I can't post links but it's called Playstation Plus Refer a Friend and it only works for people who have PS+ already.  I don't know if they had a select few to get the email but I got it.

Let me know if you want in.  All I need is your email then you'll get a code soon.  I can only have 5 people have it.  It would be a plus if you subscribed to either a 3 month or 1 year plan as well.  We would both get $5 credit on PSN.

And it's only for people who don't have PS+.  This would be a great way to break that wall between value of a paid membership!

 
i can confirm that what the op is talking about is real. there is no link to post and we can only refer 4 people buy adding there email to the email list and sony will email you the plus trail. i have 5 spots open if anyone is interested after op spots are gone

Unless those people just used it for the trials and don't plan to sign-up.

I also got the email. If anyone plans to sign up to PS Plus, who doesn't already have it, send me a PM with your email and the subject PS Plus, after the others before me get their referrals. For us to be eligible for the $5 PSN funds credit you need to purchase either a 3-month or 12-month via the PSN store after the 30-day trial is complete. I really just want to refer people who actually want to buy a subscription.

I have 4 slots. It ends 9/4/13, really soon. The thread isn't as popular as I would have thought I'd get.

Since I only have 1 2 left, priority will be given to people who are going to buy a subscription. Let me know if you will be subscribing in a PM. And I may want to save the other one for a friend, but will use it for one of you on the last day 9/4 if unclaimed by my friend.
