As I'm approaching my official 100th transaction here on CAG, I figured it's time for me to give back. I'll be giving away 400 Microsoft Points.

All you have to do is post your favorite video game AND tell me why it's your favorite; a couple sentences is fine. The contest ends December 23rd and on that day I will pick my favorite answer and that person will be the winner.

Thanks CAGs!

Congrats to Blade and Vulgarism! Merry Christmas CAGs!

Definitely TellTale's The Walking Dead. I don't think any other game has had me in tears before and the writing is just superb.

Season 2 can't come soon enough.

Saints' Row because it's like GTA before it started taking itself too seriously.

This may be a little obscure, but my absolute favorite game is The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker. I know a lot of people were unhappy with the change, especially given the screens Nintendo revealed of the game a year before--I have a poster of it on my wall and they look more like Twilight Princess than Wind Waker--but I personally loved the visuals. It was a crisp, refreshing art style that hadn't been done much before, and it has been duplicated many times since. Not only was that great, but the feeling of such a continuous, open sea world only enhanced the experience. If only you were able to go underwater, the game would've been incredible; but it was only a GameCube game, so the lack of that much depth (heh) is understandable. The story and locations were also quality works, the likes of which you'd expect from a top-notch Nintendo title.

Finally, the ending to Wind Waker is amazing. It's one of the best endings I have ever seen to any game, movie, or show. It's just awesome.

The Secret of Monkey Island

When I was a kid this game blew me away, the graphics, the funny storyline and the fact you could sword fight using insults. I loved that era of adventure games when nothing had to be serious or even make much sense, it didn't need high polygons or 5.1 surround like it, the games were just fun.

Spelunker HD:

Not only did it expand upon the originals base concept, but it added roughly 20x more content and included HD or 8 bit designs. Needless to say, it's amazing people look down on that, but praise Sonic 4 despite costing 50% more.

For me, Suikoden II is the epitome of video gaming. Great storyline, addictive collecting of the 108 stars, an upgradeable home base, fishing, fun combat, and to top it all off, a badass cooking minigame. Never has a game grabbed me nearly as much as the first time I played through Suikoden II, and I honestly believe that there will never be a game that tops it in my book.

The Secret of Monkey Island. Before that game I'd never played anything that made me realize games could be so funny and have such great characters. It changed the way that I think about games and what I look for in them now.

My all-time favorite game has to be Chrono Trigger on SNES. IMO, there was nothing even close to it at the time it came out. Personally, I don't feel many modern games even come close. SO much content slammed into a 16-bit cart. Epic music (that's still heralded to this day), a great and engaging story (we're talking 1990's here; would it hold up today? possibly.), no random battles, great skill progression, awesome use of Mode 7 (!), and I could go on and on. For me, in my gaming career, at the age I was when it came out, playing it was downright magical. Chrono Trigger for life. RIP O.G. Squaresoft

Metal Gear Solid 3. It came out at that perfect time in my life where the gameplay and story somehow transcended every other game I've played and spoke to my heart. I have since finished its story more than 20 times and I'm still not bored in the least bit. I've done everything the game has to offer and I still find boundless joy in its steamy jungles. Oh yeah, killing dudes in the mountains, letting vultures eat them and then making Snake eat the Vultures is one of the best things EVER.

This is tough. Let's go with Fallout 3. I didn't imagine revisiting the Wasteland would be so much fun. There is a lot of bang for yr buck in that game

Pokemon Gold is my personal favorite. It was my first pokemon game. I got that and a yellow Gameboy for christmas that year :D. I would stay up really late on school nights, trying to catch every pokemon in the pokedex (Trying to catch a scyther in the bug catching contest, was the worst).

Thanks Tsel and congrats

My favorite game is Gunstar Heroes. I love the game. It was one of my first original Genesis games and I still have it to this day. Seriously one of the best of all times, in my opinion. Thanks for the chance at this contest.

E.T. for Atari. The graphics are astounding, the gameplay is phenomenal, and it is exactly like the movie! My second favorite would have to be MW3. Gotta love those spawns!

The Mass Effect series as a whole. Amazing story (until the end of course), and great gameplay and the best set of characters I've ever encountered in a game series.

Halo.

A few friends and I were running around not taking things too seriously, when we encountered some like minded gamers. We decided to party up and see how things went. The few hours I spent with my newfound Canadian friends were wonderful. After 6 months of playing almost daily with them, I've realized how awesome Halo is :D

Snatcher for the Sega CD and with use of Konami's Justifer. I remember being blown away by its story. I had always had a sweet spot for RPG's and quirky off the beaten path type of games. This cyberpunk thriller had it all and I loved it. Learned japanese to play this on the pc engine. Thats dedication holmes. :0)

Awesome contest! I have to say my favorite game is bioshock, the story was gripping and I enjoyed the gameplay a ton, especially with all he powers and story twists, it was an epic adventure from start to finish and I'm excited for infinite!!

I have to go with the Mass Effect series - making the choice of who lives & who dies along with some of the minor decisions played a part throughout the series. I like that.

Final fantasy X...I know some people will say it's "too linear" or "7 was better" but I really enjoyed the characters in 10 and that ending was the first time a gave ever made me teary eyed.

The Elder Scrolls 3 Morrowind because it's the game that introduced me to the wonderful world of rpg's, not to mention the fact that every single thing about the game is amazing! The storyline, the side-quests, the weapons/armour, just everything! I especially loved collecting all the really unique weapons and armour! The Chrysamere and the Lords Mail from the guy under Ebonheart were my favorites, although all the unique items are really great!

Sorry about the more-than-a-couple-sentences. Typing this up has made me try to figure out my gaming history (did I get the N64 before/after gameboy pocket?)

Going with The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening DX for the GBC.

It was one of my first "real" games (received for Christmas in 1998?) and entry into the LoZ series (may have picked up NES LoZ in flea market prior but likely after as the title nor sticker on cart would not have caught my attention). Probably the first game I actually beat and completed (not really completed as I never got all the damn photographs).

The cut scenes were nice, probably first game I played that had them. Also the music was good - again didn't play many games up to this point. Getting Yoshi in the crane game (recalling trying and dropped my gbc for first time in some condo my uncle was cleaning up) and stealing from the shop were fun. Also the bonus "color" dungeon was the first "post game" mission/area/etc I ever played in any game.

I recall looking up online (AOL dialup!) and in some free gaming magazine sent in the mail on how to get all the seashells (for the master sword beam) and trading sequence. Not sure if I was able to beat the game own my help though. I have beaten the game at least 6 times (a lot for me) and I think twice in one day last I played, and I am have to see if it still works this Christmas and beat it again!

Legend of dragoon for ps1 has to be my all time fav. U got to do turn based fighting but with a kick. U got to push BUTTONS!!!!

Final fantasy x- the game was so great, the story was amazing and had me excited to play it every day, then the ending was great, a little sad BUT I DIDNT CRY... (whispers) i didn't cry.

Ogre Battle 64. It had the appeal of a strategy game, with the "collect 'em all"-ness of Pokemon, and what I remember as a good story. Still waiting on a proper sequel.

Thanks for the contest!

I really enjoyed Borderlands 1 & 2 , still playing it, the variety , the loot. Still waiting for the next DLC for Borderlands 2. Simply as that.

I'd go with UFC UNDISPUTED 3, I just like the fighting and the amount of techniques and grapples you can perform is just awesome. I normally don't like sports games but this is addictive as hell.

I loved the original Natural Selection. It opened me up to a world of modding and I still have good friends from what must have been at least seven years ago. The game itself was unique with asymmetrical teams (marines v.s. aliens), mixed RTS and FPS mechanics (Commander sending commands to real people), and a leveling up mechanic (marines with bigger guns and alien classes with bigger teeth). It was a perfect storm of the right game with the right people and at the right time in my gaming life. I'll never have another experience like it again but I'll always have nostalgia for this game.

Super Mario RPG Legend of the Seven Stars

Not only did it have Geno but it had Bowser as a playable character teaming up with Mario (Bowser would later claim he let Mario join to Koopa Troop temporarily) which was just amazing.

Oh and did I mention GENO. GENO GENO GENO! Damn you Nintendo I want more GENO!

All The Gears of War games ... My Brother got me into them as i was a Halo fan boy but played Gears and fell in love with it.. to this day all i really Play is Gears 1-3 all the time out of like 100+ games i got..

Don't worry about it at all. These are the types of answers I enjoy reading more anyway. I just didn't want people saying the game was their favorite because it's cool or something along those lines.

The Legend of Dragoon.

My favorite RPG of all Time :D First PS1 game I bought, and it blew me away. The story, the themes, the characters, the only thing I Look back on today is those Sprites.....o god those spirtes XD And if you try to play it on emulation on PS3, the speed throws off those Timed Extra Attacks..... that's why I need a HD remake of it :D 1st game I make when I win the lottery is the HD remake. 2nd is the prequel :)

Shenmue, those games were so amazing..... I never (to this day) played a game that made me feel so much like I was the character I am controlling and playing for fun, not trying to just complete the game... i'd walk around for hours just taking in the scenery.... loved that game, wish they'd make a part 3 and finish the wonderful story.

Ocarina of Time is my favorite game. I think it really did a ton to revolutionize gaming in 3 dimensions, not to mention Hyrule in OoT was totally awesome with a million things to do.

My favourite video game is NBA 2K13. I am a massive basketball fan and it's a good simulation of the game and I am ridiculously addicted to it. It's a great improvement over NBA Live!

Thanks for the giveaway

Alien Zombie Megadeath

Because you are a spaceman out on the cyberspace not knowing what you are doing since you are stuck there, just to kill some alien zombies and you will die a lot, but the game is so simple yet so hard.

It is a game I come back constantly from trying to escape lasers to kill you, you have to put the bomb , save babies and score medals in the same process, it is one of the best and my best game by far.

thanks for the contest.

Star Wars battlefront 2
Mutiplayer was a blast.
Was awesome when you got to be a jedi. I still lol when I think of the emperor flying around.

Thank you for the contest.

My favorite video game of all time is Zelda: Ocarina of Time.

I just have realy fun childhood memories of playing the game all day as a kid on summer break. It was so open to me at the time it seemed like I could go anywhere and do anything. There was places to go, people to meet, secrets to discover, mini games to win. You could also ride Epona and that was the first time I got on horse on a video game. All around the game was just a dream come true for me. But there where also the mummies at the grave yard... that use to freak me out. Good game, fun childhood memories, whats there not to like?

My favorite game is Final Fantasy VI, because it was my first RPG and it had great everything for me: great story, great characters, great music, great gameplay. I have nothing but fond memories of it.

The Culdcept Series (Culdcept Saga on the 360 in particular since its the only one released in the states that has functioning Online MP, but heres to hoping the 3DS iteration gets localized soon!) reigns supreme for me, I simply wish it was promoted better here in the US. Everyone I've ever introduced to the game (be it a Shooter Bro Dude, RPG Purist, or Casual Gamer_93532562) has absolutely adored and fell in love with the captivating mixture of Magic the Gathering with Monopoly. Theres so much depth and strategy to be created within the decks, but the the chance element works well in tandem that even novices stand a chance.

Plus its always a blast to dominate your pals in a good match.
