Newegg: $10 off for new customers

I remember making an additional Newegg account to take advantage of the offer but when I did, they wanted a minimum purchase.

 
It says "Offer valid until August 12, 2013". If I make a new account and enter the code but put it toward pre-ordering GTA V will I still get $10 off? As far as I know they don't charge until the item ships, which is Sept 17. Has anyone tried this?
