it doesn't automatically ring up $12.99? Or maybe when the cashier totals it up the price will be $12.99? does anyone know? I'm planning to pick one of these up tonight if I can utilize $5 upgrade and save.

It didn't. I had the movie guy, who took it to his label scanner, and it printed out a $24.99 tag. He said sometimes the online site has sales that don't reflect the actual stores. No biggie for me though.

Went in tonight and picked-up:

Taken 2 $7.99
Resident Evil: Afterlife $4.99

Was ready for this to be my last trip, but the cashier was nice enough to return my coupon and trade-in receipt again for the second time.

So if the cashier gave me.back my coupons as well, can I use them more than once? Isn't each coupon unique/can only be used once? Thanks.

I picked up:
Hangover (steelbook)
Hangover II (steelbook)
Pulp Fiction
Kill Bill
Kill Bill II
Inglorious Basterds
Casino Royale
Catch if me if you Can
Sherlock Holmes
Social Network
Book Of Eli (steelbook)
The Departed (steelbook)
Taken

(all for 4.99 a piece, they adjusted Catch me if you can on accident to 4.99 and I didn't have the heart to correct them :P)

Sadly I missed out on the sherlock holmes steelbook in my area, but oh well

While browsing the blurays on the first day of the Upgrade and Save, I noticed my BB had a couple copies of the Army of Darkness Screwhead Ed bluray for $9.99.

Because of the 5 at a time limit, I put off buying it until later. There were 5 other blurays I wanted more. I went back to buy Army of Darkness today and I realized that it was the DVD version.

I have to thank Best Buy for their awesome shelving. It was my own incompetence, but I was very disapointed today when I realized my mistake. Also, the film was filed under the "Drama" genre. I can see Army of Darkness being labeled as either Action or Comedy or maybe even Horror because of the cover art. I don't know why anyone would think it's a Drama.

snagged a copy of taken 2 with coupon for 7.99 , also finally found a copy of gladiator. this is never in stock at any best buy I frequent. my only beef was I thought I missed out on it again. I looked in action and only saw the dvd, but I remembered all the comments in this thread and found the bluray version in the drama section. consistency is the only thing I ask for.

anyhow I used the 5 off, and a bonus 5 dollar card I was sent for being a silver member. pleased with my pickup.

You could also went to a dollar tree, or bought them and returned them to your store and then get coupons.

Don't confuse my lesson with your "logic". :)

Joking aside, I was in an area I was completely unfamiliar with and the idea of return/rebuy did occur to me but it felt like a hassle. Especially with the lines and customer service in Best Buy at times. So I figured I'll try to hit my local store after a restock and see if it's meant to be. Helps with the "should I or shouldn't I spend more money?" debate.

Lord Kefka... you're insatiable.

Just a heads up, if anybody has a MovieStop nearby, you can swing by there and pick up some DVDs that are 2 for $5 to flip them at Best Buy.

Also, has anybody had any luck this time around with HD-DVDs at all?

Yeah, I carried around a copy of Iron Sky with me the entire time I was looking at movies. I was cutting my purchases down to 5 movies, and almost made it all the way to the counter before I realized that the DVD was the one on sale and not the blu ray.

I had a trip of 5 HD-DVDs early in the sale. They took then all without any questions. Mixed in a few more in later exchanges too.

It looks like all the $9.99 steelbooks went back up in price.

It is YMMV regarding HD-DVDs. Stores aren't supposed to take them, but some do. Likely depends on who is working the counter and if there are any managers nearby.

I found that with both HD DVD's and Blu-Ray Trade ins, that if I put them into regular DVD cases they don't seem to care, but the moment they see The "Blu or Maroon" (or whatever the hell the color of HD DVD's are) they get all red-flaggie....

Will they take the movie without the original case artwork? My wife has some movies that she pulled out the discs and put them in cd carriers ( NOOOOO!!!) . I do have some empty DVD cases.

No, you need the artwork. But you can just go online and print out some and you should be fine.

Paranormal Activity series on sale

Thanks for the info! :D

I've only seen the first one so I'll probably pick up that 3-pack, assuming they're the unrated versions on individual discs.

I agree. I have put a few of the DVDs from Blu/DVD combo packs into blank DVD cases, then printed out black & white artwork, and they've taken them. At first I put mixed in 1 or 2 with my stack of 5 movies, then later I did a trip of all 5 like that...they took every one.

Picked up Alien Anthology for 18.99 after coupon, as well as Louie S1 for 4.99. They had to manually override Louie because it scans as a DVD, even though it is a combo pack in DVD packaging.

Had my first denial with this today...

I seen Dredd was on sale, and after Red Box-ing it the other night I knew it was something I wanted to own. I grabbed a DVD out of my junk bin and went to customer service, I was given a receipt and a photocopied version of the coupon.

I was able to get the last copy of Dredd and went to check out. The coupon they printed wasn't working, so we went to another register where the manager was. The manager read the coupon then tried to explain to tell me that the coupon's fine print reads "Not valid with any other coupon or promotional price" I said a sale price is neither, then asked if i could just use the coupon on full price "No, I'm sorry the sale price is what is in the system" After saying I'd used the same coupon on sale prices before, they just weren't getting it. I said forget it, if I can't use the coupon I just got from customer service, then I didn't want it. Then they said "We'll need to keep this coupon in case someone uses it again so we have a record of it in case it is a forgery." I said fine, I wouldn't be shopping there again away.

This place deserves to go out of business.

You should have pointed out that in their own ads it shows the price of the movies after the sale price and coupon together, or had them call corporate in front of you to verify how the coupons work. I wouldn't have given up personally.

Yea, ditto. The store was obviously in the wrong this time. A call to someone higher up would have ended it on your side.

Picked up what's probably my last purchase for this promo. Girls. Yea, wanna fight about it?

Did you get your junk bin DVD back? As junk as it may be, they don't deserve anything if they can't help you out.

I've been sick as hell the last few days. Since there's nothing else I wanted from the sale, I was hoping to take a couple more DVDs in to get coupons to use on Skyfall and Silent Hill 2 once they come out. I haven't even been able to make it out of bed hardly. Sucks. At least I was surprised with a Reward Zone coupon in my email last night.

How were you planning to use these when those movies come out? they are only good during the time of the promotion.
