it's a whole new experience now. I stopped playing after Burning Crusade came out and I started again last month. They made everything easier to get to and access to, and achievements, mounts are now account specific, so you can use mounts with any character you have. It's easier to jump into. Some see it as bad and some see it as good. I like it personally.

But then again, I don't know what they changed since cataclysm, since i hadn't played for 5 years lol.

Unless you can find some third-party deal they never really give promos on subscription rates (excluding buying six month/one year passes). The idea of offering the game/expansions cheap is to hook another person into paying the $15/month.

Does anyone know if I can buy the digital version and wait to apply it to my account? I want to get the sale price but don't have the time to play right now.

I'm interested in giving WoW another shot, but I'll probably just wait until everything is packaged together for $10.

I think it automatically applied or else you might have the option to just buy the key. Try checking out and before confirmation see what it says. That would probably be the best bet.

The only time I seen a deal on WoW timecards was at BestBuy or Target B2G1 Free sale.

Can get 3 x 2 month cards (6 months) for $59.98. That B2G1 sale only happens 2 times a year though.

The way they are bleeding subscribers, I wouldn't be surprised if they finally lower the subscription price.  They lost another 1.3 million subscribers from feb - apr this year.  Going to be interesting to see what they do to stop the bleeding.

I have never played WoW due to having a shit computer.

Is it even worth it? My friend wants me to purchase this but I'm saving money
How shit is shit? You can play WoW on an extremely antiquated system given how little they've done to the engine in the last nine or so years. It's not bad to play for a month if you just get the base game for $5 or whatever they sell it for -- you won't be able to get to level cap but there's no point in that unless you want to keep playing for months and months.

Confirmed. The Blizz Store will send you a key for each item you purchase. The Battlechest will be a separate key from Cataclysm and Mists of Pandaria. I still have a spare $5 Battlechest key from a prior sale that I haven't used. When you're ready, you just choose to upgrade whichever license you want to upgrade and apply the key (since you can have more than one WoW license on a Battlenet account).

It's also a great way to get a second account to RAF yourself, for the 300% xp bonus, the free levels, and the two-seater RAF mount.

So I started up again in april, right after target's B2G1 free sale ended in March :headache: ... any one have an idea when BB or Target will have their next B2G1 free sale? I'd hate to resub only to see the cards go on sale...

Heck, I'd even take a random sale on time cards at this point.

Is it still worth playing? Story wise I mean. I tried SWTOR and played for a week and while story quests and everything seem partially interesting but there was just not enough stuff that motivated me to keep playing. Guess I'm not cut out for MMO.  :bomb:

The quests themselves are still horribly dull. You can get the story from YouTube videos or wowpedia, etc.

I see. Thanks for the info. I just broke both my legs and have a lot of free time but I think I'll skip this one.

Ouch indeed.

I played SWTOR for about a month and a half. If you were on the F2P system, it was likely a frustrating experience with run/sprint restrictions, credit caps and other annoyances.

That said, even with preferred and sub status I found the game to be entertaining but lacking something.

I think i went in with decent expectations as a long time WoW veteran looking for a decent f2p alternative to kill some time, provide some entertainment and satisfy my quest for purply pixels. After that month or so, and leveling numerous characters I just found myself with nothing inspiring to do. Storylines seemd like they were good on paper, but the whole light/dark side thing didnt seem like it really affected much of what you did. The individual stories seemed as if it were on rails in that nothing you ever did really seemed to change your character's development (in the end there may be a handful of choices across all the characters that change anything). Had way, way too many bad tank/healer experiences. No auto attack for "white" attacks was also something that I could never adjust to. Dungeons had a hilarious difficulty bump around 40 that made queueing for them pointless.

So I ended up resubbing to WoW after a multi year break due to wanting more out of an MMO and knowing my old guild mates were still online and enjoying the daily grind that is MoP (and it is most definitely a grind when you reach level cap)

I went OT, but figured I would chime in. I say if you had played before, give it a shot via rez scroll. If you're new, new ... find someone ot refer you so you can get crazy xp gains and other benefits. I believe you get 30 free days with the battle chest (or at least you did previously) which gets you through WotLK. Cata content blows by with the xp requirements being reduced. Last patch also made MoP content go much faster with a 33% leveling XP reduction. So you can hit level cap fairly quickly even as new.

Yes big ouch for that and it's freaking summer!!! Got ran over by a car if anyone is curious.

I see what you mean now. Good thing I quit first. I was at level 20 and got bored already. As for WOW I don't have any friends who play it so I'll take your advice and not go it alone since I'm new, new. I have just finished the Last of Us and is working on Metro Last Light now but I prefer to have a secondary game to switch back and forth to.

Holy crap ... I'm sorry to hear that. All the best with recovery, medical bills, any court issues and what not.

Even if you are new, new and dont have any wow friends... you can ask ppl to refer you where you both get bonuses (300% XP gains, a free grantable level, potential for a 2 person mount for the referer, etc).

Keeping it semi on topic, since I dont think it was mentioned and as a general FYI. A rez scroll will still grant you free Cata permanently if you were subbed during WotLK and never upgraded. So if you quit back then, you'll only need to pickup MoP after you get a scroll.

Whoa look at those bonuses. Guess I'll look at gameplay footage on Youtube and see what it's like now. Thank you. At least one good thing about this is I have a lot of time for gaming.

It's not a bad game it just get repetitive at level cap.  The leveling dungeons are a pretty fun experience, though.

A lot depends on your playstyle. If you're planning to just play solo then WoW really does have a lot to see now vs say back in Burning Crusade. The Cataclysm revamp of the low level zones made a lot of them way better than they used to be. Some things you might consider -

- Play a different class, or play several of them

- Play the other faction - some of the starting zones are pretty enjoyable, like the Forsaken and the Worgen

- If you're ok with Pokemon-style games, do Pet Battles while you level - they grant xp too!

One advantage you have is that being new new, you won't blow through the levelling content if you don't activate the 300% xp RAF boost. Enjoy the story and the sights, there's still a lot of it there for a new player.

Well, i tried it out,  the changes that have occured since i played back before cataclysm came out have been too big. Talent tree is completely different,  spells been replaced or names changed,  i found myself lost to what i used to know.  I couldn't play my character without having to completely relearn what the spells do and which and how to apply them.

If i'm gonna have to relearn a game i'd rather do it with a new game all together,  this game is not what i remember it being so i wont be returning to it,  for the past year i've been playing lich king version on the free servers at www.molten-wow.com and that is exactly how i remember the game. I just thought i'd give my thoughts on how i feel about the new expansion compared to the old.

Well it's a MMO, and it's one of the oldest ones around. You have to relearn stuff pretty much every patch, never mind three expansions ago. A lot of stuff was overhauled in Cataclysm, including the talent system. While I don't agree with all the changes (my druid was unrecognizable from when I rolled her in Burning Crusade) many of them are both quality of life improvements or substantial increases in content. Give it a chance, even if it's just the free game from 1-20 on a new toon. You might actually like the changes.

I wouldn't worry about missing this sale. I'm pretty sure Mop has gone on sale around mid month just about every month since last nov/dec or thereabouts

Also not the lowest it's been. Got a physical copy for $16 shipped back in April on the newegg sale.

It should be noted that Mists of Pandoria is back to retail price in the US. I was just about to snag myself a copy, too. Boo.
