Wow, exaggerate much dude?
You might want to read my post again, dude. But I'm going to re-insert the context that you took out.
I experienced no crashes whatsoever or any of those AI glitches you described during my play through.
The PC version isn't immune to a few universal bugs like the flying glitch, which was fixed with the Bloody Palace DLC, and the 360 version doesn't have as many AI crashes as the PS3 version. Word on the grapevine is that problems on the PS3 version is due to Unreal being less compatible with the PS3. That's why I said don't get it for the PS3 and get it for the PC instead. It's right there in the first two sentences of the second paragraph.
Story is lackluster sure, but it's not like any of the prior games had great stories either. This series has always been about the action first and foremost. This game is no different.
Ninja Theory was hired
because of their ability to tell a compelling story. This was Ninja Theory's AND Capcom's main selling point for the game. If they didn't hype it as being more "mature" and "deeper," this wouldn't have been an issue. Making it grim and dark doesn't make it mature or deep. It isn't even good as a Baby's First Punk/Anti-Corporation game.
Combat was alot of fun IMO and there was enough variety to keep things fresh and entertaining the whole way through. Boss battles are the one area I would say the game was lacking in combat wise.
Escort missions are a huge slog, really?? I recall exactly one escort sequence and it wasnt even a full mission. It was over within a couple minutes literally.
Personally I enjoyed the Platforming. It was a nice change of pace from combat every now and then.
The combat being fun is subjective and like I said, the mechanics of it are fine, but their context is completely out of sync with the game itself when style rankings are based on damage as opposed to combos. Add in poor weapon balancing with increased difficulties, you have less incentive to be stylish as opposed to spamming Coiled Trinity Smash into Overdrive if you want to SSS a mission. The idea behind the rankings is so that you'd RE-play the game and the ranking system insists that you do it efficiently; not stylishly, which leads me to problems with escorting and platforming.
There are 2 escorting sections and I don't even want to count the the long platforming ones. There are at least 6 of them off the top of my head. If you think they're fun and a nice change of pace? Then I'm glad you enjoyed it. For me, going through it for the 20th time because a wave won't spawn in the arena or a crash after a "cutscene" is a pain in the arse when I'm trying to SSS the mission and half of the mission is escorting/platforming. El-Shaddai, this game isn't.
And I can't comment on console versions, but on PC the game looks amazing. Even a modest system can run the game at 60+ frames to boot.
Again, this is why I said the PC version is the one to get. Hell, average fps that I've been seeing is well into the 100's, but tends to run into issues the higher they go.
Not really sure why some people have such a ridiculous agenda against this game. I played DMC 1 and 3 and they were good games, as is this one.
If I had an agenda like the one you're implying, I'd be bitching about white hair and DONTE looking "emo." I couldn't care less if Dante was transgendered rastafarian with a rainbow colored mustache and hot pink lemonade braids if the gameplay was solid, had good enemies to match, and a well-told story even if it was trite and cliche. Revengeance is an over-the-top satire that tells almost the exact same story with tons more gravitas and does it FAR better. Raiden actually grows as a character and Dante just kinda does what he's told. Heck, Lilith is given more character development and motivation than Dante and Vergil combined. In matter of fact, I think she's the most developed character in the game.
I'm glad you enjoyed the game, but pointing out it's flaws doesn't make me a "fanboy" or "anti."
edit: Anywho, if someone is looking for an easy platinum that can be done in about 40 hours, this game is for you.
