Ah good. thread for this. Hows GOG work? im thinking of getting this but dont want to deal with DRM crap, or putting another client on my system. i dont see much info on their site for how it works. can anyone fill me in? id wait for a steam sale but they dont have most of these

Good Old Games is DRM-free. It's one of the big selling points that they are known for. Some of the games have been specially modified to run on modern operating system. Some just have an emulation layer applied to them. (usually DOSbox) All of them come with a custom installer to automate the setup process.

You purchase a game on Good Old Games. It is now in your GOG account. You can download the files for the game as many times as you like, and install the games on as many computers as you want. Each game comes with all of the original files that came with the original release. (so you could run them with other emulators like SCUMMVM if you really felt like it) You are free to backup your GOG games on CDs, DVDs, external HDD, thumb drives, whatever you please. There is no additional client software, like Steam, you just download each individual game from the GOG site.

GOG isn't strictly necessary. You could pirate any of the titles available on the site easily enough. But it is an excellent way to financially reward someone for archiving and distributing these classic titles. And with the kind of prices they're throwing around in this sale there really is no excuse. I've only been using GOG for a brief time, but have enjoyed their service immensely. I'm going to be keeping a close eye on this summer sale.

sounds sweet. $20 is pretty good for all these. i hear theres a baldurs gate enhanced edition, but id rather play the original.

i actually have the neverwinter collection disks but for this price it would be nice for drm free downloads

i bought the master anthology for $6 on gamersgate a while back, this collection is definitely more complete (with dragon shard and both NVNs).  $20 seems like a steal for all of these games!

Just saw this in my e-mail, too!  Went for the D&D collection!  Planescape: Torment, ftw!

Of note, Kotaku posted this great article about a developer who used the mod tools from Neverwinter Nights 2 to recreate the original Baldur's Gate in 3D.  It is what got his foot in the door to work at TimeGate Studios (developer of Section 8).  You can read about it here:

http://kotaku.com/holy-hell-this-guy-re-created-all-of-baldurs-gate-in-511489475

It is known as Baldur's Gate: Reloaded.  When I read about the deal, I knew it was going to be worth even more just because of the great mod tools and the avid community.

Yeah, it's over. They have most of their catalog on for 50% sale, and each day a few other games are more like 75-90% off. Yesterday was the D&D games, and today there's a mix of games from different publishers and different genres. The deals of the day are listed on the main gog.com page.
