PS3 no longer reads Blu Ray movies

So I started my PS3 this morning and it would not load any of the Blu Ray movies that I tested. The drive would spin the disc several times and then make a noise like it was ejecting the disc but would not eject the disc. The two games that I tried seemed to work fine (I did not try any DVDs).

Anyone have any advice? Has this happened to anyone else?

Your bluray drive is dying. You are probably using the ps3 slim? dvds will probably still work and majority of your ps3 games for now but it will get worse in the long run. bluray movies are printed in double layer discs and when the drive is failing this is the first type that gets harder to read. I had the same problem with mine. You could either try and replace the drive, have someone fix it for you, trade it in or buy a new one. A temp fix would be to tilt the ps3 upward while inserting the bluray movie. Dont think theres no other way to fix the hardware problem without shelling money or letting go.

I bought a SquareTrade warranty so hopefully this will be relatively painless.
