Definitely going to pick up M&M: Clash of Heroes. IGN said it was better than the DS version, though they recommend playing on iPad as it gets a little cramped on iPhone. Cheapest it's ever been.

I've been holding off on Clash of Heroes since the launch, there were a bunch of complaints about technical issues. They've done several updates since then, not sure about the current state of the game.

Oh, man. I got McPixel (mentioned above, link here) for a buck from the Steam Summer Sale. It's been a ton of fun. Picture a point-and-click Wario Ware game. However, you actually want to fail all the different ways in order to get a gold on each level.
Works great with a mouse on a monitor, but I assume it's just as intuitive with a touch screen.

I also love McPixel. But it is pretty unabashedly shallow and stupid, so don't go expecting anything substantial - it's juvenile nonsense.

Is that with or without fart/poop jokes?

Not too many fart/poop jokes, but several of the "solutions" involve farting. It's actually a pretty funny game.

got this earlier today ive been loving it, makes me wish id gotten the joe dangers for consoles
Not sure if this is still on sale (Joe Danger) but I've played a little and it's really good. Controls work great. The game didn't impress me on PS3 much, but it's one of the most polished and full-featured games I've played on iOS. 99 cents was a great deal. Buy it.

Since I'm talking about highly rated games, i picked up Badlands during the free sale and hated it. I'm not sure what the purpose of the game is or how it got such great reviews. Just my opinion.
I almost gave up on Badlands. If I hadn't paused it and seen a hint on how to control the little bastard, I would have deleted it. I was *that* close. Turns out I was swiping when I didn't need to. I get what they were trying to do, but their desire for a clean, un-tutorialed interface has probably cost them players who are justifiably lost.
You may want to try it again. It's a very good game, with occasional trial-and-error gameplay, that is overall really quite inventive and polished. Once you know what's going on and how to control it, the very minor irritations are quite forgivable because there's a ton of things to recommend it.

I thought the controls for badlands were pretty intuitive. That said I agree that it's a wonderful game.

It took 3 comments about this for me to realize you guys were talking about Badlands, not Borderlands. Because hoo-wee, was Borderlands on iOS a stinky deuce!
Have Badlands, but haven't played it. After beating Scurvy Scallywags I'm back to Nimble Quest.

Does Scurvy Scallywags emerge from its slump? I really got into it, then it was just more of the same, endlessly, being constantly cash poor from buying the necessary upgrades to keep pace with the monsters and unable to buy any new ships. I really liked it, then it became a slog and I stopped playing.

I had a lot of fun with scallywags, the gameplay doesn't change much as you progress other than having better skills. I died a few times before I was able to get all the songs but after a while you develop a strategy and it becomes a lot easier

VLC is finally available for iOS again with a whole host of features like streaming and Dropbox support. It is free so grab it now in case it gets pulled again.

Well, that was weird, first time I hit that link, it said "item not available in the U.S. store". All good now though.

Though I played to completion (and level 35 or so), I gotta say it doesn't change much. I pretty much kept my strategy; I just got better at navigating the board.Does Scurvy Scallywags emerge from its slump? I don't know if it was a bug, but there were some islands where I was super overpowered. Sometimes it was the same island, just switching from iPhone to iPad. I honestly liked the challenge, though - having to dodge enemies as I built up my attack.

Also, someone said Frozen Synapse is on sale for $2.99. Having played the PC version I can safely say it is a very fun game. I'm not sure how well the controls translate to the touch screen but from what I gather they don't seem too bad.

Three pinball games from OOO-Gameprom have gone free for now:
• The Deep Pinball (iPad)
These are all on sale right now and normally go for 99¢ each.
Haven't played them yet so I can't say how they compare to Zen Studios' tables. But I can tell you its a bit annoying for these to be individual apps for each table instead of being contained within one app.

Honestly, they're pretty weak compared to Zen Studios and Pinball Arcade. Now that those are out on iOS, I wouldn't even bother with these.
