Your "must have" Vita games/accessories?

I know E3 is right around the corner, relatively speaking, but I caved in and scored myself a Grade 5 white Vita from Cowboom. I could have held out for a flash sale or lower price, but my job is transferring me in a few weeks and I wanted the console to use while away from home.

Anyway.

I've got plenty of the PS1 classics I grew up loving already on my PS3: FF6-9, Parasite Eve, RE2, etc. And I'll snag some PSP goodies like Lunar, Ys Seven, Legend of Heroes.

What else am I missing? I know the software will eventually come around for the console so I'm not too worried about it. But aside from P4G, what should I be looking into?

And as far as cases/screen protectors, any recommendations?

First thing first: you probably already know it, since you're talking about transferring PS1 games, but get a memory card. I have no idea how big old games get, although 8GB feels like plenty of size if you play one or two games at a time and don't keep them around after you're done with them.

The Pull N Go Folio is quite nice - both the folio and the carrying case are sturdy enough to handle travel, and the folio offers plenty of space for... stuff.

If you like having some kind of shell on your system, one of these does the trick. It's cheap and doesn't increase the system's size much, unlike trigger grips.

I went with generic screen protectors on both the front and the back. You absolutely want one for the back if you like your stuff being in pristine shape - that thing is a hairline scratch magnet.

As for games, if you have one lying around, a PS+ trial or sub lets you play Gravity Rush, which is definitely worthwhile. If you like fighters, there's plenty of good ones with good ports (UMvC3, BBCS:EX, DoA5+, MK9). Other titles available physically that might be worth your while include Lumines: Electronic Symphony, Rayman Origins, and Virtua Tennis 4. If you want to go digital, Sound Shapes, Thomas Was Alone, and Guacamelee are all cross-buy and seem to be well-received.

It's a bit pricey for what you get, but the official cradle is worth the money. I use this to set my Vita on my nightstand so I can easily charge it when I'm not playing or when I want to watch Netflix before bed. Since the charging cable otherwise has to plug into the bottom of the system, this is a useful way to be able to enjoy the Vita while it's recharging. (The Nyko Speaker stand is also supposed to be a nice alternative)

The official portable charger is one of the best I've ever owned. It's quick to charge, it's small and easy to carry, and it can recharge my Vita OR my smartphone when I'm traveling. My only complaint is that it has to use the same proprietary cable that the Vita uses in order to be charged, and it doesn't come with an extra one. (It's only $8 for an extra cable, though.)

I have the crystal case. I got it on clearance at Target, but it would have been worth the full price. It can hold the Vita, 8 games and 2 memory cards.

I use a $30 Bluetooth wraparound Headset I bought for working out to play my Vita in bed while my wife's sleeping. I much prefer it to the earbud experience so I don't have cables coming out of my Vita (since some games require you to move the system around and the cables can get in the way).

I highly recommend shelling out the money for a 32GB memory card. Lack of memory makes the Vita a lot less fun than if you have 15-20 games loaded at a time. I've got a nice mix of fighting games, RPGs, indie titles and PS+ games on there.

Speaking of PS+, I'd recommend getting a subscription to that before you buy any card-based games. Aside from providing you with a substantial "Instant Game Collection", it offers significant discounts on software. Some of the best games for the system have been hugely discounted in the last few months, allowing me to pick them up with the points I've earned from my Playstation Credit Card. (And that, too, is a must-have because it nets you a free year of PS+ and an additional $50 of PSN credit. I use it to pay my bills and then just pay off the balance every month and collect my points to get additional PSN credit.)

In terms of games, I recommend the following in no particular order.

Thanks for the help, folks. Totally blanked on the memory card. Like the price on that 16 gig BB card, but I don't know if Walmart or Frys will pricematch items that are oos in my area.

[quote name='RedvsBlue']The Hori Vita screen protector is fantastic.

As is the Hori Vita Facecover which allows you to just carry the system in your pocket without having to worry about the analog sticks getting caught on anything (the price on Amazon seems to have spiked later for it, though)

Dig that Hori screen protector. Does it come with something for the rear touchpad?

IMO all you need for games are Persona 4 and PS+. Just about every major Vita game has been making it's way on to the service, and it's really a great bargain when you consider the current price of the Vita games. Can't comment on memory cards, but I would wait until E3, since a price drop seems inevitable.

PS+ is definitely the way to go. Some of the best games for Vita are in the instant game collection. (Gravity Rush, Uncharted, and Wipeout)
I would personally recommend the Metal Gear HD collection and Little Big Planet. I am a sucker for LEGO games, too, but not everyone is into that sort of thing.

For accessories, I could not do without some sort of grip to make long term play easier.

No it unfortunately doesn't. I think the only one that does come with a rear screen protector is the zagg total protection screen protector which basically covers the entire unit.
