Minimum $100 Gift Card for PS3 or XBOX @ BB

See the Best Buy TIV thread--I successfully traded in my launch 360 with this promo earlier this morning. The bonus won't trigger until they total the trade so don't freak when they quote you the ridiculous base value.

So did u get the 100 plus the trade in value? What did u have to give with the 360?

I am also curious if it was $100+ the TIV, and what all you had to give them. Power cords and av hookup I would assume, but was hard drive required? Controller?

Asking this in both threads:

I have an old Pro that I upgraded from 20gb to 60gb but I cant find the 20gb HD now, will they take it with the 60gb or do all pieces need to match up?

Can anyone speak to have picky they are on the consoles?
here is a snippet from Sd regarding their experience trading in today at bestbuy,

"Just traded in a day one 360. They required the power cables, video cables and controller. They are not allowing any RROD and they check all the serial numbers out and they do turn the on so it does take a little time to complete. But getting 100 bucks for an 8 year old system that is a very slick deal."

Well I'm thinking if this arcade system I got from AWD turns on that if they overlook the missing port covers that I'm going to BBY.  Says on the trade page that it can't be cracked (don't see any) and the seal has to be intact as well (have to check that still).

I have 2 White 360 Pro that I would love to trade-in for $200 and buy a $190 360 Slim BF Bundle (that won't sound like a jet engine).

I'm surprised no one asked if they check to see if a console is banned or not. Anyone know?
Seems like they wouldn't be bright enough to check that. I'd love to take advantage of this with my banned 360, but that's a pretty big dick move and I don't think I could do it. I'm just gonna sell it to my brother for $50 once I clear out my digital 360 backlog.

We have 3 360s, one RRoD and 2 working older models. For $100, they can take the extra working one we never use. Shit, I'll bring the RRoD and see what happens. If they take it, all I'm out is a controller for $100 extra. Being able to convert to Amazon cards would be tits up.

I don't see this lasting long. Either they get swamped with trade-ins and they pull it or they get swamped with RRoD/banned systems (from employees not checking) and they pull it sooner.

from sd:

"I just traded in two crappy 360s, both with broken seals. They work but they were definitely on their last legs. Two $100 gift cards. I did have to give them one controller, av cables and power bricks. The geek squad dude said the minimum was a power brick, and they were able to ring me up with only one controller.

so basically, if they like you, you could go with console and a power brick. Without the brick they cannot ring it up."

I am new to this whole video game deal thread thing, but this makes me shudder... I guess "sd" is going to ruin this for the rest of us who want to actually trade in a working console. :(

i would act fast, before the promo either gets pull, or a stricter guideline for console trade ins are implemented.

I have a perfectly good working 360, but I don't have the controller and the serial number wore off.  Any chance they will take it??

Guy at the Best Buy I just went to said it has to have any controller, power cord, and cables. If you don't give them a controller you get $90.
Wish I'd known this since $10 less is worth keeping an extra controller

I personally don't think they check if it's banned but it may depend on how busy they are and employee who does the trade in

Wow.

I've got a PS3 slim that only gets used for Blu Rays and my brother has one of the old, white Xbox 360s just laying around.

This is awfully tempting... Would be a nice start towards that PS4 I now kinda sorta want....

Get it

I figure I will at some point.

I'm a handheld gamer now (wife and infant child make sitting in front of a TV for hours on end tough); the idea of being able to play PS4 games on my Vita is awfully appealing.

Mission accomplished. I brought a working older style 360 (with HDMI) and a RRoD older style 360 (with no HDMI). They tested both so the RRoD came back with me. The girl had trouble looking up the model without the HD (looking it up by HD size) but it turned out no specific model meant I was going to get $10... then I told her about the promo and it was smooth sailing from there. It did not seem she checked for the seal or any XBL bans but she definitely read the serial number. I only traded in system, AV cable, power supply and controller - HD was not needed.

Interestingly enough, I brought AVs and they just used a HDMI cable with the working 360 so I would assume a HDMI cable is enough if you don't have AVs/Component to trade in.

This was the Rockaway NJ BB.

That's life, man. Handheld gaming for life.
Totally. Makes me glad I couldn't sell my Vita a few months ago. Having a blast playing through all the PSP games I missed and looking forward to digging into the stack of Vita games I have yet to touch.

Just traded in my 360 Arcade unit. Without the controller they quoted me $4. I don't think that's right but just wanted to put that out there.

Is it worth trading in my xbox 360 elite?

Hmm thinking about trading it in to get my xbox one from best buy anyways.

To the one to have a exclusive or other kind of Xbox, don't bother trying to trade it in.. They are complete bullshit with them. I tried trading in my white Skylanders slim Xbox. And they wouldn't trade the fuck in.

I swear, if this deal is ended before tomorrow night I'll be very upset.. Probably the only chance I'll be able to offload my 2007 20gb xbox for a decent amount of $$.

Very excited I saw this thread,  my 360 is crapping out.  I was lucky because I hadn't had any issues since I bought it in 2008 but it's been causing problems lately and it didn't seem worth it to pay $80 to fix it through MS and probably have more issues later.  Anyway,  I had my original box still,  brought in my 60 gb Pro unit with the cables and controller.  Customer service didn't even open it at my store just scanned it and went through regular trade in procedure.  I would DEFINITELY jump on this because all the SD'ers and other deal sites will ruin it
