Goddamn that last OTT lasted way too long.
I agree. I mean, valentine's day when we're supposed to be drinking and eating cadbury eggs?

Off to drive the 2013 Nissan Versa today. Shame the won't tell me what the offical Costco members only price is over the phone. I have to drive out there and pretend like I'm interested in order to find out.

Bank gave us a shitty 5% interest rate on the car loans. I don't really want to finance through the dealers, but they're offering 0.9-1%. (Which probably is only reserved for the top 1% of credit scores, and out of my league....)
Skyfall was terrible. Didn't even feel like a James Bond movie.
Bold? Provocateur? Iconoclast?

We've tried the Costco and USAA buying service quotes, our experience was 6-10% off sticker- not great,; I've negotiated better prices for every car buy I've ever done alone FWIW. YMMV.

I kind of agree with DT. I thought the movie was a big letdown and I have yet to understand why people think it is one of the best Bond movies ever.

I've only watched two Bond movies in my life: Casino Royale and Skyfall.

As an aside, Reese's Eggs are the best.

The more I hear about the new Xbox the less I want it. If I end up buying a next gen console, I think I am going to get that quadruple. They actually seem to have their shit together. I do wish they would make a decent controller and ditch the dual shock design, but I don't see them ever ditching it.

I only have seen three Bond movies - Casino Royale, QoS, and Skyfall. I liked Casino Royale and QoS because it was like Bourne Identity. I didn't like Skyfall because it was corny how I imagine all pre-Casino Royale Bond movies probably are.

As long as you skip the Moore era you won't encounter too much corn. Almost all the Connery movies are excellent.

You only live twice is pure corn. In fact, it hit me a few years ago that it's a parody.

What's corny about Sean Connery as a Japanese fisherman?

I guess I should clarify and say the first four Connery Bond movies are excellent.
I actually enjoyed Skyfall more than any of the other recent Bond movies. Was way better than Quantum of Solace.
Co-sign.................Different strokes for different folks.

Morning, OTT.

Thunderball was best. Roger Moore bond had great bad guys and Bond Girls. I think the campiness is what made it.
No work today :whee:

Maybe I'll waste some time seeing GI Joe Retaliation
I liked it alot more than the first.

I hate the build-up of anticipatory anxiety before going to work, when you're just waiting around an hour two before it starts trying to kill time.

I grew up on the Moore (and Timothy Dalton) movies. They had a light dose of corn, but that's part of Bond's charm.
I started reading the Ian Fleming (and later the John Gardner) books way back in 5th grade. There really isn't anything that salacious in them. Not by today's standards.

I have fond memories of when they'd play the Bond movies on Sunday night. Our whole family would stay up to watch them.

I thought Casino Royale was alright, but nothing great. I didn't see the next two. I mean to see the latest, though, because everybody raves about it.

Sharks in pools, crazy gadgets and women are what make the bond movies. The main gadget in skyfall is a micro radio. fuck outta here with that shit. "What did you expect? An exploading pen?" Bet you the writers were high fiving themselves after that one.

Ah. Grace Jones.
She looks like she'd snap your head off with her thighs and then drink your blood. Hell of a way to go. But worth it.

(cross post from the New Car Buying thread. looking for any suggestions/advice)
I have several issues with the whole process.

So frustrating.

1. The internet price on the dealer's web page never matches what the price in the show room is. (You
get there and they quote you the MSRP and then start taking rebates off of that).

2. Going to the Nissan page I can "build" a basic model S+ 2013 Nissan Versa for $14,5 (including delivery charge). Does that car exist anywhere? No, all the ones at the dealers have the extras like lighted trim and what not already included.

3. Our credit union is only offering us a 5% (will match 2.5%) interest rate for the loan. The dealers might give us a 0.9 or 1.x% rate, but who knows if we qualify and what hidden strings are attached.

Morning. (crickets)

Have we ever gone 24 hours without a post before? This just reinforces my anti-social tendencies.

Personally I don't mind the Dual Shock design but I wish they would have one model that swaps the D-Pad and Left Thumbstick and one that doesn't. I like the D-Pad placement for 2D games over the 360 but for 3D games, I prefer the 360 controller.

I'm sure that must be some kind of record for the OTT.

Hello, Dead OTT!

Friend just contacted me if I was going to register for classes next semester tomorrow night and totally forgot all about registration. I was panicking because I thought I had to send in a lot of shit and paperwork and was afraid I wasn't going to get classes I wanted. Found out I just had to email my college adviser of my continuation in the the education program. Had me worked up for nothing.
We've all moved to Twitter...And by all I mean no one really.
Nobody reads my twitter either. Not even the Spambots.

Spambots love my twitter for some reason. I don't really tweet anything worthwhile, so they must be dull spambots.

Off to do car shopping. Wife is only interested in cars Consumer Reports recommends. I just want the cheapest, best MPG car. No extras. This should be fun.

I finished The Shield last night. That finale was so damn great. The whole series overall was great, even if I was spoiled on two major plot points. That's just the price I pay for waiting to watch a show after it's already aired.

Vic Mackey's wife may be the most annoying female character in TV history, even surpassing Tara from Sons of Anarchy. I can't decide if I dislike the actress or if it's just the way they wrote for her. I get it. She's Shawn Ryan's wife, so he had to give her a part, but holy shit. At times, I found myself hoping the Armenians actually would get to her and put a bullet in her head.

I bought the DLC for Assassin's Creed II the other day. I don't think it was worth it. The first one was fun but over pretty quick, and the second doesn't seem much fun so far. I should've kept my $11, but the DLC was the only way to get the preorder secret locations, which you need to get 100% completion.

I was looking at the AC: Brotherhood CE on Amazon last week, but the cheapest was $70. When I checked on there last night, FYE had put some up for $50. After using some leftover credit, I got it for around $40. I may start that next if I don't start Arkham Asylum first.

I remember reading when the finale was coming about that they were going in a direction that was the complete opposite of The Sopranos. Everything down to the suit that Vic wears at the end is absolutely perfect.

Yeah, I read an interview last night with Ryan that I guess was conducted right after the finale aired. He mentioned not wanting to be like The Sopranos. One of the questions asked him where he saw some of the characters awhile after the events of the finale. The one that stood out to me was the idea that Ronnie would've joined up with the white supremacists to stay alive in prison.
