"Just a heads up: we're gonna have a superconductor turned up full blast and pointed at you for the duration of this next test. I'll be honest - we're throwing science at the wall here to see what sticks. No idea what it'll do. Probably nothing. Best-case scenario, you might get some superpowers. Worst case, some tumors, which we'll cut out. " - C. Johnson

Test Drive Unlimited 2.

Awesome racer / cruising game.
If I recall correctly, TDU2 was one of Tony's first ADVG PC download deals.

I don't recall ADVG ever having a Steam-activated version of TDU2.
ADVG's version of TDU2 is Securom-laced.

Hmmm...I wonder if the Steam-version for TDU2 also is Securom-laced.
No clue.

Per chance does anyone happen to know if the DRM on Test Drive Unlimited 2 from amazon is the same on steam the 4 activation limit securom? If it is drm-free I would love to get it from amazon then.

I have had TDU2 from ADVG for a while.
That version is Securom-laced.
I've had it activated for some time.

I'd guess it probably is the same Securom limits; never really looked into that.
I will, though.

Since Atari's pretty much on the brink of bankruptcy here, it'd be nice if the Securom DRM is removed so the game can be played offline, reinstalled, and whatnot w/out any sort of activation bullcrap hassle or anything involved.

@Tony
Any chance you can contact what's left of Atari so we can get the Securom DRM removed, so we can activate & reinstall the game while offline?

Unfortunately, I may have to get the Sims 3 from *shudder* GamersGate. $12.50 for Deluxe, $9.99 after 20%. Unless there is something I'm missing here.

The sale flip time is always pretty much the same on Amazon: midnight PST (12AM-12:30PM).

Yes, but this wasn't a normal "price flip".
The only official word from Tony was "I am not even 100% sure we'll get keys tomorrow. Both my Paradox people are in Iceland"
That was the only thing said. And then it was up a day later without warning or confirmation, and then gone.

I don't feel like digging through old posts, but I believe he said that the pack would up as soon as the "hamsters" got it going. That either means ASAP or the typical midnight flip.

I can see why some people may have gotten confused though.

Agreed. I can't believe even the older EPs are still $10+. I guess people are still buying them. ATM they're cheaper (by 0.19) if you buy directly from Origin.

Looks like the "Stuff" packs will be a little cheaper on Amazon.

Stuff packs are absolutely awful. Grab user made custom content online. Makes stuff pack content look terrible, it's fun to "shop" for, and it's totally free...

It's a bit tougher with Sims 3. There is a treasure trove of very easily accessible AMAZING custom content for Sims 2, but it's a little harder to FIND good Sims 3 stuff all in one place. You can find a lot of good stuff (as well as okay stuff) on a site called ModTheSims here:
http://www.modthesim...browse.php?gs=2

And instructions on installing the custom content here:
http://www.modthesim..._Custom_Content

Steer clear of The Sims Resource. They're run by terrible people. Most of their quality content requires you to pay for subscription, which is actually against the EULA (charging money for user made content on a copyrighted game...), and they have maliciously hacked and destroyed a number of free Sims content sites. To be honest, ModTheSims has a better selection anyways.

My favorite site of all is Garden of Shadows. They have incredible stuff, because they're fairly picky about what they upload, as well as the style. At first glance it might seem like mostly punky/goth/alternative stuff, but there's a lot more great stuff over there:
http://www.digitalpe...ows/index.php#8

If you want to find the best of the best, though, you have to browse Sims 3 Tumblr people. There's a ridiculous amount of incredible stuff on Tumblr, but it takes a lot of time and searching.

Shopping is half the fun of playing the Sims though. ;)
