Looking at my posts from 4 years ago (14 years old)

CAGiversary!
Pretty cringe worthy stuff. It's pretty weird growing up on the internet. My adolecance has been documented on the internet and it's the weirdest thing going back and looking at it. At 14 I don't think anyone I knew even knew what a forum was. And I was astonishingly technically savvy even at that age. Life, that is all.

I remember thinking the same thing. Back when I had a DeviantART account, I used to dabble in writing and messing with fractals. Now, seven or so years later, it is kind of odd looking back.

Scary to think that I had my first computer in the mid nineties before I hit ten years old, and I haven't looked back since.

LOL I didn't get my first computer until my Freshman year of college. Dreamcast got me on the internet for the first real time around 2000. HS sucked because everything had to be typed luckily I lived close enough to walk to school so I stayed after all the time.

In response to your favorite stealth game/series in 2004:
Definetly Tenchu.
Gotta love feudal Japan assassins, crazy suicide comitting ministers, and ninja grenades!
Oh yeah, sneaking up for that throat slit rocks.
High five younger me.

I was 15 and my posts weren't pretty either. It's ok. We all go through it

Meant to say I was 15 when I joined in 2005

I dont even want to look back on my posts from 2004(when I first had internet). That was around when myspace was popular and ErrY1 tyPeD liEk diSs. :3

I know exactly what you mean, OP. Every year I look back and can't believe how dumb I was. I imagine this is a trend that will continue throughout my entire life

I'm in my early twenties and I've actually had the pleasure of literally growing up my entire life with a computer thanks to my dad being a complete nerd. My earliest TV was an old Amiga monitor lol and I've had a personal computer and internet access for probably the last decade.

If you're internet memories don't include dial-up and having to fight with others about who claims the only phone line in the house, then you aint shit!

I had dial up but it was in 2000 lol.

Played Phantasy Star Online.
\
And I have the reverse effect, I look back at post when I was in my early 20's and feel dumber now in my late 20's.

Yeah it's pretty odd looking at the stuff I posted in my teens. It's still the same person at heart but a lot of little nuances and attitude are different. Like trying to be a little edgy. Not vulgar or disrespectful but trying to poke my horns out a little bit.
That stuff makes me cringe but it's alright. I'm curious how I'll look back at my 20s many years from now haha.

Case in point.
Hey Guys In the past you have called yourselves hardcore gamers because you play allot of video games however my definition of a "Hardcore Gamer" is someone who is a General in halo 3 and who is Gifted at ALL multi player games but all of you suck at multilayer games none of you are even past SGT in halo 3 and you suck at Gears 2 "No Offense" you even admitted to sucking at gears 2 in the past cagcast. So how can you guys call yourself a Hardcore gamer? . Please Answer Me!!!!!
ugh. Like what was possibly going through my mind.

In 1993 when I was 14 I figure I was still playing outside and not yet completely consumed by my electronics.
Just wait until you're 25 to see how stupid your 18 year old self is. Now your posts in vs, make sense.
Yeah luckily politics and basic economics are common sense. Scratch that, common sense for the non mentally retarded.

LOLZ...there's nothing "common sense" about human behavior. Hopefully you'll mature and realize how not-as-smart-as-you-think you are at 18 in a few years, but you still have your early to mid 20's to stumble through while thinking you're the most smartest and most invincible person on the planet. I miss those days...not to mention eating 2500-3000 calories a day while still being a trim 130.

A sign of intelligence and maturity is knowing how much you don't know about something. HTH

I can only hope to mature to the point where I can use "LOLZ" when articulating responses. But seriously though, the irony that you are describing the common pretentious, government dependent Liberal is rather funny. Since I don't know everything is exactly why I prefaced with "common sense". Specifically because I'm not that naive.

"astonishingly technically savvy" lol

You posted on a forum at 14 - you must be the next Bill Gates.

Looks like the next generation is even more entitled then the last. Just wait until real life wallops you like a sack of bricks.

There's nothing "common sense" about politics or "basic" economics...especially in a society that knows next to nothing about either, which is the opposite of "common." It has nothing to do with political ideology, my point, or the point of this thread because any half-wit over the age of 25 can acknowledge how dumb they were at 18 or even 21. Is this thread about politics or pointing fun at one's younger self for being dumb? The OP and title points to the latter.

YOU brought politics into this. My common sense at 18 will be the same at 40, that's practically the definition of common sense. Certain nuances may change but the overarching ideology will not. You're calling my points less valid, and sounding like a pretentious asshole.

People who think that the best policy can be arrived at by the "common sense" of a layperson typically become libertarian or tea party.

You know the type I'm talking about - they type that would compare the federal budget to their personal family budget when assessing the national debt :dunce:

I was 10 years old when we got our first computer in 2000. My greatest accomplishment was figuring out how to run an emulator and playing the Japanese version of Pokemon Crystal. I also remember having fun in the Yahoo! chat rooms with a microphone haha. I'd go into the karaoke ones and sing "Forgot About Dre"

When I first got access to the internet, I made my own website about video games. It was on one of the free places like GeoCities or Angelfire and it was designed just like 90% of the websites from that time period... Centered text down the whole page, crappy bullet gifs from clip art websites, a terrible background, and pictures taken from other websites because it took too long to upload my own pictures on dial-up. Those were the days .

I remember when I was 14 I used to go into aol chatrooms and get girls so easy. And when you met up with them, they were actually girls! Good times. Shit, that was 14 years ago!

Remember looking at porn? Just pictures. How the hell did I even manage back then..

See, now, I had the opposite experience. I was one of the very first people in my HS who turned in essays that were printed by a computer. And I had to get special permission when I did so - the teachers had it in their minds that that was somehow cheating.

As for the posts that were reported/deleted and ended up getting some people temp banned - I have to say they did have a point or two. OP needs to chill. 18 or 21 or whatever is not all that different from 14 or 16. You'll be saying the same things at 25 and 30 and 40 about your previous self ;).

Just Pictures? What kind of a fucked up world is that? I never even needed mags or DVD's growing up.

I am not and wasn't even denying that to an extent. That was not what he was trying to get at, something much more hateful because he differs with me. Certain broader ideological things I.E vs. discussions will never change. All I was getting at.

Ah, but those will change too - I think that was the point. But I don't want to dredge that back up again so we can leave it be.

Someday you'll look back at your post from when you were 14 and say something similar.  Sadly a lot of the stuff I posted when I was your age is long gone and lost to the winds of time.  Some of it is probably on archive.org but there's no way for me to search for the URL it existed on and I've long forgotten.

Man, I was looking at my own profile here today and realized I've been on this forum for EIGHT YEARS.  Jesus I'm old.

I woukd have to look for old IRC logs to find stupid stuff from when I was 12, but I do remember when I first got unreal tournament for the pc. It was my first online shooter (had played c&c and, warcraft online before though). I spent the whole night playing against bots thinking they were people online.

You think the shit you posted was cringe-worthy, you should see my posts from 10 years ago. Hell, even 5/6 years ago was a mess.

It's always a good idea to look back and realize how far you've come along as a human being.

I was on the boards at Neo-Geo.com practically since the beginning. I don't remember my posts, probably much different than now.

I've been here I don't know how many years and folks here seem respectful. I got my first PC in the late 90s.
