"A new report says that the director for Star Wars: Episode VII has been found and it’s none other than J.J. Abrams. The Wrap is reporting the huge news, saying that Abrams has agreed to direct the highly-anticipated film (to say the least) after months of being courted by new Lucasfilm head Kathleen Kennedy. Back in November, Abrams specifically said he was not going to do the film (indicating he had been asked), but as The Wrap puts it, “The lure of the Jedi was too strong.”

More to come..."

So, how does everyone feel about this?

I for one am excited. Although, how can he hope to do both Star Trek AND Star Wars. This makes my brain hurt.

I kind of wish he'd only done Star Wars and not touched Star Trek. It seems more like his style.
Will his endings be as worthless and dumb as Lost, where people wasted also a decade of their lives watching
To be fair, he had very little to do with the show after the pilot episode.

Not to mention the show only went 6 seasons. This just looks like the kind of thing you say because you've seen other people say it on the internet...not because you actually watched the show.

Maybe one should not put their name/reputation on something one do not have any creative insight or work in it.

Maybe we could get a Cloverfield like Star Wars...

I don't understand why they can't just let a franchise end properly and be regulated to history as a "masterpiece" or whatnot

Not that Star Wars was ever that great, but its time to just let it go and come up with new ideas..

Whats next?
Clone Vader, Ghost Vader, Vader X,

I watched it as it aired and it was definitely a colossal waste of time.

Why do they have to make Episode VII? Can't they just start over with something new in the Star Wars universe? They can still use characters from those movies but lets move on to a different storyline.

That said, Count Dookahn!!!
Seriously, mankind, why does "Jar Jar Borg" bring up titties in Google Image search?
Doesn't every image search eventually lead to titties? If not, it should. Hmmm... start-up idea... www.booble.com?

To play Russian Roulette at work, you turn off Safe Search and type in phrases and see what doesn't bring up porn.

"Panda glue" worked for me the last time I tried it, but that was a while ago and I can't currently confirm either way right now.

Also I want in on your startup.

I'll believe it when J.J. himself or his reps confirm it. Like the IGN article stated, Abrams had already been approached for the role and seemed pretty vehement in not wanting it.

Wow - Booble is "the best adult porn search engine and sex search directory online"- and they even use boobs for the "oo" in the logo. Why are all of the great ideas taken?
Episode VII: Attack of the Lens Flares?
Yep...my thoughts exactly. Not to mention dust and fast moving shaky cams of the ships. :(

So I take it someone else will be doing the 3rd (and final)star trek movie?
It'll still be better then the prequels.
I'm not much of a Star Wars fan so I have no emotional investment here, but isn't the proper response to this "what isn't?"

I'd rather have someone with a track record like Abrams then the original rumor awhile back of Zack Snyder making a Star Wars film with constant slow motion, zoom-in and out action scenes. In the very least it'll be a good popcorn flick, so it'd be stupid to hate on this in anyway.
Darth Khan is a cool name, I suppose.
Khanfound it, I'm tired of these name games!

That's the beautiful thing about Star Wars. Lucas didn't just create a story but a universe. Why they keep going back to the same well when there is nearly limitless potential to do new stories in the universe is beyond me. Lucas' ego really held things back in that regard. I'm guessing Disney feels they have to start with an Episode 7, but hopefully they get to the point where they're willing to abandon the Skywalkers and try something new.

It's too bad the Seven Samurais rumor turned out to be false. (Though, I guess that really only denies Zack Snyder's involvement.)

Ding, ding, ding.

OT but Clone Wars is having a phenomenal season this year if anyone isn't already watching. Some really good writing even if they're ripping off a lot of plot points from the original movies heh. Only bad arc so far has been the droids and that fucking frog thing that's worse than jar-jar.

I'm only intrigued by the concept of robot goat legs Darth Maul...

Lol, I'm loving the fact they're finally digging into Black Sun. That and Dengar (bounty hunter) made an appearance last episode.

From the N64 game Shadows of the Empire? Or do I have him confused with someone else...

Dengar is bada$$..

He rescues Boba Fett from the Sarlacc Pit single handedly in the events after RotJ.

The only bounty hunter I remember in the game was IG-88, an assassin droid. Perhaps you're thinking of the main character, Dash Rendar?

Ah, that's it. Dengar is the old man mummy bounty hunter then if I remember right. I Base this all on my vague memories of the toys and games.

Goat legs are gone. . .

The episode that aired on Saturday was really good. The story arc they are doing is well done. The last one with the droids was light hearted, but I really didn't mind it.
