending open the way for a sequel?

- Yes its worth seeing in 3D ETX (Dolby Atmos)

- 3D effect was mindblowing, surround sound & vibration was so intense from right under my seat.

- About 4 Jaeger vs 3 Kiju on land plus more from underwater (my guess is 3 or so)

- I'm not sure by that sequel cuz I left after the film before the credit roll.

Just came back from the 10:30pm

The 3-D was actually well utilized compared to Man of Steel.  Spend the extra cash and see it in IMAX/ETX or whatever your area theater upcharges for.... shit man I may even spend the extra money for D-Box.

The film exceeded my expecatations, which is incredible actually. Everyone should see this; it definitely deserves to succeed.

I'm gonna see it again in D-Box at The Plants Theater in Van Nuys. I hope to god I won't get any back or neck problems. LOL

Saw it tonight. Loved it. Totally loved it. If I was 7 years old or so and saw this movie my brain would've goddamn exploded. The visuals were fantastic and the 3D was super well done since Guillermo Del Toro seems to know how to make depth and things happen both in the background and foreground.

The only downside is I saw it at the 10:30PM IMax 3D screen and the theater wasn't even half full. I Super hope this movie makes back all it's money and then some.

Oh and there is a scene after the first set of credits so just a heads up.

Yeah, that end scene was amusing. It really made me feel like I was a kid again.

I am going to try to convince my brother to go see it with me in D-BOX.

Great...I was going to the movies to see Despicable Me 2 with the wife and you guys may have changed our plans with this IMAX 3D talk. It's been awhile since I'd seen a movie in IMAX 3D...In fact, I'm going to ask her right now.

EDIT: Hell yeah, she said yes.
