That's the only game I've truly regretted snagging for a buck.

Same here. I should've saved the moneys for that freefall Kinect game.

Probably has two jobs. The bad news is it kills your entire day, the good news is you never have time to actually spend any money.

The worse news is you never really have time to play any games. When i personally work 11-12 hour days I find myself too fried to be able to handle video games. Those become TV nights because it's a completely passive activity.

I hear you man. I work the same kind of hours as you and I live with my girlfriend. I hardly ever get a chance to game these days. I played an hour or two of Sleeping Dogs yesterday. That was the most I've gamed in a while.

I hear you on the TV thing too. Its much easier to fall asleep watching TV than it is while playing video games...unless that game is Full House Poker. I play that late at night sometimes when I can't sleep...good times. I've lost lots of money.

Well I renewed my XBL for 1 more year.  The free games seem to be improving and I've been waiting to play Sleeping Dogs.  Seeing the holiday sale prices lets me think that there will be more good prices through next year.

Looking at Wolf Among Us season pass, it shows as $14.99 which seems to be about $5-10 cheaper than it originally was.  I guess this is a price drop?

edit:  After finally finding it in xbldb it seems like it was always $14.99.  On steam it's $20+

I just finished the Year of the Snake DLC. It's much better than Nightmare on North Point. I enjoyed the mission variety in this one.

Is Year of the Snake or Nightmare on North Point worth getting if I am playing Sleeping DOgs for the first time? I have to admit both DLCs seem to have a pretty cool premise. Would love some input!!!

It's been discussed here countless times (especially when season pass was on sale), but it's $15 because it's missing episode one.

I would say both DLC's are worth getting at their price now. The Year of the Snake DLC is definitely better than the Nightmare at North Point DLC because of mission variety and story. But if it's your first time, you may enjoy it.

North Point had an interesting premise with the halloween theme and chinese vampires/demons. However, it was wasted by tedious, repetitive missions. It didn't took me more than two hours to beat, but I'd wish it ended sooner because it was so boring. It's not worth playing unless you want all the achievements.

If you're liking Sleeping Dogs, buy Year of the Snake. There's car/boat chases, gunfights, bomb disposal objectives, and more.

I've narrowed down the list of what i'm holding out for to grab on 360 over other platforms, and it's down to nearly nothing.

I'd love a Splinter Cell Blacklist or Batman Arkham Origins sale, but neither would be marked down enough to bite.
However I am still hoping for Alan Wakes American Nightmare, Super Meat Boy, or Pac Man CE DX.

Not sure what I don't own that hasn't already been on sale. Biggest one that comes to mind is Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams.

Well...that and MAYBE if Limbo hits the 75% off range, I'll give the demo for that another shot.

Nobody seems to know why it's cheaper on Xbox than Steam. On Xbox, it is $4 per episode. $5 per episode on Steam. I'd rather play it on Xbox anyways, so I'm happy.

A few of those games you could of gotten for good prices. I forget the prices, but there was a pretty big Alan Wake series sale last year. I recall getting the coregame for $5. Fuck that reminds me I still have that in my backlog.

Doesn't the SP on steam come with all 5 episodes, and xbox its 4 episodes and the first by itself? Or is that just walking dead?

Xbox: SP (ep. 2-4) + episode 1 = $20

Steam: SP (ep. 1-5) = $25

EDIT: Maybe Steam version comes with the soundtrack?

Oh. I thought steams version was $20. My bad. Well whatever. Steam gets all the good sales anyway.

So there's no savings over buying the episodes individually for $5 each? Why even have a season pass then??

I don't think you can buy them individually on Steam.

Because it'll go on sale for much cheaper a ridiculous amount of times. It's still Steam, after all.

I just finished playing The Wolf Among Us - Episode 1:  Faith.  I am definitely glad that I picked up the Season Pass for the series when it was a Daily Deal during the Countdown to 2014 Promotion.  While it still maintained some of the engine issues that made The Walking Dead problematic at times, everything else from the art style, music, story, and gameplay mechanics (even the QTE events felt a little more dynamic with analog stick inputs alongside the traditional XYAB) were pretty well done.  Did I mention that the game's premise of fairytale characters drenched in modern-day noir is utterly delightful?  It absolutely is.

I have not read the Fables graphic novel series, but I definitely will as soon as The Wolf Among Us Season 1 finishes.  I can not wait until Episode 2:  Smoke and Mirrors!

Piggybacking from my last post so soon after is a rare occurrence for me, due to my work. I lack the hours of intense schedules other CAGs on this thread seem to have, but my small amount of hours still drains me. I guess in my advanced age, I lack the energy all you youngins' flaunt, I just make up for it in bitterness. Well, I'll make my time now before the new thread shows up.

I chose to pass on this past Deal of the Week on Lego games. I do not doubt their quality, I just fear if I were to ever get into them, it would just add a whole lot more to my backlog. The Square-Enix discounts probably were great for many other CAGs. So I'd call this past week of discounts surprisingly strong immediately after the countdown to New Years discounts.

Almost time for a new sale. What's everyone hoping for?

Id like to see Farcry 3 go on sale.

This coming week, I have no clue what will be discounted, but I've been thinking how nice it was that Capcom and the Xbox Live team bringing us a "last chance" sale on the now delisted Marvel games like the Activision (they can overhype a game with this link =P) and X-men games a couple weeks ago. Delistings concern me since it just means I will likely not have the opportunity to experience some content (and sometimes causes prices to spike up). This got me thinking: some game content with the Marvel licenses are not worth renewals/negotiations with Disney for some developers/publishers as are the late Lucasarts and Star Wars, so what are the chances the Darth Vader DLC for Soul Calibur 4 gets removed? Should I bite the bullet and get the DLC when the 8th rolls around (next Xbox Rewards deposit date, I finally hit 5000credits) or will Bandai-Namco be so gracious to discount it before delisting?

Of course I for one am still hoping all the Mass Effect DLC to either drop in price or get a significant discount one last time before Microsoft chooses to close the chapter on the 360.  I'm also pretty surprised by now there has been no discounts on the Hydro Thunder: Hurricane and Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet DLC considering they were all published by Microsoft Game Studios for old Summer of Arcade (and it seems PlayXBLA has all but abandoned me for just Killer Instinct 3, Happy Wars, and Ascend: Hand of Kul these days). I can only guess and hope for good stuff to see a discount at this time.

Was just wondering where you had been, Crono. Good to see you're still around.

Heh, I've not posted much because everyone on this thread has been so great responding with their thoughts on discounted items.  I do read it all and take it in before I make my purchasing decisions.  The only time I ever wanted to chime in was earlier last month when NoelVermillion asked about the quality of Record of Agarest War, to which I would have said:

Don't hold your breath waiting for 360 ports of ArcSys games, Crono.

Doesn't hurt to hope.  I will want the games anyway.  I'd just prefer them on the 360 because to me I think I feel the responsiveness of inputs is slightly better than on another console for some fighting games.  Which even at my low to garbage level of play is of some importance to me.

Before, this thread closes for a new Xbox Live deals thread, I've still got some curiosities of January 2014 XBLA games to come.  Since I do not have them on other platforms yet, I am wondering if Dustforce is still on schedule to release on XBLA in January 2014, because it looks fun and the music sounds great to me; if it is, I may just get it on release at its 800MSP, unless it frequently gets discounted on Steam, I can consider alternatives.  I am hoping Dustforce doesn't pull a They Bleed Pixels on me, where I hotly anticipated the game on XBLIG and it ended out Steam only.  Also for those who has played the phone/tablet or Xbox One edition of Halo: Spartan Assault, tell me about its microtransactions (I hear it has some, but I do not have an Xbox One to know the details).

Thanks Necrozilla and everyone for a wonderful thread.  I will have to change my bookmarks for the new XBLA deals thread.  I look forward to seeing the new deals and reading everyone's thoughts on games ^^.

I didn't even think about the fact that disney owns Star Wars now. That gives me hope that might finally see a sale on the DLC for The Force Unleashed. I would be overjoyed.

I'm still hoping they can at least give two weeks notice of deals this time as opposed to wait and see. Though I'm still not expecting much in the ways of good deals happening.
