Best Buy Upgrade & Save - Now With 100% More Wikification!!

How does it work?
Trade in ANY DVD (except for porn, you weirdos) and get a $5 off coupon towards any Blu-Ray priced $9.99 or above.
Yes, ANY DVD - this includes things you bought at the Dollar Store, individual discs from compilations or TV shows, and ex-rentals from Blockbuster (RIP).
Cases and artwork aren't required, but it definitely increases the acceptance rate if you're bringing in disc four of Sanford & Son's third season.

Wait, that's it? There has to be more to it, right?
Well, not really. It's pretty simple.
Step 1. Trade in DVD's for $5 off coupons.
Step 2. ???
Step 3. Profit!

The usual FAQ/tips/etc.
Coupons are 1:1 - for each DVD traded, one coupon is given.
Coupons don't have to be used at time of trade in.
Coupons do not stack with each other. No combining U&S coupons for $40 off of the Star Wars box set.
Coupons MAY stack with price matches, manufacturer coupons, and current Best Buy promos. YMMV, ya know?
Discounts are taken from the selling price of the Blu-Ray $9.99 or higher. $9.99 becomes $4.99, $12.99 becomes $7.99, and so on. $4.99 Blu-Rays are still $4.99 though.
Coupons are B&M only - must be redeemed in-store.

Since this is a wiki post now, feel free to add in suggested titles (I prefer those $9.99 gems or sale items that become $4.99 after coupon, but to each their own) down below.

For a pretty comprehensive list, go here -> WV Matsui to the rescue! You should all give him a dollar.

Noooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wallet not ready.

Love the deal but I always go a little crazy buying crap during the sale.

Actually, the coupon is good for the entire sale period, but you need your receipt. It cannot be used online. Must be on a Blu-ray $9.99 and up. The DVD must have a cover art and cannot be burned.

Also, the various processes and the like are subject to heavy YMMV from store to store.

Best strategy is to bring in 5 DVDs, grab 5 Blu-rays, then head to customer service.

Ready!

OP if you could make the first post a wiki when we get close so we can add all the $5 titles, rules and upcoming ads that would be great :)
Yup just hand in the DVD and get the coupon but coupon only good for that day.
Not at my stores.

Will do - I'm posting from the mobile site, but I'll edit the first post when I get to a computer.

Here is how it's supposed to go down (emphasis on "supposed"):

1) Customer brings in up to 5 non-burned DVDs with cover art. ("Nobody wants these things on eBay and FYE will only give me 25 cents! Help!")
2) Best Buy rep checks to see if DVDs qualify. ("Has a cover? Check. There a non-purple disc in there? Check. Huzzah!")
3) BB rep opens Upgrade & Save program and scans in up to 5 coupons. ("Scanny scan scanman!")
4) Receipt prints out and is stapled to coupons before given to customer. ("You got a receipt! It comes with 5 coupons! Lucky!")
5) Customer picks out Blu-ray movies $9.99 or higher. ("X-Men trilogy on sale!? Sign me up, bub!")
5a) A movie the customer wanted is out of stock. ("No Last Stand!? Oh noes! O_O How can this be!?")
6) Customer brings movies up to cashier and hands over coupons+receipt. ("This proves I didn't distract the rep with my amazing good looks and swiped a bunch sitting on the desk.")
7) Cashier scans one coupon per Blu-ray. ("Activate coupon POWA!!")
7a) Customer keeps any unused coupons. ("I wanted to spend money....")
8) Register takes $5 each qualifying item and cashier pays total. ("$5 for the awesome power of the High-Def Experience? Amazing! :D")
9) Customer goes to another Best Buy to grab missing movie. ("You are mine, you sexy Wolvie!")
10) Customer gives cashier remaining coupon and receipt. ("See? I am an honest cheapskate!")
11) Customer pays and does Kirby Dance. (" Oh yea. Still got it.")

I have DVD's ready to go, but will they have Blu Rays ready to buy?

Hoping they have a sale on the Dark Knight Rises steelbook. I can't think of anything else I want.
I'm sorry to ask, and i'm sure it has before. Does the $5 Of and Amazon Price Matching work together?
It is a YMMV situation. More then likely they will make you choose. The PM or use the coupon. Unless you get a cashier that doesn't care.

I can't wait for this, just will need to go through my dvds now and find ones I wont be watching anymore, also when this sale starts, it will be just in time for me to get a 50 dollar visa card rebate back from my Norton purchase on newegg.com

YMMV, but I was able to at mine.

I hope the original star wars trilogy gets a sale. I need to watch those so my friends are no longer embarrassed of me.
Dollar store. Doesn't matter which one.
Yeah for awhile I wasnt close to any, and I finally checked 1 and they didnt have it. Im in a city now so I could have better luck.
Man I wish I could find cheap DVDs :(
Check rummage sales, thrift and dollar stores. Church rummage sales are especially good hunting. I have been picking up anything I find for .50 or less and have a good amount to trade in with little effort invested.
Love this promo. Hopefully they actually have some deals this time so I can buy something.
This..............

I've finally started pulling old DVDs out in anticipation of the next round of Upgrade & Save! Hopefully there are some good deals!

I've been eyeballing the 5 movie Prophecy Collection. I noticed today that they slapped a yellow sticker on it dropping it down to $10. Of course at $5 after coupon, I'm probably still overpaying. ;)

I used (2) upgrade and save coupon, price matched amazon.com, a manufacturer coupon, and reward zone certificates all on 2 Blu-ray movies during the last upgrade and save event.

I have a bunch of DVDs available. Now that I'm actively buying Disney and other kids blu-rays, I'll have to take advantage of this.

I go to a lot of local auctions where they'll sell a flat of 20 crappy DVDs with cases for $5-10.

Son of a bitch. I still have ~100 unopened Blurays, most of which are from previous few U&S and Black Friday. And, like always, I have a ton of junk DVDs to get rid of too.

I've got another 4 or 5 DVDs ready to ditch depending on Blu Ray sales this time.

Hopefully some decent ones as after those I'll pretty much have ditched everything on DVD that I want to upgrade or get rid of and will be done with these promos.

I was going through my DVDs to find ones to convert through Flixster's disc to digital (you get 5 free per account, and you can have more than one account, and then merge them via ultraviolet), and I noticed many of them were scratched or even worse some of the ones from the late 90s the inner hole is starting to crack(My poor Totoro) so I will have more than I thought to trade in.

Last time I think I traded in 45 movies. Good thing I have multiple reward zone accounts doing daily quizes. Dont think I'll be getting as many blus this time.

Many store write up any employee who takes a bogus coupon, so they can become real asses about accepting any.

Wow not many new releases coming out during that time. im hoping for some good 9.99 deals and maybe some tv series deals.

I am hoping to finish my "Avengers" set. I hope to get Captain America, Thor, and the two Hulk movies for $5 each...Also would love to get Wreck it Ralph for $10.
Wasn't the Norton one a sequel to it and referenced some events from it?

Been a while since I watched either.
The beginning recapped how Banner became the Hulk, but it was made in a way that if you wanted to include the Ang Lee film you could. But Marvel doesn't consider it a part of the MCU.
