I dont get why we are reporting values here? You can look it up on your own, lol.

i guess they are comparing with one another to see who made off with the most profit.

Well this is the trade in thread plus with people having 100+ game backlogs seeing the current values can be the difference.

Not to mention CAG is full of mathmatically challenged people just take the 10% off or bump. I see people double the base + bonus or take the 10% off the price with tax.

Not to brag or anything but I made $3,000 on Best Buy trade-ins today. I am the greatest flipper alive.

Pics or it didn't happen.

The gaming counter and dedicated gaming reps were removed for a reason.

As far as guaranteed values go, I believe they have done that with select games in the past.

Promotional coupon idea is too confusing. Maybe if it was written in a different format, it would be easier to understand, but I reread that a couple times and barely understood any of it.

That's usually the problem. The ideas are so complex that it could never be done because consumers would never understand how it works.

traded in Killzone Shadowfall, and NHL 14 for $64!  Couldn't pass up Killzone at $30+ seeing as I saw it at $20 last week.  Finishing up I:SS plat this week so I can get the $45 for it!  Then use the credit to get MLB the show on PS4

Yeah. We have had this conversation in the past. I know Enuf has had some ideas picked up, but most of the suggestions are unrealistic. They need to get more people on board with the trade in program and GCU, but making it more confusing to the average person isn't going to help.

I love trade ins at the customer service counter.  There was never anyone at or near the gaming department in my local best buy so I'd always have to wait 5-10 minutes waiting for other department reps to contact the one gaming dude who could actually help me trade the games in.

First world problems.  At least you get to trade in.  Appreciate that fact.

This is pretty much my exact experience with the program.

I think a lot of the trading problems go away if they rework their trade in software to be a little more like Gamestop. That system seems to be so idiot-proof, it will actively assist you in getting the best deal available despite the employee. I've never really looked at the screens, but I also have never missed out on a promotion through anything other than my own fault.

A well trained Best Buy employee can knock out a trade in about the same time as Gamestop (assuming the printer has paper, they can find where the last person hid the gift cards, the pen has ink, etc.). So a little hand-holding for the inexperienced would go a long way towards normalizing the experience for everyone.

not really that odd they have changed tiv before at 11am and even at times in middle of day lately they have gotten better and faster at adjusting prices then before

It was odd, typically if updates occur they are around mid day, I've never seen it happen between 6 and 10 before.

If the reviews were good the trade price would have stayed.

They were giving $48/$51 for a game while a competitor was running a B2G1 free sale. Doubt it had to do with reviews in any shape or form.

30 day values are restricted to BB pre-orders only so for 30 days from release week you ensure a good trade in value. But if you buy the game on day 29 then you only have 1 day. If they got used games back on the sales floor fast they`d sell the same game 2-3 times in 30 days, once new twice used & then again down the line. But b/c new game prices drop fast there`s only a 30 day window to be able to be able to sell a used copy for $40-$45.

The problem with large trade in amounts is that the credit isn`t resulting in tv/tablet/phone sales which is their main advantage over GS. Generating coupons based on the amount of credit you receive for a trade in would help entice people. You can`t edit thru their page this is how it should look.

$50 worth of trades gets you a $5 giftcard w/any $75 purchase & 10% off any $100 purchase coupons

$75 - $10 GC w/any $100 purchase & 15% off any $150 purchase coupons

$100 - 2 B2G1 coupons 1 for new games & 1 for used games.

$125 - $15 GC w/any $150 purchase & an additional 10% off all used games in 1 transaction coupons

$150 - 1 B2G2 used game and added 20% off 1 used game coupons

$175 - $25 GC w/any $200 purchase & an additional 30% off all used games in 1 transaction coupons

$200 - B3G3 used games, $50 GC w/any $250 purchase, additional 50% off 1 used game, additional 50% off all used games in 1 transaction coupons

$250 - Pick any 3 coupons

$275 -Pick any 5 coupons

$300 - Pick any 6 coupons + $100 GC w/any $450 purchase coupon

If they`re handing a customer $300 in credit give them coupons designed to get them to spend that plus more instore on items with higher margins ie their bread & butter items make sense?

Never will. Sadly their big push to really catch gaming sales was a bust. Unfortunately, probably, because of the timing (they spent a bunch of money to expand and train new crew at a time when they and the economy as a whole was struggling). The guys at the center desk/register thing can do trade ins too, but they typically only do them if customer service is really backed up. Customer service people are finally starting to not be so awkward with it though and the initial pains aren't as bad now. I really do wish they'd make some minor improvements to the system though (such as a pop up that asks if the customer is GCU and allows them to enter the phone number right there).

Oooo...

Make sense?

Even if it makes sense, which it does ultimately, it doesn't make it practical. They have trouble getting people a 10% bonus on their trade ins, or even doing trade ins at all; trying to put a system in place that would allow them to give a certain value only for certain people who pre-ordered said game... way beyond Best Buy's ability and I doubt they think the gain is worth the investment. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see that, it just won't ever happen.

The 2nd makes sense in theory (though a lot of those ideas sound like loss leads), but explaining all those benefits to average customer won't really do much. The main thing they need to do to make their pre-owned department more profitable is speed up the trade in to floor process. They've done this somewhat (X1 and PS4 games started showing up pretty quickly really), but they need to improve. I think an aggressive policy of price matching Gamestop's used prices on their used games would help too. Give people no reason to go to Gamestop at all. That'd make a huge difference in making the pre-owned side of things more profitable.
