Interesting this has been on my amazon wishlist and I noticed it was at 99.99 this am when I checked my list.  This must be starting its free fall, but how low will it go?

Thanks OP i really want that lamp but not for $70, that's a decent price going by what it sells for on ebay alone and this is a complete new CE. I'm gonna wait a little longer hopefully it goes down to $60 maybe $50. Man i might just cave in though guess we'll see...

Unless you are using some niche debit card, you are fine. Debit cards function exactly like credit cards when used online and in many cases, enjoy the same fraud protection as their CC counterparts. You are just missing out on some awesome benefits.

And OOS already? Damn I was ready to order.

WTF? I am not a flipper but if this is 80 on amazon and it trades in for 100 on amazon could I buy one and then trade that one in? That's crazy.

You could if you have Prime and no tax. I locked one in at $100 something but will does not make sense for me to go this route. GS->AMZ at least I can do credit transfer.

 
So essentially your paying 80+tax (California) and getting a 20$ or so gift card in return (TIV is 106.60), right?  When you trade this it do you put the lamp and everything or just the game?

I would think long and hard about buying this to flip into Amazon.

Read the trade in thread about what happened with the Defiance CE. Every single one got rejected for incorrect sku (i.e. we don't want to pay out).

Combine that with the fact that there was a high incidence of defective plasma lamps and you might end up getting stuck with whatever you trade in all while losing the option of returning it back to amazon.

Yes except they are going to open and inspect the package. Broken/defective lamp? It'll get returned to you. If they don't feel like paying out because too many people locked in the trade? It will get returned to you...

and now it's been opened so you won't be able to return it to amazon.

So just make sure you want it in case the deny the trade because if they do you'll ultimately be stuck with it and you can't complain to Amazon because they sub-contract their trade-in program to another company.

Yeah, I would imagine one would just rip the seal and trade it as a whole. You could buy with AMZ credit and trade back (it would be even better), but there is the risk that others mentioned. For me I have to pay almost 10% tax, and don't have Prime plus gas+time to the UPS drop off location, I wouldn't do it in a million years, even without the Amazon trade in risk.

Theyre common but its a cool ce :D.

Some of the lamps had leaking issues with a non toxic gas. Presumably one that doesnt have a lengthy "life" span. Some had cracks or shattered glass (really isolated incidents)

Worth it but I feel it will drop more.
 
Any chance that GS will restock the PS3 version or should I wait for amazon to lower the price?

I've seen the Youtube videos but I'd love a CAGers first hand opinion on the lamp. I remember a ton of people here who preordered at $150. Is there lamp still holding up well?

I love it. I don't turn it on as much as when I first got it, but it's still a cool looking piece to have.

 
Called my local GameStop and they held it for me. Traded 4 games and the sales girl hooked me up with a 50% extra trade in coupon so ended up paying $15 and change. Bought the last Xbox copy but still had 2 ps3 copies in stock. Thanks for the heads up on the sale.

Can you believe I bought this at MSRP, and I still haven't used the lamp?

I misplaced the friggin' power adapter... While I'm here,  I'm as to know if anyone could let me know the specifications of it. Because I have a few here, but no idea which one it is exactly. If someone could also let me know the name of the power adapter would really help.
