Can the store exclusive Skylander figures be used together with the regular figures? Say, the Scarlet Ninjini as player 1 and regular Ninjini as player 2...
I've done it with Light Core/Non Light Core and Series 1 and 2 without any issues. Don't think it would be any issue.

I know you are probably joking, but your comment shows seriously poor taste and is genuinely offensive. I'm shocked that anyone would post such a comment. I hope your lil' one grows up to respect his/her father when he/she realizes that you would post such a creepy and disrespectful message about their mother and that you would even consider joking (or not) about such things. Here we all are, posting messages about a child’s game, and you throw in a horrendously stupid comment like this. I hope I'm not alone in my feelings regarding this or otherwise, this is truly a sick and sad world we live in.
I truly hope that your lil' one gets his/her Ninjini character, but does so by no means of your aid or support. You don't deserve the satisfaction of that gift.
for one i was joking, two i do have really poor taste, and three im a single father that stayed to raise his two kids while their mother ran away to smoke crack and shoot dope, so excuse me if id be willing to let someone give my crack head soon to be ex wife a good rodgering for something for one of my babies. so how about u get off ur high horse, grow a sense of humor, and maybe if u like i could give u the address of the street corner my wife now works so u can maybe get a lil,,,,,way to uptight bro

Also there is suppose to be a "Scarlet" Ninjini figure that is to be released that week. I do not know when exactly, but it is pictured in the ad. Its just a recolor of Ninjini.
There were other sales, i forget what they were, but I will update if I find out the rest.
EDIT: The other sale is Buy 1 Get 1 40% off all Wii U, Wii, DS, and 3DS games.

Quick but probably stupid question: do the Skylanders figures work cross-system (ie, Wii starter set on PS3)?

Yes. The figures works across systems. You can even take your upgraded Skylander to another system and it will carry over everything (levels, money, etc.). All that information is saved in the figure itself. You mention the starter set, though. I'm not sure if you're talking about just the figures with the starter set or what. The figures will, but I'm not sure about the portals. There seems to be a lot of conflicting information on that. And, of course, you'll need different games.

Really? Holy crap, I've been playing Skylander for so long, I didn't know this! Thanks for the info. I probably going to get the 3DS portal and game, it's easier to grind to max level (I don't think you need to, but it's cool).

The Wii and PS3 portals are compatible w/ each other and the PC. The 360 portal works by itself or a PC. The 3DS portal works by itself or a PC.
Figures are totally cross compatible between systems. All Skylanders figures work on both games, Skylanders Giant figures only work w/ the Giants games, unless they're marked as "Level 2", which means they're upgraded versions of Skylanders characters. Skylanders characters can go up to level 15 in Giants, but will still appear as only level 10 in the original game.
Keep in mind that the 3DS games are totally seperate. Skylanders plays like the old Spyro games, and Giants plays like a toned down middle ground between Spyro and Skylanders for the main consoles. The characters ONLY gain XP and levels, they do NOT gain money. Their new abilities are coldly locked into what level they are; nothing is purchased. The system stores two characters at a time (no portal needed), so the next time the character is put on the portal, the amount of XP they had earned is added to their figure's XP. (So if you were playing them on the console in the meantime, it just adds to that amount, it doesn't overwrite the progress.)
