Hi All,

Anyone have any tips for finding good deals on Play Arts Kai figures? I'm looking for sites that have better prices than Amazon or ebay, anyone have any suggestions on alternate sites to look at?

Also, does anyone know of any places to grab the Metal Gear Grey Fox figure for msrp, just wondering?

For reference, I'm guessing you're talking about this MGS figure: http://myfigurecollection.net/item/70909

I checked all the Japanese figure sites I use, but none has that Gray Fox in stock anymore. Well, Nippon-Yasan does have him and in new condition, but they know how rare he is so the price is up to 13,800 yen (~$156): http://www.nippon-yasan.com/lang-en...al-gear-solid-play-arts-kai-cyborg-ninja.html

He was around 5000 yen (~$65, or ~$57 by today's exchange rates) when he came out Feb 2012. It may be very difficult to find him at that price now. In addition to stalking eBay (usually way overpriced, but I have found a few good deals on open boxes), you should also monitor the Japanese secondhand stores listed near the bottom of this post: http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showpost.php?p=9322995&postcount=1 Their prices are usually much better than you can find in US. I have bought a lot of oop figures from Mandarake at prices near original msrp.

Thanks for the tips! Will definitely start checking those sites out.

I wish Play Arts Kai had their own online store, it seems like resellers are pretty much the only way to go ... same with Hot Toys.

I check those three secondhand stores daily (Mandarake, AmiAmi preowned, and Jungle) and have come across some great deals and rare figures. About 1/3 of my collection is from secondhand stores since a lot of great figures came out before I started collecting. Now I make sure to preorder since it's usually cheaper than getting it later... the opposite of buying video games :p

Revengeance Raiden is coming out in February, or March if you buy from US retailer. If you want to buy from Japan, AmiAmi is my favorite store and usually has the best price: http://www.amiami.com/top/detail/detail?gcode=FIG-IPN-5331
If buying in US, either go with Amazon if you have prime shipping:www.amazon.com/Square-Enix-Metal-Gear-Rising/dp/B00A17O6BG/
or Anime-Island for the lowest price: http://www.anime-island.com/product...aiden-action-play-arts-kai-action-figure.html
I haven't used Anime-Island personally, but I hear nothing but good things about them. There's also kirinhobby.com for a US distributor (haven't tried them either, but should be good). They list Gray Fox as "backordered", so maybe you can contact them and ask if they can really get it: http://www.kirinhobby.com/shop/product_info.php?products_id=4370

Basically you have to keep up to date with what's coming out and preorder or buy them within the first few weeks. After that they either increase a bit or sell out and then you see the extra $100 added on. I get all mine through amazon. You just have to be aware.
