Nintendo 3DS AQUA BLUE $99.99 at Frys.com

Fry's has had the original 3DS Sku (i.e. the fat box) which is discontinued on clearance for some time.

It is not a good price matching opportunity for most as it is available in-store only and there are only like 30 Fry's locations in ~ 10 states.

Is Best Buy likely to price-match an online deal like this (with the item only in stock at stores)?  My local BB has the Aqua color in stock, so I'm more than half-tempted to try, but I have no experience with price matching there, and of course their policy says the item must be "immediately available."

Price Matching @ Bestbuy IIRC states it has to be a local competitor (25 miles I think) so it won't work. Frys isn't shipping so you're also out of luck there.

If it truly is the fatter box that means it is an even better deal because those come with a charging cradle.

^ The Aqua Blue and Flame Red 3DS consoles only came in the fat packaging with the crade. Black. Purple and Pink came in both sizes and are now just manufactured in the slim packaging.

Blue and Red 3DS consoles are discontinued and are no longer being made.

You can price match at best buy. It doesnt even need a manager override. I think the item may be deleted from the system, because Nintendo discontinued production.

Depending on how much money you are taking off a price change will need a manger override. Nowadays BestBuys (or atleast mine) don't check to see if the store has any in stock before just changing the price to try and keep the business.

I gave price matching a try at my BB.  Showed a guy the page, which I had printed out (no smart phone), and he immediately noticed that it was unavailable and said no.  Too bad, since it took me a while to find a free employee (I remember when I would get hit by like three as I walked in the door, but the one time I need help ...).

The aquas there were $150 and the flame reds $155, FYI (as they are on the BB website, though they're in store only).  I might end up going back since I'm eager to play the 3DS games I've already bought.

Best Buy price matched K-Mart's $140 sale price when I got my 3DS. they didn't even ask me for the ad or call them. it's worth a try

Always use a smartphone when price matching. I listed this because I got the deal. Just show them on your phone and it should work. Also remember this certain 3ds will be rare soon. So grab while you can.

I wouldn't call it rare. It was one of the original launch color and the 3DS is selling pretty fast. Sure it won't be available anymore but it still will circulate for many years.

And to think I spent $180 [with taxes & shipping] for a 3DS from Gamestop.com. :(

Granted it was a black & gold Zelda 3DS but still it was the cheapest on the site.

I also used existing store credit so.

I got a question for those who know all the 3DS editions and such. Almost all the Zelda 3DS system's I've seen has a triforce on the front and mine doesn't. It just has the gold lettering on the back of the 3DS. Anyone know why this is? Or was it sold separately like that?

There's nothing on the top of it? Sounds like someone put the battery cover from the Zelda 3ds on the bottom of a cosmo black 3ds and traded the cosmo in as a Zelda edition. You need to get back to Gamestop and try and sort that out.

I live in NJ just did a price match at Best Buy using an online price from Frys.  I printed out the specific page, which listed the effective date of the sale, picked up the item and paid for it at Customer Service.  The item was only available in-store, not for shipping.  Transaction took less than 5 minutes, including waiting in line.

If you read the Low Price guarantee on Best Buy's, you'll see the list of online stores that they'll match and how to do it in person.

Take that back to GameStop! Someone swapped the battery case with a black 3DS. The Legend of Zelda 3DS has the triforce logo on the cover, with gold trim all around it, in addition to the gold print.

I ordered it on Gamestop.com and it's refurbished and the official listing doesn't say it's a Zelda 3DS. It just says "3DS System Black/Gold - ReCharged Refurbished". However, the product page does show the Triforce logo in the product's image.

Here's some pictures of the console: http://imgur.com/a/TytGe

On the inside the d-pad and all the buttons do have gold lettering. Is it worth the effort of dealing with Gamestop? I've never had to contact their customer support but they might just say it was never listed as a Zelda 3DS anyways. I mean IT IS black & gold, lol.

It works fine. It's probably just best to ignore the headache of dealing with gamestop.

I was able to price match at a Wal-Mart for a pink system, just had to pull up the page on my phone. I was surprised with how easy it was.

If I was to guess, GameStop switched the top half with a regular black cover (since its refurbished). My friend bought a refurbished PSP back in the day, and the front literally had no Sony or PSP markings...

i saw this thread and went to my WI Best Buy and they also pricematched it for me, thank you to the OP for this thread

Another great price matching opportunity is the $50 red dsi on frys along with a $50 wii bundle with mario

I took the pink ones web page to bb and got myself a red one no issue. Debating going back and getting a purple and blue for early xmas shopping but, with the ps4 vita compatibility I'm going to guess vita sales will raise this holiday. I wouldn't be surprised if the non xl 3ds hits around 100 for holiday shopping so I might hold off.

I thought this would be hard to do but went to Best Buy and got a price match the employee matched frys.com no problem when I took in the printed out page. If you are looking for a 3DS definitely worth a try of course they would only let me get pink.

Says it's unavailable though on the frys page. Not sure they would still honor it, not without some difficulty at least.

Edit: Nope, still there.

Yeah I though with it not being in stock for shipping that they would instantly turn me down it was much easier than I though to get them to price match.

Quick clarification for those still interested.

Best Buy will price match. I went today. The games associate pulled the web page up on his smartphone and verified the price.

The reason I didn't get it was because it wasn't available at any nearby stores. Since it wasn't available online anymore, he checked nearby stores. If it was available at a nearby Frys then I would have gotten a price match. If it was still available online then there wouldnt be a problem.

So do your homework. Also its only for the pink 3DS now.

I was able to price match even though it was unavailable on the site and there is no frys anywhere near me I think it depends on how min the employee knows about the price match policy if anyone is near a best buy its definitely worth a shot I can post my receipt later of that would help anyone.

Normally we can price match (I work for BestBuy) if you can buy it online and the shipping is free or as said before a store is near the BestBuy you are at.

I personally never check to see if a nearby store is in stock but I generally try to help people out and usually shipping is hardly an issue.
