Haven't seen this posted, so I thought I should share. This is my first time posting a deal here, and I'm doing it from my mobile phone, so take it easy on me.

"Buy a version of the Star Trek game along with the Blu-ray movie, and save $15."

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?id=pcmcat300100050006&type=category

Since the blu-ray is $14.99, this essentially makes it free with purchase of the game. I can vouch that this offer is good in-store as well, and automatically packages together at the register.

I'm only a little over an hour into the game, but I'm really enjoying it so far... Which is surprising, since I'm not particularly fond of Star Trek, and I haven't seen the movie yet.

Its gonna be 10 next week apparently and 5 after upgrade and save. Not too bad if you were grabbing it anyways and didnt have a DVD to trade in.

the game is mediocre, if you want to see some actual gameplay footage. It is already available on youtube

It's not a bad game. If you really like Trek you will enjoy it. It uses the actors and wroters from the movies, and they did a great job. gameplay is fluid and smooth. its nothing groundbreaking, just imagine Trek Themed a co op shooter like Gear of War....but less clunky than gears. Gears always seemed very slow and clunky to me.

Have you played it?

It's easy to write off licensed games as crap, but thankfully Star Trek is NOT the next Aliens Colonial Marines or Walking Dead Survivor Instinct. It's high on production values, graphics are good, and it's paced well. Gameplay is sort of Gears of War meets Uncharted, with a dash of Dead Space. I'm having a blast with it, and I'm not even a Star Trek fan.

Yeah, ok, so you played it, but did you watch the YouTube videos??

I kid, I kid. This is kind of a cool incentive in theory, but I feel like the folks who are going to buy this game would likely have a copy of the movie already.

It's just really sad that he would form an opinion of the game by playing it instead of just watching youtube videos. Ridiculous.

Yeah I am going to wait for a pricedrop...

I read three peoples reactions to it... one called it terrible and three loved it of which one was not a star trek fan... they often compared it to mass effect and gears of war with some arkham asylum thrown in there. Graphics were called good and co op was called "one of the best in years" and the plot was applauded as "movie like"

Negatives were that the cover system was a bit dry and glitchy and the AI was called terrible or bad in more than one review. But the reason that screamed "price drop" to me was that even the best reviews said the game had little replay value. So I will wait for a real price drop when that is added into the fact that I have a decent sized backlog

I get my Star Trek game today via GameFly. If I like it maybe Ill jump on this. Im not a Star Trek fan by far but that movie was good.

Game is mediocre. It's not great, but it's not horrible. I rented it from Redbox. I did get bored with it pretty fast though. Graphics aren't that good, gameplay has some awkward moments with jumping, and cover system but the gunning, flow of combat is decent. I'd rent it first, but that's just my opinion.

Hehe, but you have people like me who did preorder the 3disc blu (love the movie) but after a move, I can't find it anywhere so I am very tempted by this offer. (yeah, not the 3disc version but I will live. I am sure it is just in some box I overlooked).

Just ordered online for in-store pick up.
thanks OP. I've been itching to rewatch the movie and was intrigued by the game (not enough to pull the trigger separately) but this is just enough to push me over the fence.
Is the game as good as say X-Men Origins: Wolverine?
They are so different from each other, that's a difficult comparison to make. I would say Star Trek has more in common with The Transformers Cybertron games in terms of gameplay and overall quality for a licensed game.
What is the timeline for this game? I don't want any spoilers for the movie.
I don't know if you've been following Trek news, but AFAIK nobody knows jack shit about the movie outside of the fact that it's a sequel to the older one, and the title. I can't recall the last time security on a movie was locked down this tight, but there's been virtually no leakage outside of a crappy cell phone pic here or there. Trailers have just started coming out, but they don't give much away either. Do we even know who the bad guys in this film are yet?

Point is I think I've read that the game just ties in loosely with the movie, but it could be a word for word reenactment of the 2nd film and nobody would know it right now.
Anyone have this feeling this game will be $10 on gamefly by the end of the year?
A movie tie in game dropping in price? Nonsense. If anything the MSRP is just going to go up.
I hope it sells well, just because good Trek games are so freaking rare these days
Saying they are rare would imply that they exist, and I can't think of a single one. Star Trek Online and some crappy DAC game are the only ones I think you can still get. And god knows I wanted to like STO, but it's way too buggy/glitchy and just plain dull for me. And I'm insulted that they are selling $30 ships in the cash shop, I get that the game went F2P, but $30......... for a ship......... lol.

I remember they show the trailer when I saw Hobbit in theater and I was like, damn that's cool. Don't remember specific but my friends and I are totally excited since the 1st one was really good.
Did anybody else have any offers for buying this game besides this one? I did really see any.
$54.99 to download on PSN.

I bought it and, through 20-30 mins of play, have found it to be a very poor man's Uncharted. I love Abrams' reboot and it's nice that it has Giacchino's excellent score and the real actors for voicework, but the gameplay is stiff and sluggish. Is it an abomination? No, but if you want a 3rd person cover shooter (and make no mistake that's EXACTLY what this is) there are many better option out there.

Annoying for achievement/trophy hunters: collectibles can only be found and acquired while using the tricorder mode (a scanner like Batvision in Arkham that slows movement and prevents you from using weapons) - some collectibles are story background audios like BioShock.

Lead pipe lock. I rented it from Red Box yesterday. It's decent enough but nothing great. As previously mentioned the voice work is authentic and is actually pretty funny (from Kirk anyway) but the gameplay is pretty damn boring overall.

My personal opinion is to not spend more than $20 on the game.

almost bought it at gamestop, but since i wanted the blu ray so i could watch it before the sequel comes out, this worked out well. and i had a $5 best buy coupon. good stuff

From what I've seen it's not terrible, at least not compared to some licensed games. Better than Aliens: CM, but it definitely feels a bit rushed, and unpolished as a result. I'm sure that's why they didn't send out any advance review copies -- didn't want the game to get slammed before enough Trek fans bought it at full price.

The reviews I found for the game say that it's horrible. Starting to get tired of these companies thinking they can hide the truth about their crappy games. Whatever's done in the dark will eventually come into the light.

This game is terrible. Period.

Buggy is an understatement. My top three bugs thus far:
1) Game crashed my console during a timed mission. Sraight up reset.
2) Following a lab mission my game did not check off my bonus objective and, despite the area being entirely clear, did not let me proceed. I switched to straight up online mode because I don't feel like replaying the entire level.
3) Attempting an optional objective, my AI partner wouldn't follow me... and when he tried to get to the next area he kept falling from the roof and dying.

The game is full of gamebreaking bugs, though. In one of the first missions, there was an invisible barrier that blocked the doorway for both of us. I managed to get through... but then the AI partner could not (and was unable to finish it without a second controller). Not to mention the fact that the stealth is absolute garbage. The hacking (line, not matching) is pretty unresponsive. Coming out of certain tasks the controls go absolutely haywire and the character will randomly run around (even without touching the controller).

Broken. Broken. Broken.

it is basically another alien: colonial marines, saw review on youtube full of glitches, incompetent AI, Coop broken/ bugs.

Hmm, I have the PC version and have only seen one bug the last three days. I have been exploring around too, after finishing off the enemies.

I don't think this game deserves any awards, but the story and voice acting is very well done. It is getting jarring how much better they are than the rest of the game.

Now that I have played more, it does need more diversity in gameplay.
