Nintendo Force Magazine... Is it crazy enough to work?

Update: Nintendo Force is awesome! The first issue was a lot of fun with good writing from passionate Nintendo fans, plus some great artwork and an overall feel that really captured the spirit of Nintendo Power. It's more than just a nostalgia trip, though. These guys are fashioning Nintendo Force into something to really look forward to every other month.

They've got subscriptions running now through their site (http://www.nintendoforcemagazine.com/) and issue 2 is due any time now. Subs are available in digital, print, or combo. Great stuff for the die-hards.

I'm sure some of you have already seen this:

It's Nintendo Force... apparently a new Nintendo fan magazine coming in January 2013 with the intention of filling the void left by the closure of Nintendo Power.

The staff is stacked with talented people from numerous gaming sites who have been slugging it out for years, not for money but for the love of Nintendo and gaming.

Not sure how viable a paper-based magazine is in 2013, but this might just be crazy enough to work. What do you guys think?

Make an iPad magazine version and just roll that out every month

Nintendo Power's quality died a long time ago but I'm guessing it continued to sell due to the brand and name recognition. This magazine won't have either, so it'll be an uphill battle.

Currently playing:

:ps3: Yakuza 5 - :-k (Boo... multiple characters, I wanna play as Kiryu)

:vita: Odin Sphere Leifthrasir - :)

It's tough to try to be a magazine now, honestly, I just don't see the point when gaming sites provide plenty of coverage. Then again, I get the local newspaper delivered twice a week and newspapers are on the decline, too, so there probably are enough people out there to give it a shot. Between this and the Nintendo magazine that got funded on Kickstarter, I'd be very surprised if both are successful financially, and fairly surprised if even one is a success.

Now Playing:

:wiiu: Legend of Zelda: Minish Cap

one more idea, integrate a magazine within Wii U. You have the touch screen, might as well use those capabilities to the fullest

I don't see what it has over Nintendolife or any other fan site. They could've just run with that instead of trying a new identity

I wish them the best of luck, but it's a hard road ahead for them (or really, any new enterprise).

Interesting, it is an uphill battle being a Nintendo fan, but there is still a market for them. IMO, kind of pricey for a print magazine and $5 for a digital one is just as pricey.
