Cool, looks like its to the end of the year:

Get two free games a month with Xbox Live Gold**
Our members have made the Xbox Live community what it is today. As our way of saying thanks, we’re giving all qualifying Gold members two free Xbox 360 games each month for the rest of the year. Each specially selected, fan-favorite game will be available to download only for a limited time, so grab them before they’re gone and keep them no matter what.

LOL I guess they realized how much better Plus is.
Or they realized they could do same thing despite how much better XBOX LIVE is.

Yes, paying for an online service is worth paying for.

Honestly, the only benefit of Live is Xbox Live Parties - and that alone shouldn't cost $60 a year

At least we get to keep these, unlike PS+
True, but I've never had to deal with the issue of wanting to keep the games past my plus subscription. Also, this Xbox deal only lasts until the One comes out, and I'm guessing this doesn't carry over to the One. So you'll only be having the GoDs on your 360, which may or may not be a good thing depending on if you'd like to get a One around launch date.

No prob. I'm not getting an Xbox One. I have way too many games on 360 I've yet to play, plus I still need to buy a PS3 and play the exclusives on it at some point.

Yeah, that's the main advantage. If you don't currently have Gold, I'd highly recommend you buy it until the Xbox One launches, since you'll be able to keep the games even after your Gold expires, so you'd just be throwing away free games if you ignore this offer.

I don't know how anyone can complain about this. It's free and we get to keep it forever. It is a great deal

Did anyone get Halo 3 or ac2 btw? Already have both but hope it is for this month so I can look foward to others next month

I think it's more of a to little to late attitude. At least that's how I view it personally. Ok we get some free games for a few months but PS has been doing this same thing for what 2 years maybe (just a random guess, no idea how long it's been but it's been going on for awhile) and after every horrible announcement surrounding how restrictive the XBone will be nothing short of them announcing they will be removing all DRM will ever get me to like anything MS does ever again.

The whole thing just seems like something thought up just to try and gain some of the goodwill back that they've lost from gamers from all the XBone news.

It's for next month, Fable 3 is for this month

Actually it lasts through December 31st. The Xbox One comes out in November

If you don't currently have Gold, I'd highly recommend you buy it
Buy? If you mean just for the games, use the free month being constantly touted on this very website.
I hate having my CC on file and along with MS's shifty auto-renewal policies, I find it much easier to just buy gold cards from CAGers then use that method.
Put ur information on paypal, use paypal for checkout and then remove from paypal. It doesn't actually have ur CC information just your paypal information, but they can't do anything with that.

I hate Paypal even more. They screwed me out of over $100 in an eBay transaction. I purchase all my gold time using cash at Walmarts/Gamestop.

Too bad that I and all of my friends already have all those games.  This is more a goodwill thing on the part of MS than anything else.  I wish these were more recent games like AC3, Reach, or Gears 3

the ps4 is gonna be fucked... Plus can't handly against Gold now :D and to everyone who ever said "the ps3 is better becouse of free multiplayer", now the xbox is totally worth it :3 in a year of gold (just about 5€) you are given 24 games! who needs the sony now? XD

Btw, I remember on Xbox Rewards they were making often questionairs about the live asking what did you want to make it better... and my answer was always "Give us free games". I'm surprised they were actually reading them! XD

This is awesome, and appreciated, and it will definitely get me using my 360 a whole lot more between now and the end of the year. :)

But that being said, it's a weird marketing move, because it makes me even less likely to buy a One. Like, there's no backwards combatibility, right? So why in pluperfect hell would I buy a $500 machine that can't play the twelve-or-so full-legnth games I just got for free?

Im new to this forum so forgive me if im foolish for asking this: why should I be excited for games that came out three, four, and six years ago?

I expect more of the sams for the next few months of "free releases".

Who hasnt played these games already?

Ive been strictly xbox since the original xbox launched until recently when someone got me a PS3 as a gift. I gotta say, Microsoft has a lot of nerve to charge for the "privilege" to connect online for what PS3 does for free...and as said above, sony has been offering free games for the last few years.

Lets be honest: this is a money grab to get the consumer with limited hard drive space to upgrade their hard drive for the final 6 months of xbox360 (and its games) life cycle. These games become irrelevant in 6 months (if they arent already, based on their ages) and this is microsofts last money squeezing effort to move as much prodcut as possible and try to play it off as a good will gesture. Kind of convenient microsoft just launched a 250 gig xbox for 300 dollars huh? Especially with XBoxOne coming out soon? 250 gigs seems like ample space to download outdated games for "free"

3 games announced that most have played or don't want too. Good going MS you really are showing respect to us long term LIVE users.

I personally view it the exact opposite as does it seems the majority of people. The XBone is fucked. A couple free games a month (which you already get on PS+ and have gotten for years) isn't gonna make up for the amount of hate everyone has towards MS for every crazy ass restriction the XBone is putting in place, now that the PS4 has been announced to have none of those restrictions it's all over for MS unless they change their minds.

And this is all even assuming this carries over to the XBone, their has been zero indication so far that this will be the case.

"*“Games with Gold” bonus games offer available 6/10/13-12/31/13"

Edit: and I just read an an interview on a gaming site where someone from MS was directly asked will this program carry over to the XBone. They completely sidestepped the question and gave a non answer. Sounds like it won't be carrying over.

thenutman69321 is right. Also, because the PS4 will charge for online multiplayer this time around with PS+, servers will get a lot better and online multiplayer will be on par with Xbox Live because they'll actually have money to do maintenance and make sure online play is smooth, and I honestly won't mind paying for PS+ when you get free AAA titles. And it's not 24 games, it's only til the end of the year. With the PS4 having no restrictions and MS clearly having them, it's a no brainer. I do however appreciate the free games I'll at least be getting on my 360 (Even though I've most likely played them), I can't complain. Games For Gold is a nice farewell for the Xbox.

Maybe someone with a bit more experience could help clarify something for me.

"*“Games with Gold” bonus games offer available 6/10/13-12/31/13 for paid Gold members only. Each participating Xbox 360 game (selected by Xbox) available for download from Marketplace only during specified half-month window; available games may vary by country. Kinect and/or hard drive required for some games. Offer available in all Xbox Live countries while supplies last, is non-transferable, not redeemable for cash, and cannot be combined with any other rebate or offer. Taxes, if any, are the sole responsibility of the recipient."

That's the print mentioned at the bottom of the page. Am I right in assuming it means while the game is chosen, in this case Fable 3 till 6/15 that means I can only download it between that time period? Or does that mean I can "purchase" the game as it's free and then choose to download it at a later date past the 15th? Reason I ask is because I have the 20gb HDD (older model) so I wanted to make sure I have room for future free items they'll offer.

For instance I download Fable 3 now, play it a few and then after the 15th delete it, get the new one, but perhaps two months from now go back and redownload Fable 3. Is that possible or would I have to pay the price it currently is in the marketplace?

Thanks for any help anyone can provide.

If you download and delete the game, all you would have to do is go back to your Download History which you can access via your account on the Xbox website and re-queue it for download at any point in time. So yes, you can download, play, delete, then re-download your games in the future. :)

That being said, I get the feeling MS is trying to fill up our HDs to then pull the plug soon after the Xbone is out. At least that is my general feeling about this two free games business. I hope they keep the download service active for a long time but this is MS, and they are pulling dick moves left and right.

Or they realized they could do same thing despite how much better XBOX LIVE is.
or they are trying to justify charging people to play multiplayer gamers.

yea xbla is soooo much better because I can watch Netflix...by paying more!

honestly I am not going to turn down free games. But really, halo 3? like 90% of people who own a 360 haven't gotten around to playing this one? like those who haven't are all of a sudden going to be interested? come on, man.

that's sad. enjoy when it arrives.

Is Fable 3 gonna be free until the end of the month?
Till the 15th and then it's a new game. The 1st and 15th it changes, but that's not to say that it may or may not stay for awhile, but that's at least what the page read.

At the risk of sounding stupid, but everyone keeps mentioning Halo 3, AC2 and Fable 3 as the games available. I logged onto my XBox and found Fable 3 on the Page, but it was the only one listed. Where can I find the AC2 for free? I have Halo 3 already on disc so that one I am not worried about, but if I can grab AC2 then it might be further encouragement for me to finish up the first one.

Edit: Added a question about where to find AC2.

You technically dont have to download anything. I usually do my purchases through the XBOX LIVE website on my PC.

Just 'buy it' FREE (AKA Click on the button that says 'download'). It'll go to your download history and of course your download QUE.

Just take it off of your que but you'll still see it in your 'purchase' history whether its free or not.

At that point, just download it whenever you feel like it by just going to your download history and clicking 'download again' because the system still sees you as having 'bought' it.

The point is to make sure the system registers your account as having gone through the checkout process. Once you've gone through the checkout process the item is yours.

Microsoft using bandaid after all those scratches from Sony   Anyway I'm not sure did anybody noticed but this is kinda time exclusive deal, its not like XBL subscription is gonna be yelding free games now forever

Played through all 3 fables.already but still yay
Own TLC on PC and Xbox
Owned 2 for a while. then got full version download through the chapter 1 glitch
Now own 3 thanks to this promotion.

As for Halo 3... still have yet to play it, only played Halo 1,2 and reach. so I guess I'm part of 10%
Ass Creed 2... Own the first one (and liberation for that matter, which is still inside the vita bundle box)
Never beat the first one as it sucks... refuse to continue through series if I haven't beat them in order..  So.. useless to me.

In the meantime. I will enjoy all the free games I picked up today on PS+ :3

As long as you "purchase" it within the time period, you'll be bale to download it at anytime, because even though you did!'t download the game (or you did but then deleted it) you still own the game under your account, and Microsoft has already said we get to keep these unlike PS+

You're missing out on a lot by skipping AC 2, the beginning of the game gives a rundown of AC 1, and most people skipped the first one because it sucked. The improvements they made between the two totally justify skipping the first.

AC 2 and Halo 3 go free in July, but only one game will be free at a time, so it'll either be the first or second half of July.

Heh. Figures that they would do something like this AT THE END of the console's life cycle. Knowing M$ as soon as Xbox One comes out they will update the 360 dashboard that will make all your downloaded 360 games blocked and unplayable. But that's just being pessimistic...Unless you got the 300 GB hard drive I see no reason to jump at this-unless you constantly delete and re-download the games. Knowing my luck, I recently got a Gears 1 code and used it and sure enough, M$ will offer that game as a free download in the near future!

So I just went through the dashboard and didn't know about this... Are they making a conscious effor to make people aware, through the dashboard, that they are getting a free game??

Seeing how the games tab is 3 down the line, I'm gonna guess no. Someone prove me wrong please.

to whoever wrote about Gold is now better than PS+, microsoft is indeed giving two games for 'free' each month, BUT only until december, that means 12 games for 6 months, (13 with F3), THEY'RE NOT extending this forever, it's only a promo to say goodbye to the xbox 360, PPL LEARN TO READ ALL, EVEN SMALL LETTERS, (24 game per year, LMAO, in your dreams)

EDIT: this goes for XRey360 and those who still believes in: "gold = 2 games each month now and forever"

"As a message of thanks to the millions of Xbox fans around the world for their passion and loyalty, Microsoft announced that every qualifying Xbox Live Gold member — new or existing — will receive two free Xbox 360 game downloads per month starting July 1 until Dec. 31, 2013, including popular titles “Halo 3” and “Assassin’s Creed II.” And to celebrate E3 in the month of June, Xbox Live Gold will receive a free download of “Fable III.”[3] In addition, for a limited time gamers can get a Day One 12-month Xbox Live Gold membership and play “Killer Instinct: Round One,” with the exclusive Shadow Jago character, on Xbox One. Players will also receive a commemorative Day One membership card."

The 48-Hour Gold Passes however have just increased in value though because of this promotion... Here's hoping they do decide to stick around with this idea because it's the best one that they have come up with.
