Best Place to Trade/Sell Dvd & BR?

I moved recently and severely downsized my DVD collection and also got rid of a couple BDs. I mostly used Amazon. You may get some big values depending on what you're trading in. I made enough credit to pay for my PS4 preorder.

Beyond that try a local record or book store. My local Half Price books seemed to buy everything. Any place you go is going to mark your stuff up when they're reselling it, but that's life.
 
Amazon offers like 25 cents on most DVDs and local places aren't any better (at least around me). BDs get a bit more but they're still pretty crap.

I've got a 20 or so DVDs that want to get rid of but they're worth like $3 total, so I'm just gonna donate them.

Depending on the Blu-ray, trading them into MovieStop would be best as it gets you a new release for free.

Otherwise, sell them instead on Amazon or eBay.

If the DVDs are going for cheap, trade them into BestBuy for the Upgrade and Save promo.
 
I also use swapadvd.com. I trade in discs there that don't have a lot of value. I get 1 credit for every DVD disc and 2credits for every blu ray disc. I have traded for some great DVD and blu rays there.
 
Bring in a non-burned, non-porno DVD to Best Buy and get a coupon for $5 off any Blu-ray $10 and up. Each case counts as one coupon, so digipaks and multi disc sets will only net you one coupon unless you separate it and give each disc its own case.

I am a member of several local reselling groups on facebook, can almost always sell off dvd's etc, though I am in near a Navy base so that makes for lots of new people selling and buying all the time. YMMV of course. The Best Buy program is good as long as you find something you want to buy. 

 
eBay is useless for most used DVDs. You cannot make any money as people aren't willing to pay much at all for used ones as most won't sell above 4 bucks and it costs at least 2 bucks to ship crap plus another dollar to track them so it's simply not worth the effort unless you're selling a bulk of them off at once in the same listing.

 
Ebay just seems like an awful lot of work to sell individual dvds. I might try moving a bunch in individual lots but I think Amazon might be my best bet for most of them. I'll see what I can get towards my PS4/X1 system. We'll see I suppose. Any other suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks everyone.

 
What exactly are you selling? Many rarer DVDs are still valuable.

Also, check out FYE or MovieStop or some other such store. Whatever their prices are for your used DVDs are probably the max you can get online.
 
I just have a shit ton of dvds I've been accumulating for the past 8-10 years. The majority of them are the normal dvds you could buy over that time period. A couple seem to have value on Ebay but not a lot of them.

The nearest Moviestop or FYE is an hour or two away from me. The only options other than Best Buy in my town are the local pawn shops, a couple small music/movie places and...Amazon.

Even their trade-in prices for new, sealed blu-rays have dropped tremendously in the past couple of months.

 
 Bet after gas and time to take local or sell online not worth overall. This will be the same with blus in 5-10 years to. lol i am a sucker. :)

 
I had a garage sale yest sold dvds for 25 cents to $2. Was not worth the time and energy i ended up taking around 70 movies and leaving them on some dudes porch. Now that was funny to watch him find them. muhaha priceless!

 
If you think about it like this, you can "trade" your DVDs for the upcoming $5 Upgrade & Save Coupon at Best Buy.  Even though you have to spend money on a Blu Ray over $9.99, at least trading in older DVDs this way is giving you the absolute best value you can possibly get for a DVD.

I'd rather get a $5 TiV for a DVD movie I don't watch to use towards a Blu Ray that I will, rather than trade it in for $2 credit or for less than $1 cash elsewhere.  Of course, this doesn't apply very well to TV Season & Box Set DVDs, but at least it covers a wide margin.

I totally get what you're saying. I think I'm getting a little bit past the point where I need to have every movie I like. I will be taking advantage of the Best Buy deal on a few blu rays but with all the streaming options available, the fact I have many of them already in digital format and the fact my girlfriend really doesn't like the films I have from bachelorhood, I think it'll be better for me to get rid of, at least, some of them. If I could get some cash/credit for my next gen console even better.

 
Yea, I wonder how much Half Priced Books pay on avg. for each DVD? Probably not much, might be better off going to Bookmans(AZ store).

If I could go back in time and change one thing in my life, it would be to purchase less DVD's. What a damn waste except for a handful of my favorites.

Anybody here have luck on craigslist? Hell I'd take a $1 per and I have some good DVD's, all in great shape too. They take up so much damn room.

The pawn shops in my area are extremely picky with DVDs so for me it was never worth it. Still, if you can find a shop that will take them for .50 a piece that's pretty good so I would jump on that if they'll take your stuff.

And I'm guessing I was unaware of free tracking with ebay as I don't use their labels to mail my stuff with so I assume that's how it gets to be free? Otherwise I have no idea how that's possible as all the post offices here still charge for tracking.

 
A whole page and no mention of Half.com?  I've been selling DVDs there for years.  Very similar to Amazon marketplace and a lot of sellers list on both.  I always have 20 or so movies there and they seem to sell pretty well. 

Some decent prices- however it's a long process if you have lots of discs to sell.  You could always start there, let them sell for a month, and take a bulk rate somewhere else on the ones that don't sell.

 
The ones that have a decent selling price on Half.com, I go there. Otherwise, it's Craigslist for the slow burn.

If the DVDs are worthless, you would get more value out of them at Best Buy's Upgrade and Save or Warner's DVD2Blu.com.
