What Happened to the ECA?

I took a break form CAG and console gaming all together for about 2 years. I decided to listen to a CAGcast and they mentioned the ECA. Then I instantly remembered the whole ECA situation. I started the break during that whole situation. What happened in the end? I think I remember them canceling the amazon code and not letting us cancel auto renew.
 
I heard that story on the Cagcast. I was more interested whether the ECA auto renewed me after they dropped the amazon codes. Does anyone remember how much an ECA membership was?

I think it was $20 or so.
