*Note, take this as a rumor but it appears Upgrade&Save WILL NOT be returning, going by past schedules October 7th is when the new round starts, if anything change's I'll update this thread*

Don't much care for your note on the bottom OP. Hopefully that's not the case.
Apparently it's not stopping their either:

FYI heard that BB will be redoing the media section. It will all be from plan o gram from now on. Basically, Anderson will put it out it what the plan tells them to and if it isn't on the plan o gram it get pulled and sent back. So umm pretty much don't expect to see a lot of catalog titles anymore (there isn't much anyway).

But yes, they just won't have movies for the sake of movies anymore. If it isn't on the plan o gram it won't be on the shelves. So pretty much BB is killing in a sense it's media department. From talking to my friend, BB doesn't see the point of stocking older movies. They are looking from the stand point that only new releases are selling and old stock just sits there.

Again, just rumor (for now).

Well that sucks. Anyways as always thank you 1000x Chatgirl for all the weekly updates.

Same, thanks!

BTW, for the upgrade and save -- to clarify, is that going on right now?  If so, what is the deal?  Never done it before.

No, upgrade and save is not going on ATM. Basically bring in any DVD that's not porn or bootleg and receive a $5 off coupon towards any blu-ray priced $9.99 and above, usually you can do 5 per day unless you have more then one store or lenient employees

Not going to be surprised if true. This blows

I will tell you from my time at Best Buy a year ago, they told everyone that they would be phasing out all physical media such as movies and CD's and continue with the bare bones.  With online sales killing them, it just wasn't worth the store space for either section.

So be prepared to not be able to do any of it except maybe the brand new releases and that is it!  To me it makes sense, there were those select few who were in all the time buying movies, but with free shipping pretty much everywhere, it is just easier to shop online for that!

I could eventually see games go that way too due to the push for digital instead of physical...

The problem is that many people still consider BBY to be the "go to" place for media due to the fact that BBY has established themselves as that for a long time now. So now by cutting this off they are potentially alienating people away from shopping at BBY period. As well as things like iTunes, Amazon, and Spotify have done there's still many people out there who outright refuse to order things online for various reasons. Heck ever try explaining to a 60 year old how to use iTunes when all she wants is the latest Michael Buble release? To her anything beyond putting a CD in the CD player is "too complicated" and she wants the dang CD now not "well wait a week for it to come in the mail."

Also why do you think Minecraft out of all things suddenly got a physical release on the Xbox 360? Because soccer moms buying it for their kids probably demanded it enough. That alone is why I don't think physical media sales for gaming is going away any time soon.

I wouldn't be surprised. I went to one of my local Best Buys on Saturday and found they cut the movie section down to about half. They took the section where the movies were, replaced them with phones or something, and moved the movies in the same cramped section with the CDs. However, this was at the one Best Buy in town that already had kinda a crappy selection. I haven't checked the other one in town yet.

Sigh, the digital age is starting to take over and it makes me sad.  Too bad BB, you're just pushing me back in bed with Amazon. : \

I can't wait for the Exorcist 40th Anniversary release!!! Sould be epic!
Aside from two new special features and an excerpt of The Friedkin Connection, there really isn't anything to differentiate this from the digibook release...I'll grant you that the two new features sound very intriguing, and I would love to upgrade to this edition for them, but not at $35...heck no.

Ugh... That blows.. Thanks for letting us know..
