BBY employees are all clueless

While this has proven true in most encounters, the last time his promotion was going on, only the manger seemed to know about it, but the coupons apparently weren't in yet (idk why..), so he just took $5 off each movie I bought

Fellowship (Note it says Bby in the title, most likely truncated as Bby Exclusive i.e. Best Buy Exclusive). Here's another one for it with a different SKU.

Two Towers

ROTK and ROTK

Note they list some ridiculous amount of LOTR Blu Rays on their site, no idea why. They have at least 5 or 6 different skus for different versions at different price points - $9.99, $14.99, $24.99, 29.99 and $34.99

Well, got 2 out of the three I wanted, 2 Broke Girls S1 and the Lost Boys 3-pack. They didn't have the Austin Powers one, but I will hunt it out at a couple stores Mon and Tues and then maybe special order it. The coupon I got was so weird as it stipulated something like you receive the coupon after you talk to a Mobile Specialist to see if you qualify for an upgrade on your phone...still worked no problem and I got it at the C/S counter.

Just got back from my BB in Mays Landing, NJ. Had a list of about 15 movies, found about 10 of them. The girl at customer service had my trade in processed in less than one minuet. Ended up getting both 3D Harry Potters for $10 each, Dog Day Afternoon, A-Team, and Donnie Darko 4 Disc Edition for $5 each. D. Darko wasn't on my list but I was a sucker for the slip cover and it being 4 discs.

Ah, thank you for the insight. so it seems that the Steelbooks, which I also think include the Extended versions are $14.99 each before upgrade and save....meh, I think I'll pass then. I'm a cheap ass. :bouncy:

They've always had trouble with the Donnie Darko BR releases. So long as you're not looking for eye-ejaculating perfect lifelike video, then you have no worries. Besides, it's not a film that needs to look crystal clear, and for $5, it's perfect.

Yeah I read the review on bluray.com and it didn't give it too hot of a score. But I agree I can live with it since i got it for $5.

BB employees were talking about an cell phone upgrade and save promo instead of the DVD trade-in. Two employees I talked to didn't even know the trade-in was starting today.

Got Inception (blu+dvd), Big Lebowski, Austin Powers 3-pack, and 2001/Clockwork/Shining 3-pack. Wanted the Corpse Bride/Chocolate Factory one, but it looks like only Corpse Bride has closed captions? This is what the case itself says. Can anyone verify for me if all three movies have closed captions? I'm hearing impaired and need them.

They've actually done the cell phone one previously, where you get a $5 off blus coupon basically the same as U&S for them doing a quick check to see if your cell phone qualifies for an upgrade deal. Just another method of getting an additional U&S coupon (or three).

Or they're talking about the $5 cert for electronics including old cell phones, decent deal if you have a lot of older phones collecting dust around the house

I traded in two dvds I haven't watched in ages, so I figured I wouldn't miss them. I picked up Zombieland and The Departed/Goodfellas/Aviator triple pack for $4.99 each after coupon. I love the U&S promotion!

Going to be trading in some blu-rays today and picking up some others. Hopefully that works.

There are no shortcuts. No do-overs. What happened, happened. Trust me. I know. All of this matters.

Would I have any issues if I use two $5 RZC along with a upgrade and save coupon? I plan on getting Taken 2 for $5 after the two RZC and the U&S coupon.

You shouldn't.

I was able to trade in 3 dollar tree blu-rays without a problem...most likely YMMV.

You could try simply trading out the cases with regular sized DVD or game cases if you have some extras laying around. The cover art would be a little short, but it would be a little less obvious.

I've traded in about 23 copies of Dirty Sanchez from Big Lots, sometimes with three or four in the same haul, and they typically didn't care. So long as the DVD looks legitimate or is a legitimate release, you shouldn't have any problems.

I was first for the upgrade and save, made sure I had an ad in hand to help the process go by as smoothly as possible, and got it done within about two minutes. One of the managers had to write the sku on a receipt with her name for a couple of customers after me (along with me) so they weren't prepared. Oh well.

Picked up:

Dredd 3D - $17.99
Saving Private Ryan - $11.99
The Town - $4.99
Restrepo - $4.99
Troy/Alexander/300 - $4.99

For a total of $48.54 after tax. Still have about $22 in GCs, going to get another $6 for another game trade in, and $10 worth from a broken iPod and old broken phone, so I'll be working with about $38, which I will hopefully get Inglorious Basterds (none in stock when I went, le sigh), Children of Men (forgot to look for, le sigh), The Hurt Locker, King Kong, Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, and probably I Saw the Devil.

The Book Of Eli steelbook

Donnie Darko 4 disc edition
The Town
V For Vendetta/The Watchmen/Constanine
300/Troy/Alexander
American History X/ A History Of Violence/True Romance

Well I just got back from best buy I found five crap DVDs I wanted to trade in and my girlfriend got 2.
She got breaking bad seasons 1 and 2 for $8.99 a piece after coupon. I'm going to lol for seasons 3 and 4 at a better price at a later date.
I got batman begins and the dark knight rises steelbook for $4.99 each after coupon to go with my dark knight rises steelbook.
And I decided to get all 3 lord of the ring movies steelbook for $9.99 after coupon. Then when the hobbit comes out ill get that in a steelbook now. :-)
I was wondering tho with that cardboard slip that's on the back of the steelbook cases that just kind flaps on it do u guys just pull those off and throw them away or do u keep them? I think they look sloppy how they're attached so I thinki want to throw them away.
Now I can go trade in my DVD copies of batman begins and the dark knight towards my next trip there maybe next week or something. I might trade in my copies of 300 and Alexander also for the blu ray triple pack with Troy. I tried to go to deals to get a few $1 DVDs but all there's were $3 so I might go to a different dollar store see if they have some $1 ones. And those batman movies and Alexander movies r good enough to give away as a gift but they people I know prolly wouldn't give me $5 for them so I guess I would rather trade them in so I get something out of them.
Can we make a list of all the steelbooks best buy sells?

Ended up with...
Austin Powers Triple Pack
Sin City
Mean Girls

My closest store was a wreck. Customer Service Reps didn't know how to process it. While they were figuring it out (asking the manager on staff), a big line formed. You would think since this promo is run so often that employees would remember how to do from previous iterations. Sorry to all those waiting behind me.

Maybe the next store I try with be better off (since I couldn't find everything I was looking for)

P.S. The DVD mixed with Blu-Ray is terrible. Come Best Buy get to the program and move everything back.

I got the last copy of Fightclub, Departed/Goodfellas/Aviator combo (couldnt find the departed steelcase like i wanted to), V for Vendetta/Watchmen/Constantine combo, and Inception Steelbook.

Most of the blurays were cleared out when I went. I had to scrounge around for awhile to find the movies I wanted. I'll probably hit up a different best buy tomorrow to see what they have. I still have plenty of DVDs from Dollar Tree left over =)
