Ninja Turtles reboot

DestroVega

CAGiversary!
Searched for a thread, couldn't find one.

So Megan Fox has been cast as April O'Neil.

The only good thing about that is it lowers my expectations from cautious optimism to having absolutely zero interest.

In the end, that's probably a good thing. I probably would have just been incredibly let down.
Oh no, they hired a bad actress. Now it'll never hold up to the Academy Award-winning cast and writing that they had in the original movies.
At least in the original movies they were mutants from the sewers on Earth and not aliens from outer space.

I don't even care about that. It's not like they don't look like aliens anyways.

I'm more unhappy with Megan Fox. Regardless of her being a bad actress this is just bad casting.

I'm still happy we're getting a big budget Turtles movie though.

It's not that she's a bad actress, in fact I'd argue we haven't yet seen her act. (At least I haven't since I've only seen her in Transformers)

It's that it's just a terrible fit. Everything we've heard about this movie so far is just not right.

But...we have no idea what role she will have. It might be April, or it could be a secondary character. Though Grantland joked that she would be one of the Turtles.

I'll see it, along with the majority of other movie viewers, mainly because it will be an action movie that keeps me paying attention to the next explosion. And will make millions and millions of dollars.

No they announced her as April

What really pisses me off is they tested Elisabeth Olsen who would have been a great, inspired choice. Leave it to Michael Bay to do the opposite.
I thought she was replaced in T3 because she said something bad about Bay?
She referred to him as Hitler. Nice to see he's a forgiving guy.
fuck Michael Bay. At this point he IS worse than Uwe Boll.

Oh yeah, I went there.
Have you ever watched a Uwe Boll movie? No one is worse than Uwe Boll. No one.

Wait, how is she even going to look remotely close to being believable as April? Or do we not even care the tiniest bit about the source material anymore? Probably the latter... Thanks, Mr. Bay. :groan:

Exactly. But like I said, this is probably for the best. Rather not care to even see it than have some hope and have that squashed.

I am curious if they will have April as a reporter like in the OG series, a scientist like the comics and 2K3 series, or just a general friend like the new series.
I think we all knew this was doomed the second Michael Bay was attached to it.
From what I have read, the scriptwriters, director (Bay is producing, not directing), and executives are doing more damage than Bay is.

People kinda hate more on Bay than he deserves. He knows what kinds of movies he can make and he's good at what he does. Big budget movies with lots of explosions and action that are entertaining to watch.

Besides, it's not like TMNT is Shakespeare.

Meh, what ever. Could be worse, she could be Venus. However, they did fight the Power Rangers. It could be worse....much much worse.

Actually I've probably seen a majority of them and while they're bad, they don't shit on my childhood like Bay does. Additionally, this was more of a joke considering the two have a 'history' where Boll called Bay out, challenging him to a boxing match. Apparently Boll is a semi-pro boxer, so of course Bay pussed out on that one heh.
Shredder will be played by one of the twilight dudes with his rippling abs and huge biceps. mmm
No, it will be some nameless dude with a big scary black guy voiced via ADR.

I don't know man. Boll could be 100% accurate to whatever the source material for his movie is and Bay could make Transformers into Eskimos and drop the whole robots aspect, and the Boll movie would likely still be worse.
She referred to him as Hitler. Nice to see he's a forgiving guy.
probably knows he is. That is why the forgiveness. Can't hate people for something you are, you just have to make it all funner!

Omg yes tmnt is shakespeare quality stuff nothing will ever be as good as my childhood memories Everything I ever loved about tv as a kid has been destroyed by michael bay he reached into my soul and stole my childhood and replaced it with an explosion :(

Michael Bay is our modern day Paul Verhoeven. He and his films are often misunderstood and you'd be surprised at the depth of Transformers films. Hint:
Autobots are actually the bad guys.

My issue isn't her acting. The issue I has is she just doesn't seem to fit the part. Hell I would rather have the porn star that goes by the name of the character than Megan Fox. From the pictures of her I have seen from different conventions she at least looks more of the part. Casting her was just bad casting for the character. Now I wouldn't care if she was in it as some other character, but not April. I guess I'm also basing all this from the cartoon back in the 90's. The alien deal doesn't bother me as much since I read that it is the ooze that comes from space and not them. Now if that has changed or was wrong then I don't want space turtles and I'm already not liking this movie.

Were people really expecting a great reboot coming from the Michael Bay camp? I had no interest in this and still have no interest in this.

It's not so much that any of us were expecting anything remotely good, it's the fact that it just keeps getting worse and worse.

Samuel L. Jackson as Splinter, anyone? How about Nicholas Cage as Casey Jones? :cold:

Michael Bay isn't as bad as Uwe Bol but IMO he did an "ok" job on Pearl Harbor. People are crying about how "inaccurate" the movie is, but what do you expect? Go watch a documentary if you want to see the full details about the attack. But even then, most documentary's are not even 100% accurate.

I know having Kate in the movie was a big plus for me but Pearl Harbor is still one of my favorite war movies to this day.

Someone stated April being annoying and that's how I remember her when I was about 7-8 years old lol
yeah...this movie...oh boy. As much as I love the Turtles, there is no way myself or my friends are going to sign off on this one.
You'll see it, we all will. Afterwards we will all come here to bitch about and a few of us will say "You talked about how shitty it was, etc etc, so why the hell did you even see it?"

I'll see it just cause I want to. Crap or not.

I will wait for the trailers and footage to be released before deciding whether to see it. Buying it on Blu-ray is a different story.

The new turtles actually more closely resemble the turtles from a 3 issue run by Michael Zulli. I thought it was an interesting take on them, but I know the Bay movie wont be following anything close to it.

Pics of the toys were actually leaked a few weeks ago. ;)
