BTW, for those who haven't seen it, Screen Junkies recently released an Honest Trailer for the first film:

Wikipedia spoiled the plot again. :-|

Now I am REALLY curious how this will affect AOS.

If you've read the comics, you should already have a vague idea of how the Winter Soldier story should go down. Nothing would surprise me at this point.

And AOS? You mean AOU (Age of Ultron)?

why would you wiki the movie?

And I was thinking the same.

I read something about the easter egg at the end of the movie, and I could only muster up a "meh".

Spoiler

no Agents of Shield.   I read somewhere that CA2 will have an impact on how AoS moves forward. The show is mediocre at best.  The only thing that is keeping it alive is the marvel film series.

I am glad this movie isn't going to have a stupid twist with the main villain like IM3, which made me leaving the theater saying WTF??!?!?

I really wonder if Fury is going to die in this movie?

Samuel Jackson still has 3 movies left in his initial contract after this one, so I doubt it.

Agh spoiler!

Unless it's one of flashback sequences that Chris Evans alluded to that will be on Avengers 2.

That was one of the best things a marvel movie has done...

Has anyone noticed that Amazon has been kinda funny with their marvel movie soundtracks lately?  Either it's not showing up for a release date for the CD or the cd's are 19.99?  Avengers and Thor 2 were both 19.99 hmm...

trying to decide if this is worth driving an hour to see in IMAX or just the regular local theater.  Hmm...

If a movie is in IMAX, I always try to see it in IMAX, especially for 3D.   This one should be in IMAX for a couple of weeks, unlike Divergent, which was kicked out of IMAX at the local theater after its release week because of Noah.  Next IMAX movie is Transcendent on 04/18, then Amazing Spiderman 2 on 05/02.

Thankfully, the nearest theater to me is the local IMAX theater.

Here we go again.  Unless the film was shot in with an IMAX camera, it's all upscaled and therefore you are paying for an upconvert.

http://en.wikipedia...._DMR_films#2015

http://en.wikipedia...._Remastering.29

Movies that have that epic landscape/cityscape scene (on location NOT CG) are worth it.  Seriously do you really want to see an IMAX image of two people talking?  I found it weird that Nolan filmed a scene or two of TDKR in IMAX that involved no action and just people talking in a house.

The way you can tell if it's an IMAX scene is if the image goes FULL Frame on the screen, while the rest of the movie does letterbox.  I have seen enough movies in standard frame and IMAX to know what to look out for.

I am curious about the upcoming Transformers:AOE film which is said to be shot in true IMAX 3D instead of converted in post with some scenes.

We will never have a FULL 90+ minute IMAX/3D Hollywood movie.  The process is too expensive to produce an entire movie in IMAX/3D and most audiences probably won't be able to handle the visual information overload of 3d images for that long of a time period.

Even if Gravity was converted to 3D and IMAX via DMR, it was the best use of 3D I've ever seen in the theater, without question.   Most of the 3D movies I've seen have been in IMAX and it does make the 3D look "better" compared to other non-IMAX 3D releases I've seen, mostly because it's a wider and taller screen. .

It may also be that some of the IMAX screens out there are the "lite" version of IMAX that some people have talked about, where the screen size isn't "right" for the "true" IMAX experience.

I was very worried seeing Gravity in 3d/imax because of the scope of the space scenes and the spinning.  I did see it in normal 3d and was ok.  I think what you are taking about is what I talked about before, the up converting of a movie not filmed in IMAX unscaled to IMAX format.  It is a very sneaky business practice that theater owners like to put on us.  I don't understand why there are reports that movie ticket sales are DOWN , yet the prices GO UP AND there are usually a good amount of people in the theater.

Anyways lets get back to the topic of the movie.

Release date says 4/4 but the theaters around me have 7 pm showings on 4/3 Thursday.  There's even an IMAX showing that day.

That's the new midnight release time for majority of theaters.

This happens often with highly anticipated movies.... I am glad that movie studios are OK'ing with theater owners allowing to show the movie at 7/8/9/10pm instead of the usual midnight showings.   Sometimes seeing a movie at midnight can make you so tired when you get out at 2:30/3am in the morning and then having to go to work the next day.

Fandango states there's an 7 minute difference between the 2d & 3d versions.  I know it wasn't shot in 3d so I'm not sure what the 7 minute discrepancy would be.

*edit*

Nevermind, according to reddit (take that as you will) both cuts are exactly the same length and it was just a discrepancy with the studio.

That's pretty crazy to watch a midnight showing and go to work the next morning (assuming you got an 8am/9am job).  Same goes for midnight releases for games.  Only time I've ever done those are when I have the next day scheduled off.  I used to be able to be up until 3am playing games but as I've gotten older now whenever I last until midnight I'm just about ready to pass out.

For movies, I've always preferred the early bird showing on Friday mornings since they never sell out and I'm well rested to really enjoy the movie.   It also sucks that the bigger the crowd you have, the more likely you run into those idiots that disturb everybody around them while the movie is going on.

Now playing:

:ps4: Mortal Kombat X, The Last of Us: Remastered

:xb1: Ori and the Blind Forest

Some places give out free posters or other crap..but to be honest...unless you have a place to put them it just ends up lying around.
