(SOLD OUT) Star Trek: Original Motion Picture Collection on Blu-ray, $10 @ Target.com

It probably sold out 10 minutes after discovery. Assuming Target doesn't simply say "Sorry, it was an error. Here's a refund."
Looks like an image error since it has the same DCPI of the first movie blu.
It's not an image error, because the online item # on that page is different. Also, the description and product info is for the 6 movie set. Finally, the list price discount indicates the correct list price and discount %. They just fucked up and set the price on this set to the same price as the individual blus currently on sale at $10.00 each. Note they have another listing for the 6 movie set that is $38.xx. Either way, using the online mobile inventory tracker, it indicates that every store near me has it in stock, so I will be making the attempt to get it...

Too bad it says "sold online only," but good luck.
My closest Best Buy was out of it, but I was able to PM at Wal-Mart.
Damn, I tried best buy and 2 targets and came up empty. I forgot about Walmart. I've never PMed there before. I'll try tomorrow if the price is still $10.00 on target.com.

I typed the DPCI into the Target price scanner and it showed up as $10.00 in store as well (if there was any doubt).

Some best buy employees looked up the sku for me and supposedly 1 store might have 1 copy (this is the same store that notoriously has incorrect inventory and the same store that has a
fucking cunt
of a manager). The other 5 Best Buys I frequent showed zero stock.

Walmart sounds a lot better. Should I take the item to customer service or will a normal Walmart cash register employee be able to do a pricematch to Target.com?

You can do a price match at any cash register, but just to let you know that with a $40 dollar price difference they might have to call a manager to come and turn the key on the register to let it go through. They had to do this for me, and the manager that came back said, "Good Deal" and let it go.

Thanks. I appreciate the help. I'll keep my fingers crossed and hope I run into a manager who is a sci fi nerd like me.
To get the Walmart PM what do I need to take with me? A printout of the item on the Target website showing it for $10?
That might work, I never tried it, I used my phone and showed the Target price on their website.

walmarts policy on PM is to not accept online competitor prices especially if its on your phone. my 3 local wal-marts have been cracking down on this. but good luck to you none the less.

the website showed my best buy OOS on them, but i called and they had 2 and set them aside. when i picked the up i PM'd then. no issues pming, was able to do so at the register. Friend and I now have the set!

Mixed results on my PM today here. Went to Target looked for the set, didn't see it proceeded to 4 different price checkers before I could find a working one to type in the DCPI (numpads mutilated). Found a location, went to location, did not see it. Asked electronics guy - searched for them via name and found 2 in back. Brought me one and we went up to CS to PM. They tried to tell me that since the DCPI's did not match - even though B&M and .com are different companies and they could not tell me what was different - but would not match it. Half-hour and 4 employees later, I left empty handed very frustrated that their final answer was that they could not match it because it was an unreasonable price difference.

Went over to Best Buy across the street and left with my $10.xx Collection in less than 5 mins.

My best buy had one.. Lady was super confused because the cover is difrent.. Then i brought up the best buy website and i was like, look its the same picture.. Then she was like, ok, ill do it. Then she looked at the website and said she couldn't do it cuz it was sold out :/

dcpi matches Star trek the motion picture... tried getting this pm'd at bby, shot down but would have gotten ten dollars off of sale price...

Not my local Target. They make me go to the customer service desk where the line is 20 minutes long to do a price match. :wall:

They were asking me about PMing at Wal-Mart, not Target.

I work at Target and I don't know why some stores use the excuse that B&M stores and Target.com are two separate companies, because they are one in the same. They should have priced matched it for you if it was the same dcpi, but I have noticed that there are two different types of cases, one that has the insignia on the front and those that don't and that is where the two different dcpi's come into play.

After driving around and trying a couple different avenues to get this I was able to price match it and have it shipped to my house at Best Buy (they didn't have any in store). Didn't take much effort at all, was just glad the website still had it at this price since they checked before approving the price match even with providing a print out (not that I blame them).

Grrr shot down at three different registers at WalMart..they refused to match online prices shown via cell phone, print ads only!

That sucks I have had Wal-Mart price match prices on my cell phone a couple times with no issues.

Hey, there's a thread here too. :p I was able to snag one at Best Buy and one at Walmart. Best Buy went off without a hitch but Walmart required the girlfriend turning on the charm.

Actually, the DCPI listed on the website is for the original "Star Trek: The Motion Picture", as in part 1 only. It is indeed a error on Target.com and the description. I matched it up with the tag in the store. Check out the DCPI's:

http://www.target.com/p/star-trek-the-motion-picture-blu-ray/-/A-14482852#prodSlot=medium_1_16&term=star+trek
http://www.target.com/p/star-trek-original-motion-picture-collection-7-discs-blu-ray-special-edition/-/A-11601557#prodSlot=medium_1_4&term=star+trek+collection

The reason I was ticked is I did not know this until after I figured it out when I was already in the store and the bs excuses they made to not honor their price match policy. Had they simply denied me based on the fact that it was an error on their site it would have went over much better with me. They ultimately just denied me based on the fact that it was such a large price drop - which is not acceptable, especially considering how anal Target can be on their policies.
GO GO GO... back in stock at Target.com
I ordered a couple - but I am half expecting to receive just the original motion picture movie, not the collection.

Hell fuckin' yeah. Been waiting for a deal on this, I don't care if the shipping adds a little bit. $13.75 for these on :br:? Sold.

Damn it!! Got on the website, it doesn't mention anything about it being out of stock, I get my hopes up and it tells me that the maximum quantity has already been added to shopping carts so I can't add one for myself :(

Got one in the apparent 10 min window it was available. Tried to get a second for a birthday gift but no luck.

If I can get this via PM, I will, but what would I do with the Blu-rays of films II, IV, and VI I got from the last U&S at BBY for $5 each? :whistle2:k

Good luck finding this in stores, the Durham Superstore location didn't have this one (but all of the individual movies on sale for $10 each).

Sweet, just got back from BB and got them to PM. I think it helped that my regular guy at the Geek Squad desk was there as I PM stuff all the time. He knows me by name and tends to bend over backwards to fix any issues I've had. He looked at the printout briefly and said ok (even though it said "currently unavailable").

That's quite the arrangement

I ended up doing an express lane checkout at BB. They pricematched the target price without hesitation. I just showed a printout from the Target website and a printout from the Best Buy website for the sku.

It's backordered and supposedly I'll receive it between June 13 and June 24. Sounds good to me. I hope it works out.

I've never even watched 5 minutes of an episode of the Star Trek (but I love the JJ Abrams films). Will I appreciate the original films better if I spend the next couple weeks watching the 3 seasons of the original Star Trek series?
I got an email that my target order has shipped. Hopefully it's the collection and not just the first movie
I'm keeping my finger's crossed for you guys who actually got to order it from Target.com. I have a feeling you'll get the 6 film collection.

Yes, you really should have a reference for the characters. Especially for the second movie, watching Space Seed is pretty much a must.
The first movie is very slow. I enjoyed it, but others have issues with it. If you really dislike the first movie, don't let it put you off, the second one is worth it.
