It doent matter they will have to sell it for a year before i buy it, I got ripped on the dreamcast. I Bought it first day it came out. I think i spent around 400 dollars that day.

when the DC came out it was 199. Granted with two games and accessories your total may have been that high, but there were a ton of good games on the system. I have more DC games right now than I do anything

Here's to hoping.
This is coming from a guy who owns 2 Dreamcast games
now why the hell would that matter? oo wow i only have 2 Dc games i must be a nintendo fanboy. ever think i maybe havent gotten around to getting more? the genesis was my first system. ive always loved sega. why the fuck does it matter how many games i have for it?

I spent my whole pay check that day, Yes I bought ,blue stinger, and nfl2k, extra controller, 2 vmus and a mad catz rumble pack. So yes I spent that much.

Ouch, you bought Blue Stinger...

Anyways, why is everyone so hyped up about another Sega console. Their stuff is always sub-par relative to what else is available, except for the first 6 months. For that first six months of console life, yes, Sega can provide a great gaming experience. But after that...meh.

I used to own a Dreamcast, but sold it when the PS2 finally hit it's stride and the Xbox/GCN were due. I even considered buying another DC recently since they're so cheap, but then I started combing through the games and realized there's less than half a dozen titles worth buying.

Doubt Sega will make another console, and if they do, I doubt it will make waves (other than in the diehard circles).

there are about 35 games worth getting for the system

i dont think there are 35 games if you arent a fighting fan/ sports fan/ import friendly. i tried dreamcast out and it just wasnt for me personally. granted i tried it like 2 months ago. i probably wouldve enjoyed it much better when it was a newly released system though.

I think that while SEGA may be not be the greatest console developer around, they are great for competition. The Genesis really gave Nintendo a scare and forced them to push for quality. The Dreamcast provided the basis of how next-generation sports games should look and play. The Madden series would not have been as good if it wasn't for the 2k series giving it a scare.

Come to think of it, the PS2 is really the first system to cover ALL genres of gaming. If you look at other systems past and present, they've all had strengths and weaknesses. Dreamcast's strengths were sports and fighting for example...which was fine. It's ok for a system to be lacking in a particular genre, the xbox/gcn still don't really have anything in the way of a classic rpg. It was encouragement to own more than one system, but the ps2 really has a hold on all genre's. hrmm...

ps1, nes, atari jaguar, genesis and snes had good showings from all genres.

yeah I'm one of those who got ripped by buying the DC, but that's nothing compared to the Atari Jaguar, now that system ripped me off BIG time! it was like $299 when it came out, a few bad games were released and in a matter of a few months the system was retired!

1. That little anecdote reads like pure bullshit, the kind of things kids used to say back in the long, long ago before the internet... like the kids that used to say in the days right before Super Mario Brothers 2 came out that they were already to Super Mario Brothers 5 in Japan.

2. Since Sega is under the control of Sammy, and Sammy cares more about arcade sector than anything else, new hardware is quite unlikely.
The only way that I could see that happening is if Sammy allowed Sega to spin off the home console division as another company, and there was one heck of a VC or another company that were willing to pump tons of funds into it.
I personally would LOVE to see a Sammy console.
considering SNKP is on board it would be a fighting game fans heaven ( also since CAPCOM is close to all those companies we would get all the best franchises on one system)

I'm curious where that smiley pulls that flag from.
Is it out of his ass like so many arguments, or like that little anecdote on that site?

Anyone who thinks the DC was a waste of money needs smacked. It had a ton of great games and the first to use online play (yes I know Saturn had online play to an extent, but I don't really consider that). I own two dreamcasts, a black one and a white one. I own like 25 games for it and still play it. There are about 10 games I can think of that are highly memorable games that go down as some of my all time favorites (PSO and SoA being the two biggest).

i could only wish this were true, but the info comming from a drunk women aren't very convincing. but anyway heres to hoping...

While we're pulling numbers out of our ass, I'd like to say my IQ is 7512.

Seriously though, I'd like to see a list of 35 games for the DC that are worth playing today. Don't count imports since they require a mod to play, and don't count games you can play on another console.

Let's see...Seaman, Armada...

i read similar articles to this, which just pissed me off. because, if sega released hardware again, i'd buy it, again, and it'd tank, again, and i'd get pissed off at sega, again.

and that is without Rez, KOF 2K, KOF 2K1, KOF 2K2, Headhunter, Shenmue II, Super Puzzle Fighter, Samba 2000 and Last Blade 2 (all these games can be found on other systems but many are better on the DC or the import version is better).

as for domestic releases, RE 2, 3, and CV could be added to the domestic llist (CV may not be the best version, but RE2 and 3 are best on DC). as far as FPS go it is still the only one with a kb/ mouse so add Rainbow Six , and Rogue Spear along with UT and Quake III.

I just keep finding them, Test Drive Le Mans, Ferrari F355 (never trust Acclaim to port anything), both Crazy Taxi games, and Space Channel 5.

Sega really needs to concentrate more on making descent games and stop worrying about hardware . I can't even remember the last good original sega game I played .

I'm not even a big fan of Sega, but smart enough to know you're a dumbass.

Yeah, no shit. Especially since they've been dominating the video game industry forever. I'm glad a new company like Nintendo came around. [heavy, heavy, sarcasm]

You got the first one, but where's the love for Marvel vs. Capcom 2? Best. 2D. fighting. game. EVER. I bought a DC at launch, and I'd do it all over again. It really was an excellent system.

Agreed, but that was the most glaring omission to me. It is on other systems I guess, but for some reason, I still think it just plays better on the DC than PS2 or X-Box. Maybe it's because of my DC arcade sticks... :)

yea all games play better with a good arcade stick and seeing as it was based on NAOMI hardware that is similar to the DC its the best version

Ah yes, it's been so long I had forgotten all about NAOMI. Thanks for reminding me. I knew it wasn't just my imagination... :)
