Third Party Titles and Multi-Console Homes

I'm thinking about getting a Wii U (hopefully that price drop will happen first) and have a few questions for Wii U owners. I currently have a Xbox 360 and will be getting either PS4 or XO during the holiday season. So I will be living in a multi-console home.

My question is, to those who have a Wii U in additional to other consoles, how do you find yourself purchasing third party titles (volume of titles aside)? Do you buy most of your third party games on PS3/360 or Wii U?

I imagine myself buying most third party titles on Xbox/Playstation because that is what I am used to and just buying the first party Wii U exclusives (Mario, Sonic, Zelda, etc) for the Wii U. Are there any third party games that play amazingly better on the Wii U than Xbox/Playstation?

Third party games on the Wii U will benefit from the Gamepad. I'll use Call of Duty for example.

One person could be shooting up on the HDTV, while someone else may be shooting down from the Gamepad. Each user gets their own screen. There is no screen cheating or dividing the screen up for each player. This allows for more exciting games as you won't be able to tell where the other player is and you get more space for yourself.

The Wii U also benefits from the gamepad for single player. Batman for example has your map on the lower screen with quick access to gadgets. It beats pausing to see the map. Resident Evil Revelations features on the fly inventory swapping which streamlines the games menu process.

The Wii U is more powerful so games on the Wii U will often feature higher resolution and more detailed graphics. Need for Speed: Most Wanted is one of these games and I can see the next Batman, next COD, Assassin's Creed 4, Watch Dogs, etc running better on the Wii U.

Unfortunately, some third party games do not take advantage of the Wii U as much and can be a sloppy port. Watch out for those.

Only Third Party I would get are WiiU exclusives.  If it exists on another system, I will get it on another system for one reason alone: Achievements.

As of right now, given the option between the PS3/360 version or Wii U version, I'd pick up the Wii U version of third party games like Need for Speed. When the PS4/X1 come out though, you'll probably be better off getting those versions.

I admit, I picked up way more third party stuff than I would have had there not been the drought. As long as it wasn't *horrendously* broken on the WiiU, I picked up that version. I also love the GamePad and hate acheivements, so that helped. I've enjoyed all the third party stuff I've played on the WiiU, aside from the games that were horrible to begin with (AC3, 007 Legends). The Wii U is my 'go-to' console at this point, unless it's something that just isn't on the Wii U.

That said, I'm guessing that stops this fall. With picking up a PS4, I would see no reason to get, say, the Wii U version of Watch Dogs over the PS4 version, which I'm guessing will be my thing going forward.

Love the Wii U, and have absolutely zero regrets about spending the money. I've probably put more time into it since November than I have on my PS3 in the past 3 years. That was even more surprising when I realized how much of that time was spent on third party titles.
