It's a bit pricey for what you get, but the
official cradle is worth the money. I use this to set my Vita on my nightstand so I can easily charge it when I'm not playing or when I want to watch Netflix before bed. Since the charging cable otherwise has to plug into the bottom of the system, this is a useful way to be able to enjoy the Vita while it's recharging. (The
Nyko Speaker stand is also supposed to be a nice alternative)
The
official portable charger is one of the best I've ever owned. It's quick to charge, it's small and easy to carry, and it can recharge my Vita OR my smartphone when I'm traveling. My only complaint is that it has to use the same proprietary cable that the Vita uses in order to be charged, and it doesn't come with an extra one. (It's only $8
for an extra cable, though.)
I have the crystal case. I got it on clearance at Target, but it would have been worth the full price. It can hold the Vita, 8 games and 2 memory cards.
I use a
$30 Bluetooth wraparound Headset I bought for working out to play my Vita in bed while my wife's sleeping. I much prefer it to the earbud experience so I don't have cables coming out of my Vita (since some games require you to move the system around and the cables can get in the way).
I highly recommend shelling out the money for a
32GB memory card. Lack of memory makes the Vita a lot less fun than if you have 15-20 games loaded at a time. I've got a nice mix of fighting games, RPGs, indie titles and PS+ games on there.
Speaking of PS+, I'd recommend getting a subscription to that before you buy any card-based games. Aside from providing you with a substantial "Instant Game Collection", it offers significant discounts on software. Some of the best games for the system have been hugely discounted in the last few months, allowing me to pick them up with the points I've earned from my Playstation Credit Card. (And that, too, is a must-have because it nets you a free year of PS+ and an additional $50 of PSN credit. I use it to pay my bills and then just pay off the balance every month and collect my points to get additional PSN credit.)
In terms of games, I recommend the following in no particular order.
