Being a veteran of the first Donkey Konga (DK), you'll feel right at home with Donkey Konga 2 (DK2). Time spent playing: 1 hour. 9 songs on duet, and 1 song solo.
Biggest plus, and difference from the first DK. You can now earn coins playing duet in DK2 vs. having to playing solo to earn coins in DK. Nice.
Various music sound sets are now more evenly priced, you'll most likely earn enough money, coins, to purchase 2 sound sets per hour.
Song selection in DK2 is approximately the same number as in the first DK. (33, I believe) However, this round, there's more rock and alternative. Still using cover bands, some are good, some not so close. Pieces is not Ashely Simpsons', btw. Songs also seem a wee-bit short, and appear to cut-off after 2 to 2 1/2 minutes of play. (we went huh? weird.)
Graphics? Same as the first DK, only now backgrounds look like digital karaoke.
This is a game my Gf loves to play, and she hums and sings along with both DK and DK2. (Good luck trying to get your Gf to play Hunter: The Reckoning)
Maybe they, Namco and Nintendo, could have made this a two disc set? Being a fan of rhythm games, I'm already looking forward to the next volumn in the Donkey Konga series. It's like having your own juke box at home. How'bout a Donkey Konga '80s or Donkey Konga '90s? I'll promise to buy it on release date, again.
Finally, being a true CAG. I only paid about $23 for DK2 w/Bongos. Best Buy Milpitas, CA had 8 DK2 with Bongos for $49.99 and 16 DK2 w/o Bongos for $39.99. Only a ten dollar difference for the Bongos? Wow. So, the GGC brings it down to $44.99, and the Free $25 BB GC from Household Bank, brings it down to merely $19.99, plus about $3 tax.
Peace, keep drumming.
