So, I've been a long time Xbox owner and fan. The PS1 was the last non-Xbox console I've had. Because we need another streaming device in my home, I'm trying to convince my GF that a used PS3 would make a perfect addition to our home. If I can make that happen, I must ask this. What are the must have games I should get to experience the PS3? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.
 
This is the most recent thread asking for exclusives so it is a good place to start. Since you skipped the PS2 I would also recommend most of the HD collections like Sly Cooper trilogy (great platformer), God of war Saga, Shadow of the Colossus/ICO collection, etc.
 
I'm a big fan of first/third person shooter games and action-adventure games. I naturally branch out but those are my favorites. Uncharted and GoW would be a great experience I think. I've played a little GoW on an old roommates PS2 and it was fun. Thanks for the link, I'll check it out.
 
Also, multi-player is not a big issue for me at the moment. My backlog is such that I don't have lots of time to fool around with numerous multiplayer setups. When I need a multi-player fix, I usually have 1 game as my go to. Right now that is still Halo 4. But I do really like well done single person campaigns.
 
Uncharted and Infamous.

If you have it in you though please play through Journey. It's only a couple hours long but it's great imo.

Also be excited for The Last Of Us
 
With the many PS3 deals out now, you might as well get a new one. It's probably not a good idea to buy used consoles anyway.
 
I thought Cowboom only sold pre-owned stuff? I suppose at least their products are under warranty. The PS3 I found was a 320gb with MLB13 and NCAA12 for $180 with 1 controller and cables. But of course there is a bit of risk with buying it used from an individual.
 
Keep your eyes peeled, occasionally best buy will sell Dualshock3 + game controller bundles for $40. I picked up the killzone trilogy+controller last time.
 
What do you plan to stream on the PS3? Because my PS3 (day one launch Slim version) is utterly incapable of streaming 1080p video from Youtube without stuttering every few seconds. Netflix streaming also sucks compared to Xbox360.

For exclusive games, I recommend Valkyrie Chronicles, Demon's Souls, and Ni No Kuni.

That's weird. MLB13 literally came out this month. They bought it then decided to sell the whole system?

We would mostly be streaming Netflix and Amazon Instant Video. While we would be streaming both on the PS3 at times, it would also give me something to play when she is streaming stuff on the 360 that I have no interest in.
 
For PS3 - only get Sony exclusive games and for Xbox 360 only get Microsoft exclusive games. As the other games; you can get them for really cheap (bundle sales) off Steam. This is how I roll...

I have just recently (last 3-4 weeks) discovered Steam and rediscovered the enjoyment of PC gaming. While fun, I don't have a great setup for PC gaming (yet) and still really enjoy console gaming.

I on the other hand have absolutely no issues with Netflix streaming on PS3. It's the best Netflix device I own.
