Signed up for a trial of PS+ a month ago and went into my account right after to select that it NOT auto-renew when the trial is over. Thought everything was taken care of, but I just got notification today that Sony did auto-renew my account. Anybody have experience getting the charge reversed and can offer any advice? They took it out of my Sony wallet so I cant go to my credit card company.

Call and ask it to be reversed. This happened to me and I flatout told them I was positive I had turned off Auto-renew. They credited my account as a "1-time courtesy" and my PS+ was deactivated. I've since renewed for the record, but at the time I didn't have much use for it.

best you can do is call them up and tell them what happened. i got bit by that alien breed fiasco recently so i called them about it and they filed my case and got lucky and got a refund and a bit extra. you may be sol due to their tos butt you never know till you try.

There are two areas where you have to shut it off, one is under Services I believe and I forget where the other is. I never kept a credit card on file, I've always used PSN Cards and they basically can't charge me a renewal unless I leave a balance on the account. I did re-up for another year of Plus.
I think it needs to be turned off in 2 places:

Services > PS+ > Turn off Auto-renewal

Automatic Funding > Off
That'd be them, ty.

What? I don't believe this, and if it's true Sony should be sued.

Are you saying that if I go on my Playstation to the services and disable the auto renew for my PS+ sub, it will still auto renew anyway if I don't also go and disable automatic funding? This doesn't make sense and I imagine Sony could get in a lot of trouble if that were true.

Now, if it were the other way around (you disable auto funding but do not disable the auto renew) I can see getting the charge regardless.

Basically what I'm saying is you (probably) do not have to go to 2 places to stop your PS+, you should only have to go to Services > PS+ > Turn off Auto-renewal

I'd never heard of that either, and I didn't have to do it when I let my brother-in-law use my CC# when he used one of those one-month codes. I did the" do not auto-renew" thing and that was it(never got charged again and he no longer has the + icon by his name). I also only did that when I let my own subscription lapse a year ago.
The only thing I can think of is one cancels auto CC charge, and the other stops PSN Wallet withdrawal. It is stupid, I agree.
It is confusing. I think it's like this:

The Automatic Wallet funding is for when you have a credit card on file and don't have the proper amount for something already in your PSN wallet. If you have that "feature" on, it'll just take whatever extra it needs from your credit card (up to a certain amount). So when you stop that service it simply won't let you check out if you don't have the proper amount in your PSN wallet until you add more.

So you should be able to stop the auto renewal of PS+, and still leave the automatic funding feature on and it should not charge you for PS+ again as long as you have set auto renewal to off.

I think either some people forget to turn off auto renewal of PS+ altogether, or they turn off automatic (wallet) funding instead of automatic (PS+) renewal, in which case you would still be charged for PS+ once your sub expires.

Thanks for the replies. On the phone with them now. Wow about having to turn off automatic renewal at two spots. Thats some BS right there.
