7/2 - 7/8 ... Ultimate Games Persistent Sales:

* =  Want to Buy Games On Demand Using Microsoft Points? [customspoiler="GonD with MSP"]
Often overlooked, GoD are by default displayed in dollars both on Xbox.com as well as on the console, but on the very-first confirmation screen of the download process is the option to use Microsoft Points in place of real-world currency.

Through the console, after first selecting to download a GoD you are greeted by a familiar gray confirmation screen that pops up displaying the size of the download as well as confirming the price. At the bottom of this gray pop-up is the instruction to press the "X button" in order to change the payment type to MSP. Pictured below with an arrow:

On Xbox.com they've made it much more obvious, the confirmation "extra step" pop-up after clicking the download link displays a link that simply says "Use Microsoft Points" directly under the price in dollars at the top of the page.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Q: What do you mean by GOLD MEMBERS ONLY?
A: GOLD members are paid subscribers to Xbox Live. These deals are only available to them.

Q: I'm an XBOX LIVE FREE member, can I use a 48 hour trial to get the GOLD discount?
A: No. 48 hour codes only work for online play.

Q: What about the promotional GOLD weekends?
A: No. Those only allow online play.

Q: How long is this deal going on?
A: One week (seven days) unless otherwise noted. Most sales in the OP have start and end dates listed.

Q: I'm not seeing the sale price, what is going on?
A: If the deal is live, make sure you are logged-in to Xbox.com or your 360 with a GOLD account. Sometimes there is a disconnect between Xbox.com and the Xbox Dashboard.

Q: When do the deals go live?
A: Deal of the Week deals go live on Tuesday morning usually around 9am EST. (Monday's before 3/22/11)

Q: What about all the other sales and promos?
A: Microsoft has gotten into the habit of offering other sales and promos as well as the Deal of the Week. They are listed in this thread to reduce clutter on the Deals Forum and to help maximize your savings.

Q: How do I buy Games on Demand with Xbox Points?
A: Often overlooked, GoD are by default displayed in dollars both on Xbox.com as well as on the console, but on the very-first confirmation screen of the download process is the option to use Microsoft Points in place of real-world currency.

Q: Should I have any concerns about waiting to buying something on sale?
A: After a few years of experience with Xbox LIVE, ReddJoey thinks you might want to know:
-Items can be pulled from Xbox.com with little or no notice (Games, Content, DLC)
-If you wait for an item to go on sale, it might never come (and the item(s) could be pulled)
-End dates can be flimsy. This could mean the sale is cut a bit short (RARE) or run a bit over (Happening more often). Don't count on this happening if you are on the fence. You might miss the sale.
-Consider keeping 800-1200 points on reserve for a 1-Day sale. They are rare, but you will kick yourself if you miss it

Q: What if I don't see a sale/promo listed here?
A: Post it or feel free to update the OP, as it is wikified and anyone can edit it.

Q: Are there any other links I should know about?
A: Yes.
CAG Xbox 360 Forum - Discussion on games and lots of gaming groups to join.
CAG Xbox Live Free Stuff Thread - Great thread and discussion of the free things on Xbox Live
CAG Xbox Live Subscription Thread - Great thread about the deals for Xbox Live on the dashboard
CAG Xbox Live Code Trading Thread- CAGs trading XBL codes.
CAG Xbox Live Achievement Trading & Discussion Group - A group dedicated to XBL achievements. Join up with other people who are in need of the same achievements you are.
Xbox Live Rewards- Sign up here to get "rewards"/rebates for Xbox Live purchases and other things. New offers every month, CAG discussion here.
CAG Xbox Rewards Thread - The latest updates and discussions about the Xbox Rewards program.
List of XBLA games on Wikipedia - Can be useful for sorting titles by price, but isn't always 100% up to date.
List of XBLA games that haven't been on sale (2010-Present)

Q: What are your sources?
A: Sources:
-Majornelson.com
-Xbox UK DotW
-Xbox US DotW
-Xbox JP DotW
-Spylon's Xbox Live Database
-Various Publications/Blogs

Q: Do you mind if I copy this info and post it somewhere else?
A: Not really, but please respect the hard work that the CAG Community puts into assembling these deals each week, and please mention where you got it from and not just straight copy/paste the posts.

Q: Do you have a list of the older sales?
A: Yes. I'm not sure if it includes every single sale since the beginning of Deal of the Week in 2008 & 2009, but it's pretty comprehensive up until 7/23/2012.

Q: I noticed some talk about "compilation discs?" What is that and is it cheaper?
A: Some of the content from Xbox Live has been put on retail discs. Some discs have XBLA games, others have several pieces of DLC from one game. Depending on what content you are looking for it you might want to consider looking for a retail disc. Some CAGs and ReddJoey have put together this handy list. When an item that can be found on one of these disc goes on sale, a disc vs D/L discussion will likely come up in the thread.

K I'm done reserving. The 2nd post needs a lot of formatting work, which I'll do today. If you have any input for the title, OP, or 2nd or 3rd posts please feel free to let me know. Hope everyone is ok with this change. I think the change will be a positive for the CAG community. Thanks.

I'm guessing we won't know this weeks deals until they go live tomorrow. Hoping for Mass Effect/EA, but not holding my breath... *sigh*
Do you want any help with the formatting for the 2nd post?
I think I'll be alright, I just want to format it the same way as ReddJoey had, then update the links and copy/paste all the spoiler info.

Major Nelson will hopefully be posting the next 2 weeks of sales info on his blog tomorrow. But you're right, we won't know what next week holds until early tomorrow morning.

Awesome. Thanks for taking the baton of making a new thread Tyler and everyone else who edits the OP (Cornelius and Bloomy spring to mind).

Awesome to see a new thread for the year. I hope Reddjoey is alright with passing the torch. He hasn't had the time to maintain the thread lately and now seems like a good time to move on. He did a great job and I have no doubt Tylerh1701 (and everyone else who keeps the OP updated regularly-Bloomy and Cornelius muck about in there a bit) will serve this thread well.

Many thanks to Tyler, Cornelius, and everyone else who maintains theses deals and keeps the information up to date! I know it's a lot of work, but it's very appreciated!

Thanks for all the support, guys. :) 2nd post should be formatted to be almost exactly as ReddJoey's old FAQ, I just updated and tweaked a couple minor things. Please let me know if there's anything else anyone would like updated, otherwise, carry on as normal.

Also, the one thing I don't know how to do is change what is written on a Spoiler tag. If anyone can inform me of how to do this, I'll fix the spoiler tags in the 2nd post to properly reflect what is behind the spoiler.

Huh, I had no idea Pool Nation just released at the end of October. Is it worth picking up? I'll likely pick up Skullgirls, but I won't be sad if I forget.

Man, appreciate the work but it's sad not seeing ReddJoey's name up there. We need a tribute in the OP or something. Never forget!

nice job, and now you get to change it all again tomorrow!
The first spoiler of the second post (prior sales) can be wiped out, since they're from early 2012. There's also a little lingering "XBox Live Achie" text above the sources question.

Thanks, thanks, and thanks.

Did we just stop keeping track of the lists of DotW and sales? Do we have any info from 7/23/2012 onward? For the answer to the "list of old sales" question, I put a link to one of my Google Drive spreadsheets which has a list of sales since 2008.

Since the prior sales list was in the 2nd post, only Reddjoey or a mod could update it. Spylon's site would have everything if looking for a specific item. If you want to put together a chronological list, the edit history of the 2nd and 3rd 2012 topics would have them. Should be able to find the DOTW's easily enough by checking versions of the page made on Tuesdays, though some of the other deals may be harder to find without going through every version.

I didn't think to go through the Edit histories of the other 2 threads, that's a good idea if I ever feel like actually doing that.

I recommend adding the Xbox icon to the thread title. I know I always find this thread by scrolling through the forum list looking for that logo.

Thanks to Tyler for the new thread and all of those that helped keep up the old thread. Sad to see Reddjoey's thread going out but moving forward things look good.

I got a chance to chat with ReddJoey for a second today, I let him know he's welcome to retake possession of the thread if he ever wants to. Hopefully we'll see him again soon.

I don't necessarily consider this my thread (remember it's still wikified), it's just in my name so that the title can be updated regularly and the 2nd and 3rd Posts can be edited if people feel like we should move some information down from the OP. Most of the credit of this thread goes to Cornelius and Bloomy, with nadohawk and dark inchworm also doing a lot of positive things in editing the OP.

That being said, excited to see what's going on sale tomorrow. I'm personally hoping for Pid, despite lackluster reviews.

very nice new thread sir. Many kudos go out to you, reddjoey, Cornelius, and everyone else who has done such a great job keeping this thread up to date.

You didn't capitalize my name! If only you knew how happy that makes me, for real. :p Oh, and thank you.

I'm going to go out on a well-stretched limb and hope/guess that Skullgirls, Crimson Alliance characters, Choplifter, Adventures of Shuggy, and/or Mega Man 9 get a discount within the next month. I figure that's a wide enough variety that I'll hit the mark on at least one. Hopefully. Maybe.
Anyone recommend civilization revolution???
Yes! Wholeheartedly. But not at that price.

It's been on sale for 1,200 pts so that, or lower, would be a good deal (as would picking up the disk for about $10.)

I've been playing Civ Rev since it first released back in Summer 2008 and still play it at least 1 once a week and rank in at Top 20 in Game of the Week. It's well worth $20, although I'm more than ready for a sequel.

Also, Scarygirl is pretty cool.
