Being a veteran of the first Donkey Konga (DK), you'll feel right at home with Donkey Konga 2 (DK2). Time spent playing: 1 hour. 9 songs on duet, and 1 song solo.

Biggest plus, and difference from the first DK. You can now earn coins playing duet in DK2 vs. having to playing solo to earn coins in DK. Nice.

Various music sound sets are now more evenly priced, you'll most likely earn enough money, coins, to purchase 2 sound sets per hour.

Song selection in DK2 is approximately the same number as in the first DK. (33, I believe) However, this round, there's more rock and alternative. Still using cover bands, some are good, some not so close. Pieces is not Ashely Simpsons', btw. Songs also seem a wee-bit short, and appear to cut-off after 2 to 2 1/2 minutes of play. (we went huh? weird.)

Graphics? Same as the first DK, only now backgrounds look like digital karaoke.

This is a game my Gf loves to play, and she hums and sings along with both DK and DK2. (Good luck trying to get your Gf to play Hunter: The Reckoning)

Maybe they, Namco and Nintendo, could have made this a two disc set? Being a fan of rhythm games, I'm already looking forward to the next volumn in the Donkey Konga series. It's like having your own juke box at home. How'bout a Donkey Konga '80s or Donkey Konga '90s? I'll promise to buy it on release date, again.

Finally, being a true CAG. I only paid about $23 for DK2 w/Bongos. Best Buy Milpitas, CA had 8 DK2 with Bongos for $49.99 and 16 DK2 w/o Bongos for $39.99. Only a ten dollar difference for the Bongos? Wow. So, the GGC brings it down to $44.99, and the Free $25 BB GC from Household Bank, brings it down to merely $19.99, plus about $3 tax.

Peace, keep drumming.

will i still enjoy it if i dont like alternative or rock music?
and what minigames are there in this one?
the first one had the banana juggling(thats the only one i can remember)

and its hard to get my gf to play any games besides animal crossing, tetris, mario kart:DD, pikmin 1(wont play 2) and she wont even play mario party with me since she heard my friends yelling on the mic

I don't know if I really want this game, but unfortunately I kind of have to get it to justify the purchase of the bongos in the first place. I rented Jungle Beat, and it was fun, but I finished it in 3 days.

Had the opportunity to play an additional 2 hrs this Sat. 20 more songs played through. The few R&B/Hip-Hop covers used are terrible; however, the few Techno/High Energy are really good. I'm a fan of most genres. Most songs still cut-off a-bit early (her biggest complaint). (It's like they had to compress or shorten the songs due to limited capacity or something.)

Mini-games. Good and okay. The Barrel Race is really fun! Sort of Tetris or Puzzle-Fighter like, where notes drop from the top and you race to clear them before the other player. You can set it to 40, 100, or 180 notes. Then the winner moves on and tries to win Badges/Icons of Nintendo characters. The other Mini-game is Rhythm Keeper, where you get to practice twice, and then try to duplicate a set without the notes; a bit tougher game.

Oh, and it's only in Stereo, there's no Surround (my biggest complaint). And I also noticed the limited backgrounds during gameplay. More game songs are also needed; there's only 1 in DK2! Final advice: DK1 is better than DK2.
