I just read the prequel graphic novel and it was a good lead in.  I'm even more excited to see the movie now.

oH Hell YES!

I am kinda worried though....  That Grown Ups 2 might end up making more money as families may take their kids to see that and or Monsters University/DM2 vs having scary monsters fighting robots :-\

Without spoiling the movie...

-Is it worth seeing in IMAX 3D?

-If so, how were the 3d effects?

-How many Kiju (sp?) vs Jaeger (sp?) fights?

-Does the ending open the way for a sequel?

- Yes its worth seeing in 3D ETX (Dolby Atmos)

- 3D effect was mindblowing, surround sound & vibration was so intense from right under my seat.

- About 4 Jaeger vs 3 Kiju on land plus more from underwater (my guess is 3 or so)

- I'm not sure by that sequel cuz I left after the film before the credit roll.

Just came back from the 10:30pm

without spoiling it, this is how I felt throughout the movie....

:bouncy: :hot: :robot: :whee:    (in a good way) :-o :-o :-o :-o :-o :-o :-o    =; :-\" :applause: :applause: :-o :-o :-P :applause: :applause: :applause:   :D :D :whee: :whee: :whee: :robot: :robot: :robot: :robot: :hot:   :bouncy: :bouncy: :-o     :whee: :whee: :whee: :whee:

The 3-D was actually well utilized compared to Man of Steel.  Spend the extra cash and see it in IMAX/ETX or whatever your area theater upcharges for.... shit man I may even spend the extra money for D-Box.

Saw it tonight. Loved it. Totally loved it. If I was 7 years old or so and saw this movie my brain would've goddamn exploded. The visuals were fantastic and the 3D was super well done since Guillermo Del Toro seems to know how to make depth and things happen both in the background and foreground.

The only downside is I saw it at the 10:30PM IMax 3D screen and the theater wasn't even half full. I Super hope this movie makes back all it's money and then some.

Oh and there is a scene after the first set of credits so just a heads up.

Yeah, that end scene was amusing.  It really made me feel like I was a kid again.

I am going to try to convince my brother to go see it with me in D-BOX.

Great...I was going to the movies to see Despicable Me 2 with the wife and you guys may have changed our plans with this IMAX 3D talk. It's been awhile since I'd seen a movie in IMAX 3D...In fact, I'm going to ask her right now.

EDIT: Hell yeah, she said yes.

Title and end credits

Personally I think the end credits reminded me of the Avengers end credits.

Holy shit, this movie was totally awesome.  I loved every minute of it.  Being a huge Godzilla fan, this movie was right up my alley and makes me miss new Godzilla movies.  I hope the new one doesn't suck as much balls as the last American one.

I think Del Toro is banking on all the classic godzilla and monster movies of the 20th century fans to support this movie.  Little kids would find this "cool" teens and college kids don't seem to enjoy it that much (well at least in my group when I saw it).

Anyone see it in D-BOX yet?  God damn it's like 23.50 for a ticket :(

So I take it not awful like you originally thought from the trailers?

Sorry, couldn't help myself.

And Grown Ups 2 made more then Pacific Rim on Friday. What the Fuck is wrong with this country? Giant fucking robots fighting monsters and great reviews versus an Adam Sandler film with a 7% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and reviews all saying in a film with Chris Rock and other celebrities is over shadowed by Taylor Lautner in the comedy department. Seriously, what the goddamn Fuck?!

Broke my heart seeing this on the box office. My midnight showing was only half full but my buddies and I are going to watch it again on dbox tomorrow. Hope it picks up cause a part 2 already makes me giddy.

The reason for this is because there are too many family movies saturating July right now...everything from Monsters University to DM2 to Turbo to Grown Ups 2 is causing parents to spend more money and time on those movies than PR.  Reviews for GU2 isn't so great but all those pussy parents don't want their kids to be "scared" from CG giant monsters.  Shit I've seen scarier shit in the 80's lol.

so what were you guys eating during this movie?  I had chicken tenders and a supreme pizza and a large coke.... I swear I had to stop chewing because my mouth kept on opening up during some scenes.
